Deadly serious. This is one of the best The Cure songs ever, and I'm a true The Cure aficionado, appreciating their Three Imaginary Boys and Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me and Disintegration albums the most. This song, though, is right up there among their finest. I've felt this to be the case ever since it first surfaced, inconspicuously, over 15 years ago.
Equally misplaced is the bashing, by a preceding poster, of another late song by another great band, New Order. Waiting for the Sirens' Call is an amazing album, and so is the title song. (From the same album, I appreciate Who's Joe?, Krafty, and above all Jetstream even more.) Again, I'd rate these late New Order songs on a par with classics collected on their Substance album back in the 1980s.
Seen in this light, Bill's choice to play these 2 Cure & New Order tunes back-to-back makes perfect sense. Both are great late songs by bands one traditionally associates with the 1980s.
Horribly underplayed. Rating 10.

Its the full volume hair that really shows the resemblance between Smith's stage persona and Edward Scissorhands, that film from the early 90s.
If Robert Smith and Tim Burton havent collaborated, perhaps they should.
throw neil gaiman and some of the incarnations of Sandman into the mix as well.
Has this album cover been elongated so that Fat Bob Smith looks less, well, fat?
Substandard reunited New Order song followed by substandard b-side Cure song. Two bands I otherwise really enjoy sucking in sequence.

It's rather unseemly to be discussing what's been picked from somebody's arsenal.
Please PayPal me $40 so I can get the coffee I spewed cleaned off my desk.
Vocals for Robert Smith aren't in question. Over 25 years of recording backs this up. Sometimes low-key is a better approach. Decent tune.

Questionable vocal talent.
Unquestionable lyrical and musical talent. Can't have everything. And don't have to, if what there is is more than enough. In fact, unbeatable.

the cure = always a good bet (imo :p)
... oh and i DEFENITELY third the "MORE SMITHS" comment!! :D
Horribly underplayed. Rating 10.
This is my favorite Cure song.
I second the vote for more Smiths.
First good song in the past half hour....sorry feeling less than generous to the previous offerings.

Wow... I haven't heard this on the radio since KROQ was worth listening to, at least 10 years ago. Thanks!
Yes... maybe even 15 years ago. Great song!!!
Not much substance to this droning song.
Sounds like the Cure covering a song by the Cure. Pretty sub-standard for them. Just decent.
Karaoke Cure? Blech.
Yet another perfect pop song from the Cure.
One of the most diverse and under-rated groups of all time.
No wait, Hootie and the Blownfish are much better.
P.S. I Love Heeb!

B-sides are B-sides for a reason. This is a pointless Cure song, they have like 1000 better ones in their arsenal. Whoever picked this one out?
Apparently, with the average rating showing 6.5, you're outnumbered.
