I like GW, I saw him at UCLA once, but he played the piano.
Winston is on piano...it's Keola on slack key guitar. :-) As albums go, this one's just ok. If you want to check him out, get Wooden Boat (1994). Still an excellent tune.
Ah, island music!!!! Too bad there's no hula emoticon. I did part of grad school in Hawaii and my last night there I went to a concert with Keola Beamer and several other musicians -- Raymond Kane and ?? -- then back to the East-West Center where a full out party was on and we danced all night. Too bad all of grad school wasn't like that. 8O Slack key is cool. The tunings are unique to the players and passed down from teacher to student (uncle to nephew, for instance). Used to be people wouldn't share their tunings very easily, which used to freak out the haole visiters. It's a kama'aina thing, bra! Guess that's changed.
All the notes dance ever so lightly on the ear. I'm being turned on to slack key guitar works. I'd heard of it before, but just the term. Thank you RP -- another window to the world opened.
Hawaiian? Huh? This is just plain good.
Intricate and cool. I don't know where the Hawaiian comments are coming from, but I still like this.

Forget that Don Ho crap. This is Hawaiian music! Saw the Beamer brothers perform at the Barnes & Nobles (or was it Borders?) near Waikiki. What a great impromptu show.
If this is Hawaiian music, where is the uke or the slide guitar? lol. I like GW, I saw him at UCLA once, but he played the piano.
I remember this from back in the KPIG days. Most pleasant memories

never woulda thunk george winston would be on something like this. always had him pegged for the touchy-feely stuff preferred by an ... a former ... whatever.
Nice yes indeed, But does it ever end?

Enquiring female minds want to know, what is so defective about the left one that guys are always willing to sacrifice it, or conversely, is the right one made of gold?
The right one produces Mojo.

Oops, my goof. It was my upload and I mispelled the CD title. It should be Kolonahe
