Shot, take it in. Shot of Indigo
Shot, take it in. Shot of Indigo
Shot, take it in. Shot of Indigo
Shot, take it in. Shot of Indigo
ooh, American Tale
What if we march us to the grave?
Or we make reason, an act of treason?
oi aye, ah ooooh....
Shot, take it in. Shot of Indigo
New World Scheme. Build but go slow...

One hand free, one on the rail

What if we make reason, an act of treason?
Fear drags Hope back to the cave...
Oi aye...take it in! Take it Indigo!
Shout, "take it out!" Shout, "the end!" and go for
Higher Life

Bill and Rebecca, if you like this, as do I, try some Great Big Sea. A Newfoundland band that made you stand up and dance at their concerts.

A law school classmate of mine wound up running the streetcar system in Bendigo for several years. From what he says, it seems like a neat town.

"shuck, take it in, try to bendigo" - wtf? What's a "bendigo"? Interesting enough song, though - 7 from the Nottingham jury.

Like a bad day of NRBQ. (NRBQ still holds the record for Worst Show I Ever Attended. Some Einstein booked them as opener for J. Geils Band and they were literally booed off the stage.) =1

"celtic"? I listen to an awful lot of modern "celtic" music and can hear no trace of the Celt in this one.
The misconception comes about because people are unable to comprehend the possibility that there can be folk music other than "celtic" (by which they mean irish)
Every country in Western Europe has its own folk tradition, related to the others one way or another.
This sort of bluegrass/folk-rock is influenced by the Scottish & English traditions, as well as of course, Irish.
English =/= Celtic

A new day, a new kind of mood — I didn't like this the first time I heard it, but now I hear a great bass line and a darn good song.

Love the bass line in this, one of the first I heard on RP and bought for what has become my "Radio Paradise favorites" playlist.

More run of the mill "pig 'n whistle" celtic-rock shite. Uninspiring stuff.

They've come to Cleveland to play twice, and both times I've missed them. I want to see them so badly!!
never heard of these guys, but seems fitting for a perfect, summer folk fest...
Makes me want to reduce my Carbon Leaf footprint.
now there's a whole lotta people sounding like this (again.)
"shuck, take it in, try to bendigo" - wtf? What's a "bendigo"? Interesting enough song, though - 7 from the Nottingham jury.
Aw, I heard the opening riff and thought it was going to be Shady Grove. Still pretty likeable so far, though.

Astute ovservation, at least in some context. Offshoot of DMB, no, but similar influences, yes. Like terroir in wine, the flavor (sound) bears similarities as they are all acquainted and from the same area where I happen to live (Richmond and Charlottessville, VA) Not an offshoot, just similar.

Didn't realize Carbon Leaf had a mandolinist...
Cool
This is a terrific band - they remind me strongly of Horslips, an old Irish band from years back. The disc "Indian Summer," is one of my favs.
I'm starting to recognize these guys whether I've heard the song before or not. I quite like 'em so far.

Echoes of Great Big Sea or maybe the Pogues.
Rum, sodomy and (eye)lashes
"Oh what will we do with the drunken sailor...?"
Perfecto for a Saturday morning.
Can't seem to control toe tapping and head bobbing along.
Apparently I rated it Outstanding a long time ago. This is my type of group! You seem to be starting a folk-rock or Celtic-type set! Wish I didn't have to go right now, thereby leaving this computer!
WOW! what a great song!! Never heard it before but its been a fantastic start to the day!
just what i needed to hear - thanks rp!
It's fun to hear this earlier version from Ether-Electrified Porch Music. I am much more familiar with the Five Alive version of the song. The comparison shows real growth in the band. They are great--probably my favorite find here at Radio Paradise!
Is it just me, or does the lead singer sound like the guy from OAR?
I saw these guys last night. I'm not going to run out and buy the CD or anything, but I liked their music much better than I expected to based on the two singles I'd heard (and disliked) on "mainstream" radio. the guitarist/mandolinist is terrific!
Great song. I think these guys keep getting better--if you haven't, check out "Echo Echo" and "Indian Summer".
I saw this performed at the Smoky Rill River Festival in Salina, Kansas in mid-June. Carbon Leaf sure knows how to rock the crowd. It's pouring down rain and nobody's moving.
What a great way to start one's day :) :sunny.gif:
excellent celt-rock fusion, singer reminds me of Michael Stipe or Josh Joplin a little at times, but otherwise if this song's indicative of their other work they're definetly up there with Great Big Sea and Enter The Hagas

The rest of the album is good, varies from more rockin' ( aurora, jan 9, traffic ) to more celtic/folky ( blue ridge laughing, home, ordinary eyes ), but I am a pretty fond of the band, too. ;) I've uploaded a few more tracks from this album and their previous album for review, so hopefully some more material will make it into RP's playlist. These guys will have a new album out in the next few months, too. :)
This is the best song by Carbon Leaf that you've played.
I like it! It reminds me of a band that a friend of mine had in university.

Very nice bad... even if i'm slightly jealous of them... stealing my idea and all
Thank God its not that "marry mary mac" song again!
thought this was flogging molleys at first
like it
Thanks for playing something other than \"The Boxer\"! It\'s nice to hear something else from these guys.
