I was running Mary.
And the days were growing long.
And I was minding mine,
I was doing nothing wrong.
And the news you sent me.
and the bar's upon the door.
And this one caught me blind--
Couldn't stop me anymore.
Tell me how much do I forgive
'Cause you laid one in on me, but I'm all right.
Tell me how much--this goes on and on.
I was running barely
And it's hard to face me more.
And I was minding mine,
And doing nothing more.
And the days were growing long.
And I was minding mine,
I was doing nothing wrong.
And the news you sent me.
and the bar's upon the door.
And this one caught me blind--
Couldn't stop me anymore.
Tell me how much do I forgive
'Cause you laid one in on me, but I'm all right.
Tell me how much--this goes on and on.
I was running barely
And it's hard to face me more.
And I was minding mine,
And doing nothing more.

I think it's "how much do I fork you".
No... it's:
"How much do I forgive..."
Ring was/is a great album- I loved the Connells.... New Boy is anther great song- but Slackjawed is a winner....
This whole album is great.... and my college days were '74-78 (so the song '74-75 is extremely poignant for me!)
The Connells have great melodies, but they somehow make them blander than they should be.
Good song, but there are better Connells tunes. Definitely a college flashback.
somewhat bland, but pleasant nonetheless

Had to look up the lyrics, cause I thought he was singing 'tell me, how much did I fuck you?'. It didn't seem to be the sort of song for such a line, though you never know.

A really good band that never really got their due.

Wow, I never thought I'd here these guys outside of live shows and my own collection. I'll be seeing them this Sat (9/18/04) at the Visualite in Charlotte, NC. Might I suggest playing some songs from Boylan Heights, Fun & Games, and One Simple Word. Their site: (click here)
i uploaded a bunch of their stuff off all their albums (i did, ncmtnbiker and darlington)... so far only three made it to the main playlist. :verymad: at least some made it.

God this is annoying.
I was listening to an old compilation tape I made back in the day last week and thought to myself that I wished I had a CD version of "Fun and Games" in order to upload the title track. Nice hearing them on RP. Great overlooked and (mostly forgotten) band.
ahhh... this cd brings me back to my college days...
Hurrah! The Connells make me smile (c:
Yea!
