There have been a lot of glitches this afternoon.
Ugh, another song is playing at the same time! I would rather have heard this one by itself.
Yes me too - playing Weezer AND Ka Huila Wai..?
Takes me away. Back to a home I left so long ago. It has changed, people are gone, land is not the same. Too much anger and hatred about everything. Now I can only get there with the help of the music and memories that bring smell and feel of the air and people from long ago. Growing old is no fun. Now a different beach, different air, very different people and the air and breezes fell and smell different.
There is no going back. No going home. Aloha
Very well put AndyJ, my sentiments exactly! Mahalo...Aloha
We boomers request that people not have seven-syllable surnames. Thank you.

I have no water to ask for
A standing mirror, you always are
A consultant, with us
Loved it, really flew
When to fly, to the ocean
Loved, Waiohinu
The water -falling cliff, the koa
Don't sit down and try to forget
In a peacock, grow clean
Tell me, I'll shout
I have no water to ask for
Here are the lyrics from AZLyrics.com:
The windmill just stands still
No water comes swirling up
You are a constant reflection of me
My companion, always conversing with me
Beloved indeed is Môlîlele
When the clouds swirl, the ocean is stormy
Beloved is the koae bird from
The waterfall of Wai'ôhinu
Just don't you forget
This attractive peacock
Tell the refrain
No water comes swirling up
I have no water to ask for
A standing mirror, you always are
A consultant, with us
Loved it, really flew
When to fly, to the ocean
Loved, Waiohinu
The water -falling cliff, the koa
Don't sit down and try to forget
In a peacock, grow clean
Tell me, I'll shout
I have no water to ask for

Just standing there, The Water Wheel
I have no water, so I asked
A standing mirror, always you
Talk to you soon and keep up the good content
Loved it, really flying
When to fly, to the ocean
Loved, Waiohinu
The cliff that flies, and the koa
Do not sit down and try to forget

It was told, the rhyme was going
I have no water to pour
Using Regex to parse XML?
Actually I'm not good enough at regex to hate it. I'm just confused by it. XML on the other hand, PITA.
An excellent reference to learning regex is Larry Wall's "Programming Perl". He covers it in about 8 pages.
big fella eat em all
Bless you for including this (and so glad it's not "over the rainbow", which is great but overplayed). A touch of Hawaii is perfect for a Monday morning.

KPIG only plays Over the Rainbow and it does get more airplay here than this song, at least to my ears. Thanks BillG for allowing me to enjoy another song from Iz.

Hello, well
When flying at sea, at sea
Aloha is, Waiohinu
The water pump is the water pump
Do not live, and forget
On a peanut, fresh berries
It's coming, and it's going to happen
There is no water for me, and it can poison it

@LaurieinTuscon Whew .... whether this is manufactured tongue-in-cheek or an actual "translation" -- best laugh I've had today!! Thx -- Radiotoe
But here comes Iz and my brain mush is suddenly floating in butter and eyes can only see the red sunset with palm tree shadow gently hugging the beach sand. Thank you Bill.
Overplayed where? The only place I’ve ever heard Israel is on RP.
... and a Friday morning! Aina aloha!
Agreed, even though I'm delighted to hear the other track when BillG spins it, bruddah Iz's voice is so smooth and downright perfect....in fact I'll go 8 to 9 on this gem today. Long Live RP and RIP to bruddah Iz!!

Janne- I had only seen "hula" in the Polynesian Cultural Center, blahblah. Good stuff but in, like, hula - in a museum? No bueno. Then I went to my Philippine friend's daughter's wedding and the young gals danced the hula for a traditional wedding blessing. Holy sh*t!! You could have cut the sexual tension in the air with a CHAINSAW! The menfolk, including me, were literally bewitched- checked out of the Consciousness Hotel you might say. It was sooooo intense, mesmerizing, powerful. It was the next year I went to Hawai'i for my fiend's wedding and heard Isreael on the radio. Wow, that changed my little whitetoast life, I gotta tell 'ya. Look up the German word anschauung. No word for it in English.
Well, that was the connection my mind made, but now that I have double checked the script, that line isn't in the restaurant sketch. So, I don't know. I just don't know. I'm afraid, that I just don't know. I'm ......

Lovely voice. I know some of his songs get over-played in treacly occasions but he had great talent.

