Exactly, and the piano in this song is playing a completely different chord progression than that of "Let It Be".
This song reminds me times when i was dancing with my baby on my arms.
Great moment of my life, rate 10
I would pay money to watch James Taylor kick Chris Martin's ass and show him how melancholy/retrospective white boy should be done.

Segue into "Amsterdam" by Guster?

Pretty please?

I'm gonna write you a letter
I'm gonna write you a book
I wanna see your reaction
I wanna see how it looks
From way up on your cloud
Where you've been hiding out
Are you getting somewhere?
Or did you get lost in Amsterdam?

Exactly. Please quit your whining Coldplay! Ghack!
mama make it stop, it hurts..
Yes Coldplay now sucks ass, I think everyone knows that so I am not going to pile on. However, this song shows what they did have the potential to be, just fantastic! 9!{#Clap}
A solid 3!

warm-play? What ? are these khats from CA?

SAD negative lyrics. Oh well. I guessif ya spend time in Smell A. . . .

no rating from me because they are negative hole dwellers. They say so.
Gabby Johnson, is that you?

I bought this CD after hearing "Clocks" on KPRI (San Diego).  I may have to dig it out and give it a re-listen.

I love this song, but that's a great comment.

I wish they still wrote songs like this.  Great edgy lyrics, patient melody build up, atmospheric sound.  I like some of their new stuff, but this album is still their opus IMHO.

get over it being coldplay and listen to the lyrcis......of course, i guess you've had to feel this way to appreciate an eloquent expression of gratitude when someone helps you get out of it....

But that IS a comment.  A "no comment" would be not commenting.  Silly person.
Great tune, by the way.  Might be the best on this album, despite the obscurity.  Say what you will about the boys, they crank out catchy tunes.

Hey, I agree. I love that song!
Night Ranger? Their guitarist used to live across the street from me in Alameda, CA. Not much of a band though...

Coldplay = Mediocre No further comment. Pretty music for girls.
Hey, who are you calling a girl? This is a great song in it's own right, but it's especially shiver-inducing when spun after the Audioslave-The Band-Mooncake set. And saying Coldplay is for girls and then admitting you're into Night Ranger? I'd be careful, dude. (I'm with you on the Night Ranger thing, though. "Goodbye" is the epitome of awesome power ballads!)
the only emperor is the emperor of ice cream
In the beginning I thought it was going to be a King Missile "song"....and then thought nah, not on RP
Steeping up, and stepping off.
When I find myself in times of trouble mother Mary comes to me...
Coldplay = Mediocre No further comment. Pretty music for girls. Nothing wrong with that, but just reminds me of an intelligent "Boy Band" covering sad ballads by Night Ranger (whoa.... showing my age) and Chicago. Stuff we'll forget about later.
Clearly the best tune on the album (in my eyes), and also the one that tends to get the least airplay. The organ buildup after the second chorus makes the tune. Gets me every time. One of my very, very, very few Godlike ratings. Cheers.
I\'m a member of the Mojo4music board, and Coldplay continually get slaughtered there, I can\'t think why. I couldn\'t say I like what I\'ve heard enough to buy an album, but, like this song, it\'s ok.
...in my mind, the coldplay's lead vocalist will always be a bald yeti...

damien, I would much prefer that King Missle tune to this one. "Jesus could score more goals than Wayne Gretzky."
King Missle- that takes me back!
Ah yes, one of the few songs from AROBTTH that I really like. For some reason Coldplay has bored me since Parachutes. This is a great song, though.
Now let's hear Guster's Amsterdam, too =) I find it weird they both have albums called Parachute(s), and a song called Amsterdam, but I wouldn't compare their sound.

Coming from someone named Damien...well...I don't know if you're being hopeful or sarcastic. :-k

nice wistful song

Glad to be hearing this song
I was busy working when the opening piano chords started ---- for such a quiet, introspective song, it just stops you dead.
