Lately i've been thinking
Lately i've been dreaming with you
I'm so resistent to this type of thinking
Oh now it's shining through
I was alone for the last time
before my nights' vacation with you
alive from the first now i'm denied
by the ghost of you
Oh you take yourself a photograph and laugh at me
Please
I know there's little use in crying
It's more wide awake and dying than i'm used to
I thought we'd walk these streets together
Now i'm hoping that I'll never have to meet you
Step aside from all this anger
And somewhere in between I can feel you
Ask me should we try again
I'm thinking no yeah
It's not what i believe in
It's not what i believe in
Oh, Won't you take yourself a photograph and laugh at me
please
you make yourself a photograph and laugh at me
please
No I, wanna taste your love
No I...no I
No I, just wanna taste your love
Oh, no I
Standing in your shoes I turn
and now you're standing bare in my doorway
I only wish that I had been prepared
I'm gonna have to go along with your way
Just take the plastic camera out
It's in the pants you borrowed in the driveway
Alive from the first now i'm denied by the ghost of you
make yourself a photograph & laugh at me please
yeah make yourself a photograph & laugh at me please
no i want a taste of love no i

I thought this was Grant Lee Buffalo when it started.

I like to listen to this song when I feel lonely and sad, it relaxes me.

Other people have posted comments that they dislike this song / think other people named Howie could do a better job etc etc but that does not equate to 'hate'.
It is something I first noticed a few years with Lance Armstrong and I thought it was just him, or Texans in general, but I see it more and more in political life in the USA - everything has to be... with me or against me... black or white... love or hate... etc.
I hope this is just a passing trend and that tolerance and understanding return as the default society reaction again.

The Ellis Paul is strong in this one.

I'm interested in how you would assess the trend you describe, now that two years has passed. And what a couple of years it has been!

Pink noise has more interest and variation than this monotonal tedium. Ho-hum from the first bars

This is good, but there's a better live version on the ACL Fest 2004 DVD. Check it out if you get a chance. It blew me away!

I dig it. Pour me a glass of wine and throw some wood on the fire. This is one of those tunes which you notice the most when it's over... it leaves me wanting more, for sure.
Authentic and pure. 7.

Not the song for a beautiful early spring day. On a dreary winter day, it'd fit like a 6 but it's a Ho-Hum at present.

Oh my God, how many times do I have to hear drivel like this produced? I've heard this guitar based crap about 400,000 (approx!) 'kerching, kerching, kerchinga-ching'...
BLAND!

I don't understand what all the bitching and moaning about is. This is a nice song! 7
an idea for a new emoticon: a walk/don't walk sign to indicate that a song was pedestrian
Is this Howie's best song? No, but hearing this on RP introduced me to Howie and allowed me to look into some of his other stuff. For that I am grateful.

Good tune, but un-remarkable. Would like to hear more from this CD. A solid 7.
The first 25 seconds of this song sounded really nice. . .until Mr. Day ruined it with his awful singing. Thanks a lot.
I guess anyone can be a rock star.
too repetitive

funny...i was just thinking that. slow, dreamy and sadish.
I was thinking the same thing and searching for similar comparisons. Pretty good song anyhow!
This one really goes on too long and the faux Bono vocals are not a plus.
Howie was one of three artists (the other two being Anna Nalick and Chalkfarm) to play the big 4th of July party here in Tucson this year. He put on a really good show! Definitely deserves bigger success. Likeable tune, anyway.
How can the rating for this song be so low? It's brilliant!
There are better versions of this song, but still...

I got hooked on Howie Day after seeing him live when he opened up for Tori Amos about a year ago. He was awesome! Very high energy on stage! Spontaneous and creative with his delivery! I then bought his CD "Australia" and later his recent CD "Stop All The World Now".
The song "Ghost" is okay, but there are several others songs on his CDs that I prefer to listen to and recall when he sang them live. My suggestion is to go see him live first; you may find that you like him.

let's do howie D a favor and play some LIVE versions of his tunes on RP..especially this one. his studio versions don't even come close to capturing how much fun it is to watch and hear this kid stand on stage with just his guitar and a pair of delay loopers and build a much more interesting tune. if you haven't heard Howie Day live, you haven't heard Howie Day. period.

Now I realize that some songs are deep and some are entertaining. This one may be deep but it is certainly not entertaining. His brother, Morris (and the time), is just the opposite. I don't like him either.

After a wonderful 22 minutes of Jethro Tull dose, this is almost unacceptable.
A firm 1 best reflects my taste for this

Sure. :nodhead:
I heard a live version of this ... recorded at a radio station in the Boston area, I think ... and it was, forgive the pun, haunting. This version of the song isn't that bad ... but the live version was really very good, in comparison.

Love that Howie is on the station, but I agree that there are better songs of his to play. He really is quite amazing live. I saw one performer do the same thing, but not nearly as well. Yay! Howie Day!
Interesting that the Howie Day song to get the most mainstream airplay is the only one of his on the RP playlist. This is a decent song but can\'t compare to others on the album (More You Understand...please!!!)
Entertaining live show and a good album.

Wow, sounds like a carbon copy of Joseph Arthur to me. Except that a Joseph Arthur concert is actually a moving experience. He's not just showing off technological (or musical, at that) prowess: his lyrics are powerful. Nothing like the original, I guess. (pimp)

Don't care too much for this song, though.the only reason I know this song rather well, is that I hear it all the time.

I didn\'t like it the first time I heard it, and I don\'t like it now. It actually makes me kind of angry.

Nice. Hadn\'t heard this before.
His voice reminds me a lot of Joseph Arthur. The songs sounds a little more mainstream than Joseph\'s though. More Joseph Arthur please.
