Vivaldi? Who's this guy? Probably just a one-hit wonder...
Love it! would like to hear the whole suite though.
Also can we get some Carl Orff?
Now this, THIS, is ROCK AND ROLL!
Probably the highest rated i've seen on RP....awesome
This feels like it's a little heavier in the rotation than I'm used to on RP. And that's a really good thing. So awesome, especially since it's starting to feel like summer here in MD.

What?! Einaudi is simply not in this class.

This isn't the right recording! The one and only is Anne Sophie Mutter with Karajan, and Wiener Philharmonic Orchestra!
And this: la wally sung by Wilhermina Wiggins Fernandez
from the movie "Diva". Soo lovely.
But: you do need both, tube preamp and two tube monoamps.
soooooo beautiful.
RIP Seiji Ozawa (1935-2024)
My question to all those who rated it a 3 or less.
WHY?
Look at those 10s!
We saw a string quartet perform The entire 4 Seasons in the Chiesa della Pieta - Santa Maria in Venice, Italy. Apparently that is the Church where Vivaldi composed his music. That was a fantastic, moving experience. Highly recommend if you get the chance.
This was probably as mind blowing centuries ago to those first listeners as Zeppelin in the 1970's was to many of us.
This makes me dizzy.

Like a carnival ride.

Or wearing a blindfold and getting spun around.
evokes my summer immediately past, on a splendid rare 23 degree day in the Rocky Mountains on Canadian Thanksgiving.
Sound great cranked LOUD!  In FLAC with great studio phones, amp & DAC.  Thanx RP!

You mean metal when it was still metal.

Heard this live just this past Saturday evening; the Aiken Symphony Orchestra.

It is really like the summer...waaaay too short

My goodness! Studied this in school and never knew his name was Antonio! Lol
Can we have a 11 box just for this song?
If this Vivaldi fellow expects to make it to the big time, he's going to have to get a cut and color.
cool cover tune

The one where Mayor Guliano had a press conference?
Covered by many metal guitarists, like Alexi Laiho. Vivaldi rocks!

No, it's not.  Ha-ha.
Just sometimes I wish there was an 11 Rating option
I kind of feel like I'm hearing a TV commercial from the 1980s selling diamonds, perfume, or a luxury car.  Anyone have any idea what brand that was?
Vivaldi's masterpiece inspires my soul and rekindles the fires of memories of every time and place I've ever heard it. I can also never forget seeing Mr. Ozawa at the Starbucks next to the Seijo Gakuen-Mae Station, where I changed from the Express to the Local on my daily commute along the Odakyu Line, when I lived in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo. I think it was around 2007-2008. He looked frail, as he had been suffering some ailments at the time, but had family members looking after him, and seemed to be cheerful. What an amazing musical talent, and I'm glad to hear that he's still among us in this realm that is better for his efforts!

A lot of wet seats at the time, I bet
In modern times this would have been heavy metal music. Friggin' awesome still!
Rick Wakeman has described The Four Seasons as the world's first concept album.

Was that the radio that starts with B, ends with E, and has 4 letters?
Must have been the Hard Rocker of his time. It still rocks centuries(!) later.
Vivaldi Rocks!!
It's nice, but I wish it didn't call to mind a commercial for <insert luxury product here>.

If I could just hear it with fresh ears, maybe live in a symphony hall, it would be much better I bet.

Every time this comes up I get mad we only get one movement and I have to go and listen to the whole concert.
I need a tissue.

I never think of myself as a classical music fan, and probably still don't, but damn when I hear it I start to doubt myself.

As of Nov 24, 2020:    51% of RP listeners voted this 10/10.

Stereo is definitely turned up to 11.

Every time BillG plays this I think it should be "Winter" as if one is on an out-of-control sled or snow skis!

Bill! That's some inspired segue-ing!

Also, this is a pretty solid rendition of Vivaldi. Kudos to these musicians for adding some life to the old warhorse.

The only reason I did not give this a "10" is because there is an even-better-than-Telarc Deutsche Grammophon "The Four Seasons" CD featuring the Israeli Philharmonic, Zubin Mehta conducting, and the Israeli All-stars:  Itzhak Pearlman, Pinchas Zuckerman, Isaac Stern and Shlomo Mintz.  Awesome, totally 5-stars!!
Wow, just in the nick of time... last day of Summer tomorrow.

Another recording to check out is by Il Giardino Armonico. They play on period instruments and on this one it sounds like they're shredding them!

I can just imagine the reaction of the string section when they were first handed the sheet music for this:
"Hey, can someone score Antonio some valium?"
