I won't let you go
I won't let you go
Not to Detroit City
Not to Chicago

And I won't let you go
I won't let you go
Not to Mississippi
Not to Tupelo

But if you're going to leave,
I'm asking you, please
Go all the way to Mexico

I won't let you leave
I won't let you leave
Not with all my django
Emmy Lou and Steve

I won't let you leave
I won't let you leave
Not with my revival
Tucked down in its sleeve

But if you're gonna go
Take the ones you gave to me
All the way to Mexico

All the way to the shore of California Bay
And I'll be fine
'Cause I have taken you back for the last time

And I won't set you free
I won't set you free
Not to say it's over
And come right back to me

But if you're gonna go
I'm giving you the key
But only if you'll go to Mexico

All the way to the shore of California Bay
And I'll be fine
'Cause I have taken you back for the last time

So if you're gonna go
I'm giving you the key
But only if you go to Mexico

Nice song, but his voice is thoroughly mutilated by autotune. So what if he didn't hit all notes perfectly? Isn't that what makes a performance human?

Good. It wasn't just me.

I'd have thought "no Autotune" would be the one immutable rule at RP. {#Stop}

Anything - any thing - else goes; I may hit PSD, but it's music for someone.
Yikes, I didn't know I was supporting a top 40 radio station. Blech!!!!! This is just awful.

Bill! BILL! This just escaped out of the box marked 'not to be played again' you put it in in 2009!
I'm going against the grain here .. I think this is a good enough song. Not great or nuttin', but good.
More living proof that beef hormones are affecting our population.
can i make it a 0 now?{#Frustrated}

I gave it a 2 but by the end of the song I was so annoyed I had to change it to a 1.
Carbon Leaf much?
Ok but pretty forgettable stuff...

Btw manbird: It was fun the first time, its overplayed now, OK?
Lame, in a mediocre pop song sort of way.

This song is definitely a little more pop-sounding than most of their stuff, which is either good or bad, depending on your opinion. I must say that I like this one better after hearing it a bunch. Seeing Jay play a solo version of it live helped me appreciate it more, also.

John Mayer without the talent.
EXACTLY what I was thinking! My co-worker has Mayer's CD that plays endlessly in her cubicle - I am glad we are rooms apart!
nice sound, nasally whiny voice. why is that so popular lately?
I don't understand this. Why does he/she have to go to Mexico?

What the hell is with all the stalker songs on RP? Jeeze, not only is this a stalker song, but it sucks too. Badly.
What she said.
John Mayer without the talent.
Very interesting sound. Reminds me another band that I just can't put a name to. Now that's going to bug me the rest of the day.

Montezuma's revenge, amigo. Don't blame it on the band. kindermanltd wrote:

I don't like it either. Too wimpy or something. Between The Dim and The Dark is a good one by them though.

Lighten up Francis!

It's one thing to say you just don't like something, but to make an idiotic comment like "sounds like Cher" when referring to this band shows everyone how very little you know about music.

bland, like baby food or oatmeal. Sounds to me like a song they would play on Gray's Anatomy

Jump is a great band and the mixing on their songs never does justice to the variety and skill they have as musicians. The accordion, upright bass, harmonica, cello, etc. almost never find their way to the front of the mix leaving them sounding more like generic rock than is fair. Someone needs to upload some live JLC where more of their true personality comes out.

whow - I love that song! Thank you for playing those songs and please stay as far as possible away from that f*****g "we make not hits - we just play them" on most stations here in germany...

Well now, we've got a bit of passion here... at least with the feedback! I find myself agreeing with Mr. Prins more than not when it comes to the song feedback. This isn't one of those times, but it's not a good enough song to drill him like that, now is it? Can't we all just get along?!
I have NOTHING against Richard... I think he makes some very poignant and impressive comments, but this was WAY off base. Richard Marx and Cher are in the same category, but Jump isn't anywhere near that crap. Before condemning a band to that type of hell, you should try to appreciate them on every level.... live especially. These guys are truly amazing and should not be written off as some crappy trite flash-in-the-pan phenomenon.

Touché... That could easily have been made by some kind of Music Production Machine (TM).

Exactly the same feeling over here - thanks for the words to describe it.
so much with the pretty.
That was pretty damned good. Last time I was impressed immediately by a sound it was Porcupine Tree... very cool..

This song only. After reading your comments, why do you think this song has been chosen over others on the CD?
Well, I'm not sure what you mean by 'chosen', but Bill is currently playing 5 songs from this album in his Radio Paradise rotation. 'Mexico' was chosen as the 2nd single off the album to go to regular radio because it's a fan fave and most people who hear it like it the very first time. They have a hugely broad range of songs in their repertoire - this album is just a narrow slice. If you want to hear all of the songs from this album, go to (click here) and click on the music link and then the music player link. You can listen to all the songs in streaming audio. If you want to hear a much broader selection of songs, go to Amazon.com (you can click the album link above) and look for Jump Little Children and pick any 10 songs and I dare you to think they are not inventive. Or you could download live shows from the Live Music Archve - there are 90 shows on there. Try it...you'll like it... and you'll be surprised...I guarantee it! (click here)

This band sounds alot like an Australian band, The Whitlams - well at least the lead singer Tim Freedman. The Whitlams are a bit more inventive as musicians tho'. If I could work out how to upload I'd send a couple of tracks to the RP gurus. I'm working on it....
Very bland, middle of the road. Not my cup of tea.
i'm so in love. damn it.

What a pleasure to make the first comment on this wonderful album. If you choose one disc to buy this year, make it this one. It's simply brilliant. You can't go wrong with their last effort 'Vertigo' either (when they were still called Jump, Little Children)... PS: I had the good fortune to hear them do the Star Spangled Banner a capella last weekend at the ball game, and it was so cool.

The entire album is quite excellent.
