I'm alone with what's left of my life
while the moon cuts the night like a knife
I am starved as the sigh of the stars
you're the pulse in the rhythm of the hours
turned to years but the night never ends
you heal me you open the wounds again
and any promise of dawn of day
is so far so far away
the lullaby of loneliness
the lullaby of loneliness
just a sick little trick of the light
just the moon rolling cold through the lips of the night
just a whisper like smoke on the tongue
dying words of a distant sun
just the murmur of fire in the vein
just the winding of time on its chain
just the shadows the longing the deep
of your song but it won't bring me sleep
the lullaby of loneliness
the lullaby of loneliness
the night wears your face
the night wears your face
while the moon cuts the night like a knife
I am starved as the sigh of the stars
you're the pulse in the rhythm of the hours
turned to years but the night never ends
you heal me you open the wounds again
and any promise of dawn of day

Pretentious drivel.
Mmmm. Nope, still a mess of a song.
This is painful.
Great song! Kind of Peter Gabriel-ish.
I like this.
The voice is a bit reminiscent of Paul Young from the 80's.

I Give the song an 8. Comments are the usual schlockfest.
"Schlock is an English word of Yiddish origin meaning "something cheap, shoddy, or inferior (perhaps from German Schlag, Yiddish shlak, meaning 'a stroke')"
In the field of science, "schlock" refers to shoddy methods or unreliable results. In art, "schlock" is sometimes used as a synonym for kitsch."
And what did your comment add to the discussion?
The techno of Fever Ray, the vocals of Iron and Wine, the ethereal wuftiness of Dead Can Dance...
Yep, I like it. Might need a couple more listens to rate it, but tentatively, I'll give it a 7.

Great album cover. The song? Ok I give it 5.
Like it; downloaded it. an 8
heard it back in 2004-5 or so, and it's still a nice recap back to the days of memories.
yep.....
groovin' with this one... `relating` as well...

If by "Lullaby" you mean "rip-off" and Loneliness you mean "Enigma" then I get it.
WORKS!!!

Tough crowd here, although it's a little hard to take them seriously when they spell like that.
I like this tune. I'm gonna download it.
Reminiscent of the mighty King Crimson, till the bridge at least.
LOVE THIS TRACK. Thanks.

Hauntingly appropriate.
Appropriately haunting.

Thought the same exact thing.

Interesting and relaxing, I would say.
Music's good. Voice's bad.
As other's said, I'm hearing a good bit of Robbie Robertson's 'Music for the Native Americans' thrown a bit further into the atmosphere on this. I like Robbie a lot better, but on first listen I like this.
Yeah but after the CCR through Hiatt set, these are cleansing.

Same here.

That's ''Skinamarink-e-dink-e-dink, skinamarink-e-dink-e-doo. I love you. Goodnight, Mrs. Calabash--wherever you are.''

Hauntingly appropriate.
I like the music, the backing vocals and the chorus. I think this would make for an interesting mashup with ?? Or a nice ambient piece if it were remixed to remove the parts where Aaron speaks.
The lyrics are good, but they all lead up to the line 'the lullaby of loneliness'. . . what a cheese lyric compared to what proceeds.
The cheese level here is very high. the "woohoo" female vocals, which are about 30 seconds too long, the random "world music" male cry, and then maybe a dirigdoo(?) at the end. Wow, seriously, I can't believe so many listeners let this song slide as above average quality. (6.2?)
Momma would you get me a rhythming dictionary for Christmas??
I bought this CD a couple of years ago after hearing it on RP. I like the music and the lyrics even more now than at first.

I agree. 7 at least.
Anyone who sings this badly should be lonely.

I wish there was less voice!
aaaaaaaarrrrrrrgh!!!!
I like this more each time I hear it. Haunting.
When a song starts with a life/knife line right at the top, you know there's little hope. ;-P
I gotta say, this is horrible!
I'm alone with what's left of my life ...
Wow, is that ever timely for me. Dayum.
Amazing track. I may have to see if I can hunt this CD down.
First time I have heard this, yep, definetly likin' this.......
Definitely a Rob Dougan aspect to this stuff. I likes :nodhead:
Its sounds like hes singing 'The Lullaby of the Mingers...'
Been too long since I heard this song, good stuff.
"The noon cuts the moon like a knife", excellent expression.
8/10.

Is that Nusrat I hear in the background?
This is a very... "interesting" song. I don't know what to make of it. I think I like it... but then again, I might hate it. Hmmm...
I can't see Nusrat singing with him unless it's a sample.

"No. Better get a bucket!"
This is a pretty good song. I like the vocals.

Yes, I'm hearing a lot of Robbie Robertson in there in the vocals and the music, with a little bit of Willie Nelson in the vocals as well.
I like this song a lot.

good comparison.
I like the music, not so much the vocals.

Same thought here. Good stuff!

I thought it was reminiscent of Al Stewart. Sure enough a couple songs later played Road to Moscow. I always liked Al. Cerebral.

Great soundtrack for this little drama I just this moment decided not to indulge in - about the post in the "Main Comments" (beta)that nobody responded to.

Odd. I don't feel passionate about this song being, or not being, in the rotation. But your objection makes me think I should at least give it a listen...
And from where I sit, it seems to be calling from a place that needs to be heard...
I dunno... I really like his use of the backup vocals. He has some talent. Cannot find him on Amazon but he has a Web site for those who are interested, which is simply https://www.aaronenglish.com/.
Bleeh, urp. There goes lunch.
A conglomeration of disparate elements that fails to hold together.
