Without Booker T and the MG's there is a whole lot of pop, rock, and  even metal that doesn't come about the same way.
Thanks for digging this out.  "Green Onions" gets most of the airplay -- what little there is-- but Booker T and the MGs turned out so much more great stuff.  Their homage album to the Beatles' Abbey Road just about turned my brain inside out.

Yep. That very thing just happened with BT.
and lots of other times. Leon Russell's Stranger in a Strange land, same thing!
and also I feel educated more broadly with newer music on RP.

nice organ.
Get out the skinny jeans, pointy boots, striped shirt and Groove!
Everything is great about this.... except the album cover.
Booker T playing the Hammond B3 with a Leslie is godlike unto itself.  Backed by the staggering talent of the MG's made them untouchable.

so damn good.....love his organ style
I can't help hearing the 70's Spiderman theme in this.
Not familiar with Gilligan's Island, but I am hearing a mash-up between Greensleeves and House of the Rising Sun. Still a very interesting song!

The Skipper too,
A millionaire and his wife..."

I listen to RP often enough that, from time to time, I say to myself, "I'm starting to hear such and such a song/artist a bit too often." Then Bill goes and throws something like this in the mix, and all is again right with the world.

It's been 16 years n4ku, and you still haven't told us if Bill ended up giving  you the loan.

Weird, I don't remember that episode, but it does sound like something the Captain would say to Gilligan.

"When you hang a man, you better look at him."
Oh my! I'm transported to 1969, kneeling on the floor next to my GE record player playing 45 RPMs, as an 9 year old, all over again. Over Easy was even better.
enjoyed this! Saw Booker T recently and they were phenomenal, had no idea how many great songs they had...
So Groovy!
Depends... Are you a Ginger or Mary-Anne type?......
Gilligans Island!?!?  Whaaa?

Yeah, it's a pretty cool arrangement.  Odd that of all comments, about 90% of them bring up this song's resemblance to the Gilligan's Island theme, while only a few mention that it is the theme song to the western "Hang 'Em High".
For some reason I really like this blast from the past.

Ennio Morricone Spaghetti Western on a Hammond Organ! Love it!

Yes, but Morricone did not compose the music for Hang Em High. That was the recently departed Dominic Frontiere.

Yes... and occasionally bits of the Pink Panther theme as well. Gilligan's Island as done by Henry Mancini?
Anyone else keep hearing Gilligan's Island ("...the millionaire and his wife...") Or maybe the primer fumes are getting to me...
Ennio Morricone Spaghetti Western on a Hammond Organ! Love it!
I like Booker T but this one gets pretty repetative.
To my ears, it rarely gets better than Booker T. and the MGs.

Okaaaayyyy! "Green Onions" next? :D RParadise, I'm right there with you.
God, I just love that sound of that organ. Booker T. was a genius, and very underappreciated today.
