Strange change to the vocal production part way through.  Doesn't improve it to my ears.  Overall, not a fan of the artist, as usual.  I think she chose the whiney one to do out of the track choices given, as usual.  Perhaps she should have had a go at "Saturday Night".

Had to tab back into RP and see who this was, wow! Sinead, go figure. Then I YouTube'd the original and I do barely remember seeing the video at the time. I do recall that hat. Like so much of Eltons later stuff it's completely forgettable. This cover is completely deserving of it's own praise. I won't even think of it as a cover.

Go back to 70s Elton for the good stuff. Schlock and mall music was all we got out of him from the late 80s on.

This is that one for me.
Because That Girl just called me a week ago for the first time in 22 years and we had a 12 minute chat.

This one rarely makes it to the list of the "Top 20 Best Covers" and I'll never understand why.

It got my attention, and I recognized the words.  I didn't realize it was an Elton John song until I read the comments.  I don't care for his stuff anymore, but this is amazing.  It immediately calmed me down at my desk at work.

I agree with you on both counts. I recommend to sit in a dark room, turn the volume up to 11, and take it all in. The power of a voice as an instrument, makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. This CD is in regular rotation for me, even though I'm not an Elton fan. I'd love to see it revisited. Imagine the interpretations by the likes of Coldplay, the Killers, White Stripes, MMJ,....Beyonce?

Elton's version was so overproduced, but this one is beautifully stripped down and simplified.

Reminds me of Peter Gabriel's remake of "Here Comes the Flood." The first version is unlistenable. The second is amazing.
