Doctor I've got a problem with my imagination
I don't use it any more
I close my eyes and I try to see all the people living life in peace
When I close my eyes all I see is what's in front of me

Doctor I've got a problem with this consolation
I don't want it any more
In this candyland, the clutching hand always reaching
We take care of ourselves while the rest are weeping

Once upon a time there was a little baby
Bringing light to the world
As the story goes, and everyone knows a child messenger of peace
If not through us then through them, would you speak?

'Cause I got a problem with my imagination
I need you to help me see, see
Promise me.

You're probably thinking of Caitlin Cary.  Caitlin's recorded some nice stuff since Whiskeytown broke up.  I'll upload a track or two for Radio Paradise's consideration when I get a chance.  If you're curious, you can also check out her music on Amazon here:

Her bio on her web page doesn't mention Whiskeytown.

Under the Table and Dreaming

Quite enchanting........
Did Catie Curtis do some songs with Whiskeytown?
Fantastic! Voice, music, song-all great. But most of all-I know what she's singing about here and I agree with her.
Very nice!
Confessional psychotherapy and cynical politics masquerading as a folk song. Glad I'm wearing black today. Well, at least she doesn't have a drippy, JoniMitchellesque way of singing it. Wait, strike that. 1.

An amazing and emotionally deep song from a great singer songwritter ...this young lady gets top marks in my books, she's written some great material, listen to (or read below) the lyrics to this song, very powerful!

Perhaps you folks are confused about what you're commenting on. The line "I died in a car crash" is from the next song, Passage by Vienna Teng. Here are the lyrics to this song:
Doctor I've got a problem with my imagination I don't use it any more I close my eyes and I try to see all the people living life in peace When I close my eyes all I see is what's in front of me Doctor I've got a problem with this consolation I don't want it any more In this candyland, the clutching hand always reaching We take care of ourselves while the rest are weeping Once upon a time there was a little baby Bringing light to the world As the story goes, and everyone knows a child messenger of peace If not through us then through them, would you speak? Thought this was Dar Williams for a moment.............
Holy crap! I've never heard this before and it's a very telling piece emotionally...Hidden beneath, in the undergrowth of the story is an extreme honesty...whew...
Nothingness
probably the most intriguing album cover I've seen in years....
Nice story telling set for today Bill! Alive, Strawberry Fields, Where to Now St. Peter and now Doctor (problem with my imagination!).....
Love Caties's "Truth from Lies" recording. The first cut, You Can Always Be Gone, sets the mood for a wonderful record.

A comment that has no place anywhere. This from a man who lists sex on his favorite activities list. Must have forgotten to mention that this was only with unwilling rodents or stuffed animals.
Very nice.
Gorgeous :umbrella.gif:
Just lovely - thanks

That comment and this song both remind me of Garrison Keillor's reaction to a female singer who sang on his show once: "Proof that women really do sing better than men." Great tune.
Very bad idea to put this song after "Fallen" by Sarah McLachlin, and I mean bad for Sarah. This is the sort of daring yet nuanced path Sarah should be going down, not the same song over and over ala Kenny Rogers.
Well the song made me look up and listen
Beautiful melody and a voice like Sarah McLachlan. I didn't know Catie Curtis. I give this a 9.
So glad to hear this. She's singing in my area in a few months. Guess I will be going. Thanks.

I read this in the manner of William Shatner and that way I don't feel sick!

Ok, ok, you broke me-this is my next CD purchase. All the songs I've heard from this are just beautiful.

I think this song is beautiful. Or it touched a nerve as I sit here sorting papers mindlessly.