+1 that! I think he's a fine niche artist and I'm sure "Over the Rainbow" will remain a special song... But it's hard to appreciate when used in lots of commercials and teary tv endings etc.
Nice. I'm gonna have to try that.
I totally second that

Izzy's versions of 'Wonderful World' and 'Over The Rainbow' can make the most cynical heart tear up.
Hawaiian music is Sunday-In-The-Park or Sunday Afternoon in Backyard, cooking, drinking beer with friends and everone singing or dancing.. Nice gentle, human... Something we all should do a bit more often...
Nice. I'm gonna have to try that.
Israel, Keola Beamer, The Brothers Cazimero, if there's a heaven, I hope that Hawaii is a hint of what it might be like.
It's a 9 for me. One of best singers of his type I know...

buh bye...
Too bad his weight finally did him in - an amazing voice.
He was a true son of Hawaii, has falsetto voice melts me !
Sadly his sumo weight class was a factor in his demize..
*Chuckle* You're a cruel Man Lrobby99, but fair.
Yes! ...and again! Perfect Friday tune! Thanks, RP!
Love the old style... Nice to hear it again... makes one remember Sunday Mornings in Manoa and Palolo (different loves) before the fog lifted..
A pleasant diversion on a gloomy day. Mahalo nui loa.
Great song. The picture reminds me of a AbFab scene: (paraphrased from memory)
Eddy - "Inside of me there is a skinny person trying to get out"
Eddy's mum - "Just the one, dear?"
How come there's no George on RP? C'mon, Fred, upload something!
I would but I don't have anything of his digitized.
Too bad his weight finally did him in - an amazing voice.
Thanks to his gentle, perfect voice ... it is my daughters favourite tune (shes now 7) and mine too
thanks RP...
Wow, did THIS board get off track. Time to bring it back to the music.
Beautiful post, huebdoo. I will think of this every time I hear IZ's "Over the Rainbow."
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha *breathe* ha, ha, ha, ha, ha (UK in-joke. . . carry on. . . as you were)

Note to flyboy—so it's not BS, and I'll accept your take back on the facts. I was unaware that ministers were calling for Bush's death from the pulpit as well. No matter what I thought of his policies and his presidency, I find any such notion repugnant and morally abhorrent. Fair enough?
Israel was featured on NPR's Top 50 Voices of All Time. Apparently, the album he did with the "Over the Rainbow" is still the top selling record of Hawaiian music. He had a beautiful talent.
Really? As if the diabetes caused by a fatty, starchy island diet could not have been avoided by eating more fruits, fish, and vegetables. I lived on Maui for a year and I soon found myself in the best shape of my life. Your really have to work at being unhealthy there, and yet so many islanders are.
Let the midnight special shine it's ever lovin' light on me.
Yes let the midnight special shine a light on me.
Let the midnight special shine it's ever lovin' light on me.
Somehow I do not think it is as simple as a lack of self-discipline either. Probably a lot (was) going on with him that we just don't know about.
Many Native American tribes in the southwest have the same obesity problem. It's not so much the food that contributed to the problem but the consistent supply. As I've heard it, many humans that lived in a place where food was not in constant supply developed a feast and famine diet. Their bodies adjusted to this by absorbing food in the feast times by building up fat reserves to then consume in the times of famine. With the modern day availability of food their bodies just continue to hold fat for use later that is not needed.
That being said there are a lot of physically fit Native Americans who don't suffer from an obesity problem. So I don't know.
I think genetically the cards can be stacked either for or against you. Being blessed to come from a family with a slender build, I have great respect for the people who have overcome obesity. It's not something that I want to see if my will is strong enough to conquer.
Biology demonstrates that native peoples' metabolic systems can't cope with the alcohol, sugar, processed food and chemically-laden meat of the industrial food model - and other folks aren't doing too well eating that crap either.
Or maybe he was just eating too damned much of it. Mweep-mwow
I'm going to go ahead and call BS on that one. You can't go and generically say that there are "several' preachers calling for the President's head without something to back it up with. I myself have yet to agree with anything that I've heard come out of President Obama's mouth, and hate his policies with a passion. I also think he's personally an arogant prick, an enemy of the state, and an illegitimate President. I hope he's removed from office absolutely as soon as possible. But I don't wish him or anyone else death. I guess that's the difference between me and the Bush haters, Bill Ayers, Rom Emanuel, etc.
The reference to provenance—in parenthesis—seems redundant for it can be inferred from the "argument" (or lack thereof)
Why Wheezer and Isreal at tge same time? What a mess…
You do it best I guess. Keep mixing it up William. Go RP
