Blue skies smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies do I see
Blue birds singing a song
Nothing but blue skies from now on

I never saw the sun shining so bright
Never saw things going so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When you're in love, my how they fly by
Blue days, all of them gone
Nothing but blue skies from now on

Blue skies smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies do I see
Blue days, all of them gone
Nothing but blue skies from now on
Blue skies smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies do I see

Blue days, all of them gone
Nothing but blue skies from now on
Blue skies smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies do I see
Blue days, all of them gone
Nothing but blue skies from now on

Got this classic album when it first came out.  For those of you in the 70+ age group such as myself, the old standards hold a special place in our memories and we still perk up when one is played.

I was first exposed to them as a young child with my father playing them on his home-built amp and speaker system.  He was into radio from it's earliest days and even built a "magic box" that created synthetic stereo even before stereo became popular by phase shifting certain frequencies in the speaker system.  He later qualified as one of the highest electronic engineers in Florida.

I'm a younger fan. His warm voice coupled with sincerity has always me pay attention and listen!
Out of some reason I immediately thought this would be great on the Muppets Show as well.
Hail Willie
It's a little early but happy 90th birthday, Willie!

Great reminiscence (to someone like me who's turning 70 in just over a month). Thanks!

7.3??

There must be some salty RPers looking down their nose, saying "This is no Pink Floyd".

Great story!
Maybe one of these days he'll learn how to tune his guitar.
GODLIKE!
This song always reminds me of STNG when Data sings this to Riker and Troi!!!

But Willis gets a 7 so it stays in my rotation

And he has more than enough to pass around.

So how did this drugged out lazy hippy manage to stay so active (and so healthy) all these years?   From the wikipage:

During his childhood, Nelson grew interested in martial arts. He ordered self-defense manuals on jujitsu and judo that he saw advertised in Batman and Superman comic books. Nelson started to formally practice kung fu after he moved to Nashville, in the 1960s.[186] During the 1980s, Nelson began training in taekwondo and now holds a second-degree black belt in that discipline.[187] During the 1990s, Nelson started to practice the Korean martial art GongKwon Yusul.[188] In 2014, after twenty years in the discipline, his Grand Master Sam Um presented him with a fifth-degree black belt in a ceremony held in Austin, Texas.[189] A 2014 Tae Kwon Do Times magazine interview revealed that Nelson had developed an unorthodox manner of training during the lengthy periods of time he was on tour. Nelson would conduct his martial arts training on his tour bus "The Honeysuckle Rose" and send videos to his supervising Master for review and critique.[190]

I find if you listen on different devices, you'll get the songs repeating more.

why does this song make me sad? It's not supposed to, right?

Sorry you had to wait 16 years for this reply, but it's probably because the song is in a minor key.

I'm not sure if it's use in the musical play it came from was sarcastic or ironic, but you aren't the only one who picks up on the sad feeling of the notes, even though the lyrics seem happy.
Blue Skies by Irving Berlin in 1926.
Time to put this out to pasture.
And time to refresh things.
Replace with anything  from TEATRO.
RP is good but it is also  repetitious.
Willie is an icon and deserves better representation.

I cringe every time this plays. The guitar solo is horribly out of tune and Willie sounds like a hillbilly Mr. Rogers. Make it stop!
the whole album is delightful
One of the albums I gave my dad that was highly appreciated . RIP Geno.

Blue days all of them gone
Nothin' but blue skies from now on
Thank you Mr. Data.
He must sing this song as he takes a new wife nearly each decade.

Never been a big Willie Nelson fan, but this is quite good.
One more for the funeral playlist upon my death. My mom brought Willie into my life, and when she goes, I will play this song at her memorial, and anytime I want to think of her.
My wife says she likes a bit of Willy
Play anything from his TEATRO album. Much better than this cheesy song.

Fixed.

wtf?
I bless the day I found you
I want to stay around you
And so I beg you, let it be me

Don't take this heaven from one
If you must cling to someone
Now and forever, let it be me

Each time we meet love
I find complete love
Without your sweet love what would life be

So never leave me lonely
Tell me you love me only
And that you'll always let it be me

Each time we meet love
I find complete love
Without your sweet love what would life be

So never leave me lonely
Tell me you love me only
And that you'll always---let--it'be--me

His son Lukas recently did a PSA for 'Don't Mess With Texas' anti-littering campaign. His voice sounds a lot like Willie's, so much so I thought Willie might have done a new version.

Lukas Nelson is carving out a name for himself, he's the real deal.

Lukas is for SURE the man!  And on another topic, I'm going 8→9 on this gem of a standard/pop song.  Long Live RP!!

The National Poet Songwriter of Texas.
a legend and a master songwriter. not a vocalist. sadly, there are those who only know standards based on these awful attempts at them
I learned a lot of old standards by listening to this album as a kid.
Very smooth segue: Jacques Loussier Trio — "Gavotte In B Minor"    --> this.
Still not dead.

And THAT is a good thing.
This is probably my favorite Willie album. He had the guts and chops to cut a lovely album of American songbook standards--and this was, what, 40 years ago? Have you seen him lately? Thank the lord he knew not to quit.

But the good thing is, even at the end of their remarkable careers, some greats like him are still touring around the world, even some years ago in a totally unexpected and obscure venue like Seignosse-le-Penon in the South-West of France (I guess the closest equivalent in Texas would be Matagorda or Turtle Bayou). It proves how humble, sincere and generous such artists of his generation remain.

{#Yes} nice response, eveliko!!  Willie Nelson should be revered in the US, and I for one say Long Live Willie and RP!!

Happy Holidays folks!  If you love Willie and have a beserk sense of humour then check out "The Little Dealer Boy"
from Rolling Stone:
"Little Dealer Boy" made its prime-time debut as part of A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All!, a Comedy Central TV special that aired in November 2008, just four days shy of Thanksgiving.

I like Willie, but not this song, sounds like it should be during the end credits of some bad Hollywoood Movie.
I respect Mr. Nelson's long history of music and his talent. This song is absolutely dreadful.
The guitar solo is from "The Fraggles" :-D I'll play this really softly in the background when I have my next date :)

Why the personal attack? (and bold too, just so I get it, huh?) (subtle you are not) Are all Willie Nelson fans so dad-burned touchy?

What a guy. Saw him in concert last year with Toby Keith. I think touring 100+ days a year keeps him alive! He's now running his bus on veggie-ecco-diesel fuel, amd cruis'n his mind on some form of Texas loco weed. But he still sounds great.
Willie is the man. nuff said.

I inherited this CD from my grandmother, and always liked it. She had very eclectic tastes in music: Nat King Cole and Fine Young Cannibals were both in her collection... I didn't keep the Slim Whitman CDs, though. This song makes me think of her; a very cool lady.

Odd that I played this (Stardust) in the car on the way to work this morning. It was the first time I'd listened to it in many, many years. Reminded me why it's one of my top five albums. Thanks Bill, and whoever uploaded it. C.
sing it, Willlie!

One of my 1st \"10\'s\" too. Willie\'s the best, sings an amazing version of this. Without equal, really.
I know that I\'m supposed to reserve the \"10\" rating. Just had to give this one a 10. JUst perfect. No more. No less.

You don\'t say no to the Red Headed Stranger! :)
Nice. I just listened to Eva Cassidy sing this. Lots of blue skys today.
Never heard this track before. Like anything Willie, beautiful. Seeing him next month at Wolf Trap, 6th ROW!!!!! Woo-Hoo!!!! :D :D
That was truly wonderful. I recently picked up a CD with the late Eva Cassity singing this Irving Berlin classic. That is an inspiration as well.
