So much for the city
Tell me that you'll dance to the end
Just tell me that you'll dance to the end
Hey, hey, you're the Monkees
And people said you monkeyed around
But nobody's listening now
Just don't go back to Big Sur
Hangin' around
Lettin' your old man down
Just don't go back to Big Sur
Baby, baby, please don't go
Aw, baby, baby, please don't go
So much for the streetlights
They're never gonna guide you home
No, they're never gonna guide you home
Down at the steamboat show
Yeah, all the kids start spittin'
I guess it didn't live up to the billing
Just don't go back to Big Sur
Hangin' around
Lettin' your old man down
Just don't go back to Big Sur
Baby, baby, please don't go
Aw, baby, baby, please don't go
Just don't go back to Big Sur
Hangin' around
Lettin' your old man down

This song would be a sweet, great AM radio hit. Like 93 KHJ. Does such a thing exist anymore?
wow! khj! i used to listen to them from about '60 to '67. does anyone remember "humble harv"? i think he got thrown into prison for killing his wife!

i love big sur, too, but it needs a better song than this to represent it.
i got one... "california" by the beach boys. i uploaded it and it got "the boot". it is a great tribute to a great state.
My rating on this song just keeps droping everytime I hear it..
Wow, this is awful.
Its either the venue or a matter of taste :D
At the Fox (in Atlanta) the sound was very distorted and washed out, so you couldn't really hear the cool sound of his voice.

So what's the verdict? Good live, or shitty?
Just got back from vacation along the California coast where I spent a night in Big Sur. This song was stuck in my head the entire time I was there. Stupid catchy songs!

I saw these guys open up for the Pixies, last night. They sound pretty good live.

I like this song! And who WOULDN'T want to go back to Big Sur? I mean, LOOK at it?
I first heard this song right after I had visited Big Sur and thought the same thing. Definitely one of the most beautiful places I've been too. The temperature will vary by 30 degrees or so as you meander up highway one. A half mile or so inland it'll be 90 degrees and quickly go back down to 60 as you get closer to the Pacific. Being from the East Coast, I had never experienced a micro climate like that. Despite what The Thrills are saying, I will try to get back there.

The music sounds like the Smiths to me. Neither good nor bad, just does to me.
Just does -to you- is right I would suspect.
....Well, can I at least go back to Little Miss?? :grumpy.gif:
Ok song but overplayed here.
they sound so much like the lightening seeds. that's who i thought it was in the beginning. Yes poppity goodness!

Sweet pop goodness.... :) Makes my heart shine!
I like this song! And who WOULDN'T want to go back to Big Sur? I mean, LOOK at it?
So poppy it's teeny-boppery. But it's so happy. And happy is good. Especially when business day is almost over.
I thought it was Vicksburg... anti-(Civil) War song.
This sickningly sweet London-pop song is one of the most successful ear-worms ever. Now I'm gonna humm this crappy tune all day.
who in their right mind wouldn't go back to Big Sur? It's heaven on earth!

I agree, this is really getting old with too much airplay.
agree also, and after seeing them live (dead?) a few times doesn't do it for me. anyone else seen them live? so unimpressive and boring.

Terrible mix.

Yup. Time for this cut to move on --- if it's The Thrills to be played, how about something different?

Love the Banjo.

Sounds like a folkier version of The Flaming Lips.
My initial thought was this is Flaming Lips as well.

Make it stop!
Zulu, ahead Cheese factor 10!
Nice, I like some of these bands that are sliding a little poppish 60's into their sound, Rooney is another one I've enjoyed of late.
I dig it!
was that the partridge family?
This song sort of gets in your head like some sort of intersteller parasite that compels the ships captain, delirius with pain and loss of brain matter, to enter the airlock without a spacesuit to make a big mess of himself.
Great tune.

Why don't they want me to go back to Pittsburgh? Oh, wait...nevermind.
I hear the signature guitar riff from PF's "Fearless" in this song.
More Thrills, please :)
Hey, I like this song...
I got it on a NOW That's... CD a friend from Scotland got me...
From the little I've heard from these guys they are great! I've just booked to see the live in Manchester on the 8th October so I'll fill you all in later on how they were...
