I've been caught in a trap I set for myself
I don't want to be here when you could be somewhere else
So why'd I sit on my hands like a book on a shelf
Where nothing but dust is falling?
Everyone 'round here lives in silence
If I had something to say I'd say what I mean
How'd you lose all your words? I swear it's obscene, I curse
How'd you look at yourself as the mirror turns green?
Yeah, only the fools ignore us
Everyone 'round here lives in silence
I could wait all my life for someone to think
I can't open your eyes but I can make you blink at me
So please don't try to be nice, don't need your advice
Please leave me to die of boredom
Everyone 'round here lives in silence
Silence
They wait for the end
Silence
They bow and they bend
Silence
Their homes they defend
Silence
I don't want to be here when you could be somewhere else
So why'd I sit on my hands like a book on a shelf
Where nothing but dust is falling?
Everyone 'round here lives in silence
If I had something to say I'd say what I mean
How'd you lose all your words? I swear it's obscene, I curse
How'd you look at yourself as the mirror turns green?
Yeah, only the fools ignore us

So please don't try to be nice, don't need your advice
Please leave me to die of boredom
Everyone 'round here lives in silence
Silence
They wait for the end
Silence
They bow and they bend
Silence
Their homes they defend
Silence

This song doesn't seem to be getting a lot of love, but I like it.
I LIKE THIS
That banana all the way on the right is so cute. rock on, little banana!.. I dont even mind how awful this song is.

I would rather be listening to siiiiii-lence

After such an excellent first two albums they really have lapsed into profound mediocrity. This is so weak - no real tunes, no charm, naff all to say... bleuch.
I agree this is bleuch, but I'd say their winning streak ended after In Our Gun. (Which I think is better than Liquid Skin.)
I dunno man - the last two tracks really suck (this one and Arctic Asshole MOnkeys) - you having a bad night - this really sucks

This song just screams out, "Use me in an iPod commercial!!!!!"
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I sooooooooooooooooooooooo NEED an iPod.
No really I do. No really. REALLY. I really do need one. Honest.
(As for the song - take it or leave it really. gets a 5 from me. 'snot the Stone Roses is it...)
Some of the worst lyrics I've heard in a long time.

The exact opposite of Neil Young on RP.
Gomez are your friends.

Sounds like what the Monkees would do if they were playing now instead of in the 60s.
Sounds like what the Monkees would play if they could have played their own music they way they wanted.
I find this song (and album) a little dull for Gomez.
If it weren't Gomez, it'd have a better rating.
Surprised to see my own 6, I raise the bet to 8. . . .

Must be some good shit.
Love how diverse these guys can be. You'd never recognize this as Gomez if all you knew was In Our Gun. Not, of course, that anyone is...
The more Gomez I hear, the more l want to listen to them. I made my GF a compilation CD, she is hooked too.
These guys are like musical chameleons. We were certain they were an American band, but they are full-blown Limeys!
Have not heard a tune yet I disliked.
same ol shit, different day
I've said it before, you gotta see them live they are fantastic. The whole ablum is great. 3 singers and song writers.
there isn't a thing this band does that is good sounding to my ears. god they're even out of tune!!!!!!

Damn! I hear the connection!

Must have been the Enya (groan).
Thank you for breaking the spell.
I just dropped from a 2 to a 1.
Must have been the Enya (smile).
Not happy with anticlimaxes like this.
This song just screams out, "Use me in an iPod commercial!!!!!"
or maybe a Volkswagon commercial.
Take your pick. The sound of youth can be predictable sometimes.
I still like this song, though, and agree with the Monkees comments.

Good call. Reminds me of Sweet's "Get Older," maybe a little.

There are some sounds in this song that make my teeth hurt.
this song is played too much.

I don't know these guys well but it seems like every one of their songs sounds like a different band. This is Beckish.

I like to describe them to friends as Oasis meets the Allman Brothers with a dash of something altogeather different.
Yeah, the Internet database for RealPlayer describes their sound like this: "American roots and dance club grooves meet in the music of Gomez, then promptly step outside for a smoke."
I agree that it's nice to hear them unchain their drummer once in awhile. He's underrated.
THIS SONG IS A GREAT PICK-ME-UP!!
I saw them live by chance in Vegas in September at the House of Blues...one of the best live shows I've seen in a long time...then saw them in NYC at Irving Plaza...
They really are a very accomplished band...see them live for their full impact. Their recorded stuff is all over the map in a good and a bad way...can be very challenging for the listener because they are into so many sounds, styles and influences. I like to describe them to friends as Oasis meets the Allman Brothers with a dash of something altogeather different.
I've listened to their older releases more, never heard this new stuff. Sounds really good! More "awake" than their earlier work. I love the drive and the wicked drums!
MORE CMAS TUNES PLEASE!

Wow Radioparadise plays a lot of Gomez. Not that I'm complaining. I like them. Up until this point, the only Gomez I knew was the guy who played the flute outside of Wendy's.

I like this track but it sounds more like the Soft Boys than Gomez.

I really like Gomez but this CD really does not do it for me.

Panda: eats shoots and leaves
or
Panda: eats, shoots, and leaves
Gomez, the band is here.
or
Gomez, the band, is here.
Not a sign that directed Gomez, the new band musician, to where he would find his mates. But a sign that instead in effect directed/invited the public to a small club cellar, where a small sit down audience became a standing room only show.
