It's coming round again
slowly creeping hand
of time and its command
soon enough it comes
and settles in its place
its shadow in my face
puts pressure in my day
This life well it's slipping right through my hands
these days turned out nothing like I had planned
It's coming round again
the slowly creeping hand
of time and its command
it settles in its place
its shadow in my face
puts pressure in my day
soon enough it comes
here it is again
slowly creeping hand
time and it's command
soon enough it comes
settles in it's place
puts pressure in my day
undignified and lame
This life well it's slipping right through my hands
These days turned out nothing like I had planned
Control well it's slipping right through my hands
these days turned out nothing like I had planned
Soon enough it comes
soon enough it comes
too tie us down
It's coming round again
Slow...slowly creeping hand
This life well it's slipping right through my hand
These days turned out nothing like I had planned
Control well it's slipping right through my hand

of time and its command

Not their best song but still good, a pleasant surprise to hear them on RP. They are very popular here and are about to start touring again in the new year.

Pretty much. Decent background music, certainly not bad enough to make me hit mute, but nothing I'm going to remember even 20 minutes from now.
Blah.

Yep that's a fair comment. And Coldplay are U2 meets David Gates & Bread then? Plodding, ponderous, leaden - just a few words which come to mind upon hearing this song. Powderfinger are one of Australia's biggest bands - maybe they are the Aussie Coldplay?

The vocalist sounds like one of the Brothers Gibb.
Just sounds like "heard three billions times before". Nothing new, very common...
Next!
the chorus sounds like a slowed down version of their single, "My Happiness"... i prefer the single.

I've ordered a couple other Powderfinger albums from a website downunder. A head-scratcher why Powderfinger isn't more popular in the US.
I say, and I did the same thing.

Sorry sounds just like lots of other dull songs
Two Aussie bands in a row. Amen brother! Go for three!
I was living in NYC for a couple years and went to the Letterman show one night and these guys happened to play. We really enjoyed their brief "set". One song for the show, but a damn good one.

I can sort of hear that. Not sure whether that's good or bad. But any band named after one of my favorite Neil Young songs is okay with me.

Ah, memories
my one an only vacation to Australia in the summer 2003, for three weeks combing the sunshine coast and generally enjoying the beauty that is Oz! (not to mention the beautiful people!). I went on a three day tour of Fraser Island (the largest sand island in the world) with a bunch of folks from all over the globe
this was the CD that stayed on rotation for the majority of the tour and this was my favourite tune from that CD
I bought the album when in Oz and returned home with this as my only musical selection from the land downunder
thanks for the memories RP!
That's some cool coverart. Never heard of these guys.
More Powderfinger!!!
Hoe Hum
Radiohead meets David Gates & Bread
memories of my trip to australia in 2002...

... Adore Powderfinger These Days! ...particularly Odyssey Number Five! ...
After a rough day (or at anytime really) this song is great. Thanks RP.
Ditto.

I like this band a lot, I have Aussie versions of two of their CDs. This version sounds different than the one on the Aussie CD, maybe it's remixed for the states or something?
The song was originally recorded for the Australian movie 'Two Hands' and released on a single about 6 months before the album, that's why there are two versions.

I don't know the answer to your question for certain, but this is definitely different than the version on the CD I have...we must have the same one (I prefer the other version to this one...it's quieter and less rock-and-roll, which seems appropriate for the song)
:curtain.gif: S-h-h-h-h... People are sleeping...
Thanks to RP for turning me on to Powderfinger.
such a great track!
the cd is one of my faves!
bought the CD after hearing this band for the first time on RP a couple of weeks ago...I shudder to think I could have gone on and on not knowing about this band...thank you, RP!

This band is so very NOT like Ms Crow. (Blegh!) This is an OK song - but not their best. The CD is great - an Aussie classic...
It sounds too much like "The First Cut is the Deepest", Cheryl Crow version, which I hate... therefor, Powderfinger, you get a 2 for this song...

nice peaceful song
Bernard (the lead singer) just did a fantastic accoustic version of this on the telethon we had for the Bali Bomb victims - wasn\'t a dry eye in my house that night! \"These days turned out nothing like I had planned....\"
An outstanding song from an outstanding Australian band. The Internationalist is also a super album by these guys.
