've got this feeling that there's something that I missed
(I could do most anything to you...)
Don't you breathe
Something happened, that I never understood
You can't leave
Every second, dripping off my fingertips
Wage your war
Another soldier, says he's not afraid to die
Well I am scared
In slow motion, the blast is beautiful
Doors slam shut
A clock is ticking, but it's hidden far away
Safe and sound

It's amazing how many mediocre UK bands have a large following in the US. U2, Coldplay, Travis, Elbow and these clowns are pretty much derided over here by anyone even vaguely interested in good music.

The Irish band U2 is from the UK ?  Now that's deridable (your knowledge of geography, that is).  Or maybe you're not from over there.

I can picture what "good music" means in your opinion. Since you refer to these people as clowns I'm sure you would hold a guitar by it's handle!

Sorry this not progressive rock which was killed by Punk. Try looking at the '70's before 1976 - King Crimson, Genesis before Phil Collins, ELP, Jethro Tull, Yes, Gentle Giant, etc. if you already haven't then claim to be a progressive music snob.
Took an age to get into this band; a friend had been trying to convince me from conception but this is the album that did it for me and so I started from the beginning.
Happy and sad memories within their repertoire of great songs.
Good morning America !

I've never thought of Snow Patrol as prog. Not that I don't like them, I just don't see how they fit with the likes of ELP, Pink Floyd, Rush, etc..
Saw these guys in Denver CO last year with not a lot of expectations.   To my surprise they were wonderful live!!  Good song writing
Wow, all the Snow Patrol hate here.

Opinions are like arseholes.

Snow Patrol I put in the same category as Coldplay. Technically proficient, anthemic, efficient but cold and lacking in content. SP and Coldplay songs I can imagine being played at corporate events, in big glass 'scrapers with plastic plants in the lobby, where Suits mingle in plain clothes trying to be hip. The Spandau Ballet of the noughties.

LOL, what a moment rdo, even more so because I agree with you both for once.{#Roflol}

I made the sad mistake of picking up 3 of SP's albums, boy what a disappointment that was:  This tune and "Lifeboats" are the only 2 of their songs that don't cause me dry heaves.  IMO, their songs all sound the same (music and vocals) and fall into 2 categories:  A) Their producer says, "What's needed here is a soft, breathy number with a meandering keyboard and soft guitar work that will appeal to tender people." Or B) The producer says, "Well after those last 3 tender numbers, we need to mix it up a bit.  Okay, let's hit them with louder synth and crank up the guitar with some added fuzz effect, make it bigger, but not too heavy."

Now, no one needs to buy any more of their music because you've already heard it all.

I hope London Grammar avoids this trap.

I am not a great fan of my Snow Patrol but I feel I must defend my countrymen and say you go too far to call them "clowns".  They are serious musicians and many knowledgeable people say their songs are well crafted.

If they have a big following in the USA then it is not because those people have been conned or hypnotized - its because they like the music - simple as that.

U2 has had a huge following all over the world for about 35 years, and Coldplay has had their time.  But Travis, Elbow, and Snow Patrol are by no means enjoying "huge followings" in the US - I doubt any of them get more than nominal airplay.  Elbow has had five Top Ten albums in the UK, and only once cracked the Top 100 in the States.

Always really liked this song. And then RP commenteers had to go and say something about it sounding like Coldplay. In a perfect world, Bill would ban all references to Coldplay from RP comments for, like, forever. Then I could actually just keep on liking all the nice-but-maybe-a-little-mediocre songs played here, without them being tainted by Coldplay comparisons. Coldplay references are like car wrecks (see it you can't unsee it) in that once you get a whiff of Coldplay in an otherwise decent song you can't ever go back to it just being a solid, likable song.

Among other things, I like the dynamic range on this song. You can't stay loud the whole song, something certain genres (cough, heavy metal) seemed to have never grasped.

That stupid high note just ruins the song.

I like...a Snow Patrol song? Pleasantly surprised :).
Spoiled 7/777 votes rating... sorry but had to save it :)

BTW again time by pf was earlier ;)
I was really digging that... 7 for starters.

Wilco to Arctic Monkeys to Pink Floyd to Snow Patrol to Guster, this set is stopping my productive afternoon and making me hit the website. Damn you, Bill!!

nice to be back with 'Paradise'
Nice tune. SP is enigmatic and engaging. But crank up If There's a Rocket... or The Lightning Strike.
I've always thought of Snow Patrol as the rich man's Cold Play. This song is a good example.
yeah  {#Sunny}
Love it

Exactly.  I had it rated at 4.  Just bumped it up to 6.

Should have known though.  If 1wolfy likes it I usually do too.

Not usually a huge fan of Snow Patrol, but I really like this track. A little out of their wheel house, and I'm a sucker for the pairing of the vocal stress with the instrumental undertones.

Snow Patrol is very unique....{#Yes}
Oh god not the snow patrol!  Make it stop please!... Ears melting!  Oh the pain!
this song is weak.

The only tolerable Snow Patrol song.
Wow, that was surprisingly good!
That is one BIG brainpan-filling sound. Has to be listened to at mark 11 and phones set to earbleed. 8 from the Nottingham jury
Love it!
This is my favorite song off this album. "Brain shut down."

I'd like to see Snow Patrol play on a beach in the sunshine. That would be ironic.

LOVE this song!

this song is the reason i bought this CD. I would pay 20. just to see them do this song only. The rest of the album is not compareable to this song though. have to say songs 2 - 5 are great though..
Great song! Good set!

Ok, saw them last week at a VERY small club here in Atlanta..... they were amazing. Light years ahead of the Coachella mess last year! They played material from the new CD coming out in May.... great stuff!!!
I was pleasantly suprised by this album having picked it up cheap on a recommendation. I've got the SACD/CD hybrid release and the multi-channel SACD mix adds a lot to the production. It's not an earth shattering album, but I definitely think it's better than Coldplay's last release. The next album will probably make or break this band. -Synth80s
I cant believe that was snow patrol! Never liked them before but that was top!
What's really strange is Bill in Paradise has more snow right now than I do in Burlington, Ontario, Canada.

By all means get it. I've had it for over a year and still listen to it quite a bit. Good stuff!

Not only boring, but absolutely devoid of any energy or soul. Tepid "Coldplayish" sop.
Parful stuff parful
highly pressurised pop music.

Not at all! I quite enjoy them as well. Their song "Run" got me hooked and I think this CD is very good. I hope they do more.
This will sound dated in a few years....just like stuff by Live.

Dave Matthews called. He wants his voice back.
