The first album was terrific and this one even better. But then the marketing guys and accountants got involved.  A few singles here and there emerged but that was about it.  Although I will say their live shows are excellent.

Their first 2 albums really are top notch - their next batch of albums had highlights, but many meh/formulaic songs scattered, and their last lot of albums haven't given me any reason to invest time in re-listening after giving them a go.... Their drop is such a shame, but yeah, thanks for the good-to-great output guys - both albums are still on rotation nowadays 👍

I jumped on here to write something blatantly disrespectful of the band when I saw your post and it caused me to pause and reflect. I love my wife dearly and if she were gone, well . . . I'm not sure I how I would go on.

Arguing over Coldplay is like Pelosi and McConnell trying to do a second stimulus bill: Nothing ever moves the meter. Bottom line is you can't get away from them. Here or commercial radio or in elevators and dentists' offices. They're that houseguest who can't read the room and overstays the welcome. Coldplay too.

While the comments section here is the place to comment on what you think of a song, good or bad... remember comments like this when you go to pen something about how embarrassing or shitty you think a song is.

So much less annoying to all of those who like each song (and if Bill plays it, you know many/most will like it) if you can be constructive with what you don't like. Or better yet, like your momma hopefully told you, "if you can't say something nice..."

A song doesn't have to be technically or historically significant to be great. "The truth is" this one right here is a great song because of its simplicity and accessibility; and at the same time evoques feelings and times many can relate to.

A 9 in my book.

I'm not a big fan of the band but "hate" is somewhat extreme - one wastes a lot of energy when they go around "hating" things.  These guys had some good songs; this one's pretty cool.

My buddy put this on his annual compilation disc he burns for 2002.  He sends one out to everyone at the end of each year. 

It's OK, but I still prefer "The Scientist".

I'm heavily burned out on Coldplay due to over-airplay from commercial radio. But the fact is, they are an outstanding band. Once known as "Radiohead Lite", they have since commanded their own success and to that I feel they have earned.

I find myself listening to Parachutes a lot lately. It's interesting to compare it to Viva la Vida. Parachutes has some gorgeous songs. "Sparks" melts me every time. But I guess that's for another message board.
