Much worst than the original

This version of this song appeared on the Singles soundtrack and the band accredited to it was the Lovemongers. I'm guessing this was the name of the Wilsons side band?
Yes they actually have to create a different name to overcome the record industry, that way they have a lot more freedom than working as Heart
Did they add anything to this song at all? The instrumentation sounds exactly the same as the original, and the vocals are just as screechy as Plant's voice.
Sounds like page with his nuts in a vise.

You know, excuse them their 80s era and Heart was possibly the best female driven rock band ever. They can still rock out today. I'm not a huge fan of covers either, unless something new can be brought to them; but they were going for a true to the original homage here. I can think of few bands that could have done as good a job.

Well, really do not know what to say about this, other than I give them kudos for even attempting a cover of this.
Uncannily faithful rendition of an uncommonly difficult song. Had me fooled for a while.
Painful, Painful, "tune." Dental level pain.

Nice.

Agreed on the fat-slam admonishment, but I have to disagree with the 'pure talent' assessment. This sounds like a lot of yelling over some heavy-handed guitar picking to me. Towards the end it was hurting my ears.
did you ever hear the original?...they are doing this impeccably. they may be putting a little more heart (excuse the pun) into the vocals than the Zep studio version....but I wager that Plant would have done the same in a live setting.

One man's "yelling" is another man's old world harmonizing.

Excellent, uncommon cover. Pure talent. "Oh my gosh she's fat." Take that crap to the junior high cafeteria American Idol fans.

no reason to crush em....this is a great cover of a great song. probably better than anyone except zep could do... and not only that it's live...wouldv'e been a nice suprise to see this.

That's an understatement. I used to like them. Now they've gone the way of Meatwood Flack for me...down the tubes. ick. They just got boring. Maybe they can cover "Eat It" next.

The 80's were forced upon all of us I'm afraid...
Nancy Wilson=guitar goddess. Ann Wilson=totally underrated rock goddess singer. These women would be more respected if they had not taken that "slutty" turn in the 80's (which was forced upon them, according to both.) Take a listen to Nancy's "Live At McCabe's" for some lovely live acoustic music. One more thing..I remember reading interviews with the sisters in the seventies...they unabashedly admitted that they wanted to be the "female Led Zeppelin." When you listen to their "Little Queen" album, you find that they succeeded.

I dig this version. She can sing great when she's not cramming food in her mouth, eh gang?

Delicious.
Makes you wonder at just how woman-like Robert Plant's voice can be (yes, I know it's not him, but it fooled me for a second). But, he's cool anyway because any who mentions gollum and the ringwraiths in his songs is alright with me. Fat jokes = not cool (ok, sometimes they are, but not in this case)
RAWK! I love it. And I can't believe people are resorting to fat jokes. Ann Wilson has quite the set of vocal cords! BTW, the Wilson sisters do have an "unplugged" album of sorts, it's called The Road Home.

Really faithful cover. Normally, I'm not crazy about Heart, but this is quite good!
a good cover but nothing beat led zeppelin's version
Album should be called: Women: One\'s The Size of a Mountain
Is anyone else reminded of the Indigo Girls on this one? I was away from the computer when this came on and at first I thought it was one of the worst Indigo Girls songs I've ever heard... What a relief to find it's someone else entirely. I'm definitely not a fan of this song.

Looks like the CD title is incorrect. A little research tells me that the song actually came off a CD titled: Women: Live from Mountain Stage.
Good job girls! Hard song to cover, and their playing and singing is quite good, and is a great tribute to LZ.
Wilsons don\'t have an album/cd called Unplugged?
I like their arrangement on the new live album a little better. They seem to have gotten more comfortable with their performance of the song.

Reaction to your comment before she started singing and after she started singing
STOP THE ZEPPELIN PLEASE!
Like the singers, liked the original song, but this one just goes on too long.

Very well done!
I love the mandolins in this. Um...they are mandolins, right?
I\'ve always liked Heart.
To paraphrase John Cleese from \"George of the Jungle\": \"I knew Sandy Denny, and Nancy Wilson is no Sandy Denny\"

Tiz ok, but some things should just be left alone.

I believe this track is from The Bridge School Concerts Vol. 1 in which the Wilson sisters were credited as the "Lovemongers." Looks like it might have been performed on November 6, 1993 at the Bridge Benefit concert: Hyperrust.org Bridge Benefit Page Now if only there were a "Bridge School Concerts Vol. 2." If you ever get a chance to attend one of these concerts, go for it, it is pure all-acoustic radio paradise.

Maybe not, but it's entertaining and enjoyable

The song was taken from an Unplugged Collection with various artists. It's an EMI compilation from 1993, simply called "Unplugged" and has Acoustic tracks featuring, among others, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, REM, Duran Duran, Tasmin Archer. Hope you find it. /Uploader
Heart is (was) kind of known for their live covers of Led Zep tunes. I think the novelty was the fact that the vocals and lead instruments were sung and played by women. No, they don't add much to the original, but they do a really could cover. I always enjoyed hearing their Led Zep renditions at their shows, as did most of the crowd.

quite the excellent cover of the excellent song!! The Heart sisters\' voices are perfect here...
Does anybody remember just how staggeringly HOT the Wilson sisters were in the 70s? Yowza. Babes who could wail on a guitar. For a 15 year old in the frozen midwest, Nancy Wilson was just about perfect... :D

Ok...I\'ll be the first to rate this. A faithful rendition of a classic. I\'m in that same generation as the Wilson Sisters, and like them found my own musical tastes influenced by Led Zeppelin. The song is timeless, and they do it justice. ~rickd
just hearing it in the background...i couldn\'t tell it wasn\'t Zep. I\'m not sure if this is a compliment or not

Wow. I could tell it wasn't exactly the original, but I still thought it was Led Zep.
If anyone can pull this off, they can! Great...
