At the risk of being an anorak, I think Simple Minds stated at the time of release that it was a re-working of She Walks Through the Fair a traditional Irish folk song that was popularised by Fairport Convention in the late sixties.

That is one of my favorite albums of all time. Brilliant. I always listen to it in its entirety. I think Jim Kerr said about Street Fighting Years that they tried too hard to fill every moment; you can hear that on this song, big time. Nevertheless, some great songs. Saturday Girl was a sad little B-side from one of the singles.
