Good Golly Miss Molly, sure like to ball.
Good golly, Miss Molly, sure like to ball.
When you're rockin' and a rollin' can't hear your momma call.

From the early early mornin' till the early early night
You can see Miss Molly rockin' at the house of blue lights.
Good golly, Miss Molly, sure like to ball.
When you're rockin' and a rollin' can't hear your momma call.

Well, now momma, poppa told me: "Son, you better watch your step."
If I knew my momma, poppa, have to watch my dad myself.

Good golly, Miss Molly, sure like a ball.
When you're rockin' and a rollin' can't hear your momma call.

I am going to the corner, gonna buy a diamond ring.
Would you pardon me if it's a nineteen carat golden thing.
Good golly, Miss Molly, sure like a ball.
When you're rockin' and a rollin' can't hear your momma call.

Good golly, Miss Molly, sure like a ball.

Is the release date an error? Surely this pre-dates 1985... this is probably some compilation, but I like to know when the song first came out.  for the record 1958 just looked it up.
I just noticed this - is Bob Seger imitating Lil Richard?? And categorically failing….

Yes.  It's a little known fact that Miss Molly was second baseman for the Racine Belles in the '40s and '50's.

God bless good ole rock'n roll !!!

Not sure how we ended up with an inferior re-recording. Fixed.

I believe Esquerita (one of his mentors) had a major hand in it as well. Looks like he got his piano style (and possibly much of his look/style) from this guy.

Fantastic.

Bill or somebody, please drop this song until this is fixed as it really ruins the fun the song brings to your faithful audiophile listeners. The mp3 blip is about 15 secs from the song's end.
At the dawn of rock and roll, Richard was just the fella we needed. Aaaahwow!
Definitely an original...good every now and then

If it's too old, then you're too loud! Er, wait, something like that...
I know that this kind of music was responsible for Rock as we know it, and I'll give it it's props for that. But other than that, I can't stand this.
A great wake-up song for early mornings.
While this is an inescapable classic, Mitch Ryder's version of this (Devil In a Blue Dress / Good Golly Miss Molly) REALLY rocks.

Good Golly Pavarotti! :iamwith:

Dude, we all know Tom Jones invented rock n roll
I like Eddie Murphy's lyrics better as Lil' Richard Simmons: "Good Golly Miss Molly, You look like a hog, Well you better start runnin' Cuz it's much too late to jog!"

Yes, it sounds horrible. Anybody listening or reading this in the RP cockpit?

What a scary man! But the songs still have it.
one of the most surreal things that ever occurred to me happened a few years ago, when i'd first moved to LA and my dad was out visiting for the first time... we'd just spent the whole day slogging through the expensive tourist-traps on Hollywood Blvd -- the trinket shops, the Ripley's museum, the Walk of Fame, a mediocre and wildly overpriced lunch at Musso & Franks... we were broke, exhausted, cranky, staring bleerily at the footprints in front of the Chinese Theatre, when suddenly, this long black stretch limo pulls up to the sidewalk next to us, the window glides down, and there's a Jheri-curled, heavily-made-up face beaming out at my father -- "HI! I'M LITTLE RICHARD!" he shouts, extending his hand. Immediately pulled out of his torpor, my dad takes his hand, and shouts back: "HI, LITTLE RICHARD! I'M JIM!" After which, Little Richard deputized my father to give out little evangelical prayer books (with his head-shot tucked inside the back cover) to the other tourists milling around outside Mann's. Dad (a life-long agnostic) got so caught up in it he went back for a second handful... Now, I don't know what's weirder -- that story, or the fact that almost every time I've told it, someone tells me "Oh my God! That happened to me too!" :D

But if ever such a flaw suited the tone of a tune, ain't it that one?
The Queen of Rock & Roll. Outstanding.
