Gimme a word, gimme a sign
Show me where to look
And tell me what will I find
What will I find
Lay me on the ground
Fly me in the sky
Show me where to look
And tell me what will I find
What will I find
Yeah, oh
Heaven let your light shine down, ohh
Heaven let your light shine down, ohh
Heaven let your light shine down, ohh
Heaven let your light shine
Love is in the water
Love is in the air
Show me where to go
And tell me will love be there
Will love be there
Teach me how to speak
Teach me how to share
Teach me where to go
And tell me will love be there

Surprisingly good for such s "made" woman. Awesome band backing her. Hard to believe I'm giving the Dollster an 8, but this is a great cut.

Her new album "Rockstar" is, to me, a rather fun listen. No matter what you might think of her music you can't argue with the fact that Dolly is a treasure. The world would be lucky to have more people like her in it.
STOP STOP STOP!!!! I have to change the feed whenever this comes on. I cannot STAND her baby voice!!!!

Hate the song, love Dolly - we’ll call it a draw.
I hate Dolly Parton's singing, but mmmm I sure "Like To See Dolly Parton's Tits" lol.

As a Scot who grew up during the Punk era, I have to thank my good lady wife for educating me that Dolly is a real star. A few weeks we watched a documentary about Dolly, Emmy Lou and Linda. Me being a real pleb, (secret fan of Linda) had never heard of the collaboration between these Queens of US music. Funny thing is, on the male singer front Scotland and the UK in general is miles in front of the US, when it comes to male singers, but when it comes to ladies - hats off to the USA - Dolly, Linda, Emmy-lou, Janice, Joni, Tracy, Diana, Aretha, Billy, Debbie and countless others are marvellous and adorable. But who on the male side can beat Mercury, Ure, Sommerville, Jagger. Plant, Lake, Clapton, Gabriel, Alex Harvey (remember him) etc etc.
Amen Sir Scott. I grew up in NY in the punk era as well and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE RP and have done so for 20 years.

Fan freakin tastic!!
Dolly Parton what the antithesis of all the music I loved when I was a young man. Now I am 50, I really appreciate this.
I love that you can still hear Dolly on RP. She is such a beautiful person. She shines!
Weirdly good. Fun & unexpected. Good recording also re SQ. Compressed but what isn't. That's what she said.
I'd never heard Dolly's version before now (thanks RP). I have an interest in contemporary folk and bluegrass, enough to be familiar with some names. If Dolly Parton ever covers one of your songs with Jerry Douglas listed as guitar player and Allison Kraus as "backup singer" you should consider yourself truly honored. BTW Jerry's bluegrass cover of "Hey Joe" is smokin' hot.
I'll give it an 8 on first listen.
Brilliant

Love me some Jerry! A little research indicates she recorded it with Nickel Creek, but Jerry is credited on the album. So I think it's him.

I'm no country music fan, but as a music lover it's easy for me to appreciate those harmonies and that musicianship and like the song despite my prejudices. That said, maybe 30 to 60 seconds shaved off the end? :-)
Yikes. Played on the 'Mellow Mix' channel? Glasses shattering in the kitchen. Sorry, Dolly. This is a miss for me.
Why I love and support Radio Paradise.
Innovative in a retro sort of way, a very good rendition

This time, though, I don't agree with my 13 year ago self - I am surprising myself now by realizing that I like this version better than Collective Soul's. In my opinion, the lyrics just fit better with Dolly's voice and style, and the great bluegrass backing works really well too. So, I guess it goes to show that musical tastes CAN change over time!

Ms. Parton has been consistently wonderful with just about everything she tries and in surrounding herself with very capable musicians. She manages to pull this off well, despite the odds. I'm impressed!

I think they meant that the odds are usually against you of taking a good rock song and making a good cover of it, perhaps even more so when you cover it in a different music genre altogether. I concur with the original poster here, I'm impressed too.
The rhythm section does a great job of driving this song along. My toes are a' tappin'!
Dolly Parton is a cross-genre treasure!

Leave it to a good ol East TN mountain girl to take a great rock song and slap the shit out of it with some beauty.
Makes you wonder how this song didn't start out as Bluegrass. Better than the original.
Kind of a bland version, but I love Dolly Parton and her willingness to do stuff. Also great bluegrass solos.
Followed Collective Soul's "Reunion." Well played, RP.
I rated this a one on first hearing, I must have been in a bad mood or something.

H8 all you want. She nails this and "Stairway to Heaven". These covers seem improbable, but they work because she understands music and understands what the songs are saying and says them in her own way with true feeling.
There are few artists with the grace, confidence and skill set that Dolly Parton has. She is a true American treasure.

There are times when the surprise on RP matches your need. So precisely is her energy and musicality - band too - totally delivers the pick-me-up message of the lyrics. Bravo Bill and Rebecca - for this is your message too. In all the ways we RP folk can, need and wish to hear.

Awful.
Wow. So good.
Unique music choice (for Dolly as well as RP), here but make no mistake, Dolly Parton is 100% pure talent:
Parton's music includes 25 Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)-certified gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards. She has had 25 songs reach No. 1 on the Billboard country music charts, a record for a female artist (tied with Reba McEntire). She has 41 career top-10 country albums, a record for any artist, and she has 110 career charted singles over the past 40 years. She has garnered nine Grammy Awards, two Academy Award nominations, ten Country Music Association Awards, seven Academy of Country Music Awards, three American Music Awards, and is one of only seven female artists to win the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year Award. Parton has received 47 Grammy nominations.
In 1999, Parton was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. She has composed over 3,000 songs, including "I Will Always Love You" (a two-time U.S. country chart-topper, as well as an international pop hit for Whitney Houston), "Jolene", "Coat of Many Colors", and "9 to 5". She is also one of the few to have received at least one nomination from the Academy Awards, Grammy Awards, Tony Awards, and Emmy Awards. As an actress, she has starred in films such as 9 to 5 (1980) and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982), for which she earned Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress, as well as Rhinestone (1984), Steel Magnolias (1989), Straight Talk(1992) and Joyful Noise (2012).

Not a big country music fan- but this lady has class. She has always had that "in you face- F- U if you don't like it" attitude, about as far away from one of those Tammy Wynette standin' by her trifling man types as you can get.
Interesting spin. Love Dolly. So sick of the original...so this works for me. Jerry Douglas and instrumentalists really are stellar!
