Oh well bless my soul
What's wrong with me?
I'm itching like a man on a fuzzy tree
My friends say I'm actin' wild as a bug

I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Hmm hmm hmm, hmm hmm
Yeah yeah yeah

Oh well my hands are shaky
And my knees are weak
I can't seem to stand on my own two feet
Who do you thank when you have such luck?

I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Hmm hmm hmm, hmm hmm
Yeah yeah yeah

Well please don't ask me what's on my mind
I'm a little mixed up, but I feel fine
When I'm near that girl that I love best
My heart beats so, it scares me to death

She touched my hand
And what a chill I got
Her lips are like a volcano that's hot
I'm proud to say that she's my buttercup

I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Hmm hmm hmm, hmm hmm
Yeah yeah yeah

My tongue gets tied when I try to speak
My insides shake like a leaf on a tree
There's only one cure for this body of mine
That's to have that girl that I love so fine

She touched my hand
And what a chill I got
Her lips are like a volcano that's hot
I'm proud to say that she's my buttercup

I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Hmm hmm hmm, hmm hmm
Yeah yeah yeah

Hmm hmm hmm, hmm hmm
Yeah yeah yeah
I'm all shook up

Classic in a very special way! I remember like it was yesterday, though I couldn't have been more than two or three, how my dad called my mother into the living room to see how I was bopping to this jam when he put it on the record player.  Hey, for real, my life was changed by Rock 'n' Roll... Thanks, RP, for keeping it lit!
I had no idea this was recorded at a tennis court

Interesting how a song about such intense emotion is so devoid of those feelings, just a casual bebop tune.  I guess that's why hard rock and R&B got so big in the 1970s, it wasn't devoid of any of that.  Just pulling a random song from memory, compare "All Shook Up" to "Kiss You All Over" by Exile, we went to that in just 20 years.  Kind of fascinating seeing music evolve.

It's the recording industry. Even if Elvis felt the lyric(s), especially in the 1950s, expressing feeling in the music, or at least the "new" rock music, wasn't important. It was all about the delivery. Elvis delivered.

Huh, I'm a bit surprised by the apparent low ratings for EP songs.  Yeah, he was an early version of Bieber, and most of his songs are pretty thin; still, this one is a CLASSSIC.  I've rated it a 9 although it's probably  more like an 8.x

Long Live RP!!

Sorry, but everything the King did is a perfect 10!!!!

I dunno.  7=Quite Likable, but not 8=Most Excellent or 9=Outstanding, and also better than 6=Pretty Good.  Most of the detraction is the comments, not the ratings.  It's an 8 for me.

I grooved to the segue into this from Paul Simon's "Graceland".  As for "an early version of Bieber"?  Yeah, they were both pop sensations, bad boys, and had "unfortunate experiences" with addictive substances.  But Bieber has adopted styles that others also have adopted.  Elvis became popular for doing things that no "popular" (=white) artist was doing.  Heavens, just look at the top songs from 1955, before Elvis hit the scene.  Cover artists like Pat Boone made "black music" "respectable" (his cover of "Ain't that a Shame" was #9 in 1955).  Forgive me for editorializing, and I'm not really an Elvis fan, but as cultural phenomenon, Elvis really is The King!

All the unbelievable Black Musicians, Elvis, The Beatles and Pink Floyd.
There's probably more Elvis imitaters in the world than all others combined, 'nough said!
Graceland to Elvis.  Bill is great.

***I totally agree with how badass Elvis was for his time.  And he served in the military which was pretty cool too.  And then he got TOO BIG (double entendre there...) and shit came crashing down....

I also liked the Graceland → the KING segue...BillG's a freaking genius at those segues, eh?  Even the obvious ones.  And you're right about how it used to be in America.... White vs. Black (Pat Boone vs. Little Richard) and then came the black sounding white guy and the music started to meld (as it should!) and yeah...Long Live RP!!

Funny you should ask.  Joe Fassler at The Atlantic wrote on this very subject:

love jeff beck's version !

I agree there isn't anything that makes this good. I have the sound turned off.

Was never a fan...I did enjoy the parody involving constipation..."I'm all backed up"...

Did he sing this on the Ed Sullivan Show?
It's too easy to forget the times that this song belonged in. Nowadays, it's simple and innocent. Back then, he was The Pelvis.

Doll all shook up.
Saw this gold album on that long wall in the Graceland house gallery last year......... very impressive, unlike the green shag carpet.
I'm sorry, there just isn't enough booze to make Elvis sound good.
Now that's R&R from it's early days! Ahh, jitter-buggin at it's best!

Well, this is certainly a pleasant surprise! Thanks Bill for always mixing it up!!
Cool!
elvis in '68 black leather = good elvis in '74 cape = bad. the entire album '56 is astounding. some of the stuff on 1 is not so.
Elvis is a nice antidote to The Church...and always has been.
Ok by me.....
Soooo much better than the 70's Elvis. Wide belts just didn't make up for all the drugs and booze and bad movies.
Elvis, you are the man!
