Does anyone hear a bit of Bob Mould in this guy's voice? Not a bad song.....
Dead on, Mark. I raced here to see if anyone else heard it. Nice call. I tried uploading 'If I Can't Change Your Mind' but Bill and Rebecca weren't interested. Maybe I'll try some Husker Du instead...
Decent tune, though the overdubbing or digital effect on his voice is tiring.
This song is really growing on me, the music box lullaby undercurrent and the beautiful harmonies have finally won out over the somewhat maudlin lyrics ;) I heard it live for the first time a few weeks ago, and it was even more stunning...
I'm a dedicated Carbon Leaf fan and must objectively say this one seems aimed a little more toward the pop/rock radio crowd (hey, gotta pay the bills). Still not bad though - especially if you know of and appreciate their other, better stuff!
Kudos to RP for keeping the "Leaf" in rotation
peter murphy
he sounds like peter murphy for crying outloud!
mark sandman?
Reminds me of an indie band like Red House Painters with modern rock production. I kinda like it. Need to listen some more before passing judgement. Definitely listenable though.
EDIT: Actually, it's that "When Iiiiiaaaeeeiiii" vocal hook that makes me like it. :)

Hoobastank? Yuck.... didn't hear that, but I'll give it a few more listens before insulting them with that comparison...... Mark1970 wrote:

No, I didn't, but that's not a representative opinion here, because I don't know Bob :)
Quite likable. I think I've heard better tunes from these folk

like i said about one of the other cuts from these folks... good, predictable sound
grabs your ear at first, but may not sustain test of time like tiffany
