When things go wrong
When the scent of her lingers
And temptation's strong
Into the boundaries
Of each married man
Sweet deceit comes callin'
And negativity lands
Cold, cold heart
Hard done by you
Some things look better baby
Just passin' through
And it's no sacrifice
Just a simple word
It's two hearts living
In two separate worlds
And it's no sacrifice
No sacrifice
No sacrifice at all
Mutual misunderstandings
After the fact
Sensitivity builds a prison
In the final act
We lose direction
No stone unturned
No tears to damn you
When jealousy burns
Cold, cold heart
Hard done by you
Some things look better baby
Just passing through
And it's no sacrifice
Just a simple word
It's two hearts living
In two separate worlds
But it's no sacrifice
No sacrifice
No sacrifice at all
I gave my heart
I gave my heart
I gave my heart
I gave my heart
I gave my heart
I gave my heart
I gave my heart
I gave my heart
I'm old enough to have, unfortunately I did not hear of her until the 90's.
Plenty of breath taking! Better when her voice kicks in halfway through. True to Elton's pronunciation of sackerifice!
WOW
Same here. same opinion
gorgeous voice
Go back to 70s Elton for the good stuff. Schlock and mall music was all we got out of him from the late 80s on.
This is that one for me.
Because That Girl just called me a week ago for the first time in 22 years and we had a 12 minute chat.
Jay-sus.
I need to meditate. Big time.
Great vocal performance but the composition and source is as dull as dishwater.

Nonsense! If it was just an Elton song, you might have a leg to stand on. But not when Bernie Taupin is also involved.

Sinead does Elton John and Bernie Taupin proud.
Nothing compares 2 Sinead covering a great song! :)
Tricky Ziggy! Ha, I see what you did there.
It got my attention, and I recognized the words. I didn't realize it was an Elton John song until I read the comments. I don't care for his stuff anymore, but this is amazing. It immediately calmed me down at my desk at work.
She's singing with such restraint that its hard for me to continue listening.
I agree with you on both counts. I recommend to sit in a dark room, turn the volume up to 11, and take it all in. The power of a voice as an instrument, makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. This CD is in regular rotation for me, even though I'm not an Elton fan. I'd love to see it revisited. Imagine the interpretations by the likes of Coldplay, the Killers, White Stripes, MMJ,....Beyonce?
Reminds me of Peter Gabriel's remake of "Here Comes the Flood." The first version is unlistenable. The second is amazing.
Wow. What a great cover. I am inspired to buy this single and possibly her latest album which has gotten raves.
Much to dweepy!
I don't like Elton's version. Sinead's is great.

I second this motion...Not a huge Sinead fan...but her version is superior to Elton's original.

How about playing some of the other tracks from this amazing album? Bruce Hornsby's "Madman" and Eric Clapton's "Border Song" come to mind.
That's some funny s#!t.
Pausing to turn this up to 11. By far my favorite female singer, and how she remade this (mundane by Elton's standards) song is really incredible.
Thanks Bill!
Thanks Bill!
In fact, I like it better than the original.
though I'm not sure why she gave her hall...
