spring is frozen now I'm stuck in low
wrapped with wire, tapped to the heart
can't find no poison, now I've got no cure
(the) fangs are stuck inside my skin
payne county line
watching unjust claims
one man's righteousness is another man's
long haul, sentence carried out
long haul, counting the miles
to the four corners of the world
spring is rusted shut, (faith's) coiled and cracked
apparitions worth their weight in gold
scratched in metal, name erodes away
hands are scarred, heart is charred
burnt though, and ashen
trip on fence post line
sifting through the remains
one man's close pursuit is another man's
last chance, make it through the divide
last chance, suffer the weight or get buried by this
black heart, sweeping over the land
black heart, crawling its way
to the four corners of the world
wrapped with wire, tapped to the heart
can't find no poison, now I've got no cure

Sounds like Portishead at first, thats a good thing! BillG: spin this up 7 -> 8
Sounds like an old Moody Blues take off, lacks rhythm..

Bill, you should play Crumble sometime - a side of these guys seldom seen. They played it live in Tucson last November - it was fantastic.

That's funny, every time I watch Dexter, I swear I hear Calexico.

Big fan of these guys. Don't care for this song though.
It doesn't matter how good the song is if the fidelity sucks. The best song in the world can still sound like sh*t!

This song is really good. While it played at almost mute level in my office, I almost thought I was hearing the violins play the Edward Scissorhands boy choir part.
I can see the comparisons to Portishead, whom I f-ing love. This has a finer grit. Calexico DO it for me.

Calexico is one of my favorite groups
Did I just blow a speaker?

I'm sure Portishead sang a song that went something like "Give me a reason". Could be wrong, but this has moments where I can hear both songs at the same time.

"Glory Box". Thanks for pointing out a subtle similarity that I had not noticed, but is clearly evident now.
From my favorite Calexico album...which wasn't easy to choose!
Does anyone else hear Marianne Faithful?
some real garbage
Love this song, love Calexico, they are fantastic!
This is Calexico?! Holy eclectic, Batman!

This one right here is a good place to start. I'd say I even prefer this one to Garden Ruin, though I do like them both very much.
oooh, i like this, especially that violin beginning
Calexico meets Zero 7.....

I love this scary sounding song!
Is this a male or female vocalist? I thought it was Marianne Faithful.
Funny, I thought it was Patti Smith when the song first started. Very nice, though.
The quintessential Highway 101 song for the Heat.
pretty good, I think
One of my fave Calexico songs, great in concert too! Thanks RP for exposing me to this great band, even though they're from my own backyard...

I like this one, but I think it might sound better with a female lead singing.
I hear you. Although it would be rather close to Hooverphonic then. Not a bad thing at all!!

They've already aged pretty well. I love this.
This song would be great as an instrumental. The beginning caught my attention -- but then, sadly, the singing began.

this sounds errily like Babybird's 'Take me back', from the album 'There's something going on".
good song either way.
They did such a great gig in Frankfurt, Germany on April 25th. Iron&Wine were participating as well. As a special surprise they featured Chris Cacavas live on stage. I'm still impressed!!

I thought this was gonna be a new version of Glory Box.

Wasn't all that enamored of the other Calexico I had heard, but this has piqued my interest.
Err - it's a got a little dark in here, hasn't it?

Just uploaded "Not even Stevie Nicks" from "...Wire". Wish it luck.
Dark and interesting. Hmm.
Reminds me of The The... great song!
A song that does well to showcase what these Tucson boys are really capable of. Excellent.

I hear a bit of the Violent Femmes in here, strangely.

Or Chach - also excellent. This one doesn't get the rotation it deserves.
