There is an indentation from where she lay.
Her tiny stature is sleek, now she's far away.
Only the thoughts of her remain,
Despairing, desperate, full of self blame.
Under the water, I saw her lying there,
Creamy skin, lots of flowing golden hair.
It was alive, that I know,
I saw her gesture to me with the ebb and the flow.
Tormented by the futility of life,
I can see the stars from a million miles.
Are you out there, somewhere?
Transposed?
Tormented by the futility of life,
I can see the stars from a million miles.
Are you out there, somewhere?
The corpse was dredged from the sea that night.
Hair matted around it's body tight.
It was no comfort to identify,
The pallid flesh, the life, deprived.
The sea, is writhing now, it's like a bed of rising passion.
When something is, that intense, you can never tell,
What will happen next.
Tormented by the futility of life,
I can see the stars from a million miles.
Are you out there, somewhere?
Tormented by the futility of life,
I can see the stars from a million miles.
Tormented by the futility of life,
I can see the stars from a million miles

Gotta shout out a hella yes for SGT and RP.  I have been groovin' to this for too long not to publically support the absolutely slick way this was crafted.
I  can only find extended version on the tube

I find myself wondering what our ancestors thought of 20,000 years ago when out working or doing chores.  Was there music back then and did it run through their head?  What did an idle mind do back then?  I wish there were answers.

'Rock Mix' is still there - click on central button bottom line for other choices.
I first heard this on RP.  It quickly made it to my favorites/CD list (back in the day).

Jeez! I can't count how many bands or songs touched me in unique, magnificent, inexplicable ways. I really dig this band and I imagine I always will.
I love it! The lyrics here are as deep as the sea, and the shimmering, multi-layered vocals and sounds in this fab song are of a high order of passion and talent! Bravo!
new to me and I like it
Bubblegum? Happy?  um. it might make sense to read the lyrics first..

Yes, me too. This album was a bright spot in difficult times, very much like now.

in 1991, I was alone in a new country, without
friends or work. Single Gun Theory music was unique, different, that helped me to carry-on. Their music reminded that there are special discoveries yet to be found, even in a strange new world.

Rather like today's strange new world.

For everyone who is alone and without work, I hope you fined your own version of "Single Gun Theory" that gives you solace.

NYPD Blue melody progression tucked in there in a different key.

Bubblegum?  It's a song about seeing a corpse under water.  Most of these comments are garbage.
Great song, great album
Great song, great album !!!

True that brothers!
{#Sunny} Absolutely love this song. Reminds me of undergrad...happy times.
So nice to listen to fun music for a change. We need more. Much more.
Isn't that 'pray for me' sampled from Hipsway's "Ask the Lord"? Either way, both tracks use the same sample.
 like these stars in my mind.. {#Music}

I have a fondness for seemingly happy, upbeat songs that harbor really rather disturbing lyrics and SGT's catalog is full of 'em. {#Good-vibes}

I have this same tape in my car in the passenger seat drawer. It's been the only one in there since I bought the car 13 years ago because it had a this new thing called a "CD" Player!

They had the coolest sound at the time. Still holds up today. "Pray for me..."

Good and Groovy, but I feel like buying something, or am I hungry, or old? or cold? hot? I do need that,(I think) yes

Lucky me. . . RP has played a load of 9 and 10 rated songs for me today. Its like Bill has sneaked a look into my ratings. Makes me good to feel I contribute by way of regular CASH!

Have you contributed yet? Yes, you.
NIce, nice nice!  Chill music to accompany today's heavy snowfall.

.... and it's 21 years old?!!  A sad comment on over-the-air radio that I've never heard this.

i'm totally definitely diggin this
and i like it too

Maybe you're just too sensitive and/or hyperbolic.  Breaking one's tibia is excrutiating, hearing music is generally not.  I guess this isn't for everyone, but I find it quite likable.
Sort of diggin' this...

Potatoes Rock !
Who's Miles who might be out there somewhere?
So many elements to this song - the busy scattershot drums, the single thrum strings for emphasis, the interesting lyrics, the Suzanne-Vega-like vocals...  I like this song.  It captures my attention and my imagination.  8. {#Music}
Eclectic bit of music but enjoyable.  I listen to it every now and again  'cause it's worth it.

Yes, obscure eclecticism is quite under-rated.

Radio Paradise knows Australian music better than the Australian radio stations!  In general the Aussie music I hear on RP is always top shelf, yet rarely the same stuff that has been played to death everywhere else.  Fantastic.

Nice transition.

SGT has some awesome and whimsical CD's. Worth buying if you like this song.

Nice segue from Rachid Taha. I've loved SGT for years and can't tell you how happy it makes me to hear them on RP.
what a great way to start the day!  {#Daisy}

This entire CD is worth buying. Interesting sounds to be sure.
Sounds like Suzanne Vega in a curry house, which is not as interesting as it would seem. 2.

The "Pray For Me" sample was previously used on 'Ask The Lord', a fabulous song by the obscure Scottish band 'Hipsway'. I thought that was what we were getting but alas...
Nice. Used to own this album on 4AD records. Probably one of their best songs.
This reminds me of a sparkly lazy summer day in oz (home).
Cool. I haven't heard this one in ages.
i've only heard a few of their tunes but they all sound the same.
This is my eclectic essence, concentrated into a small bottle. The purveyor of said spirit? That's Radio Paradise. Thanks, Bill and/or Rebecca. Another tune for my Hit List.

It is funny, years ago (1992-ish?), I took a chance on this CD based on the cover art. It was an impulsive purchase that turned out to be a wonderful surprise. It has been one of my favorite CD's.

This is excellent! Never heard it before. Thanks, RP!
Awesome. Just one more reason why I listen to RP.
Goodness Gracious!! My head snapped to the computer upon the first notes.... RP is gleaning more & more from the audio netherworlds of forgotten gems and providing an aural SNAP to times past with tunes recovered and re-presented. Verbose, I know, but heartfelt. MORE, yet still, more, please.

Just to clarify, that's actually an Indian sample in there. Indian vocal styles tend to get mixed into the Arabic world when in fact, Arabic vocal stylings and Indian vocal stylings are vastly different. This would be probably be a schlok or something though I'm not quite sure.
Never heard this before, but I like! Good way to start the morning.
Great to hear this. Nice to have a place where semi -obscure music is heard. ">

I just love the way the arabic sample is woven through, coming through with some added sparkle at just the right places. A measured ecstasy.

YES! still one of my favorite internationally obscure groups after all these years. Earlier albums are more uneven, but they all have their moments of grace. Thank you!
Pretty good.

The band was formed 15 years ago, in Australia. I know what the name refers to, but for the life of me, I can't find an agenda anywhere. I thinks it's just an interesting phrase that's become part of worldwide pop culture. If you think the name of the band is a big deal, you probably don't want to read this book.
Rats! Missed it. I\'ll take credit/blame - I uploaded this. I really like it. Don\'t see the connection to Heaven 17 - that was much more bee-boppity...
Woah... I\'m flashing back on Heaven 17. Not a bad thing. But it\'s weird to hear this style again twenty years later. Now I know how boomers felt when XTC did their \"Dukes of the Stratosphere\" thing.
