Read me the letter, baby, do not leave out the words
Stories and cigarettes ruin lives of lesser girls
And I wanna know
'Cause I want you to know

And it's a strange condition
A day in prison
It's got me out of my head, and I don't know what I came for

Send me the money, baby, do not leave out the wage
You know you're the best thing ever to come out of this place
And I want you to know
'Cause I wanna know

And it's a strange condition
A day in prison
It's got me out of my head, and I don't know what I came for
Oh, I want you to know

It's a strange condition
A day in prison
It's got me out of my head, and I don't know what I came for
Oh, I want you to know
I want you to know

So leave out the others, baby, say I'm the only one
Cut out the uniforms and settle with the sun
Hey, I want you to know
'Cause I wanna know

And it's a strange condition
And life in prison
It's got me outta my head, and I don't know what I came for
Oh, I want you to know
I want you to know
I want you to know
Yeah, I want you to know
I want you to know
Yeah, I want you to know
I want you to know
'Cause I gotta know
Yeah, I gotta know
Yeah, I gotta know
Yeah, I gotta know
Oh oh

Absolutely love this song. You know how every couple has an "official" song for their relationship, well this is our unofficial song because she got to pick the "official" one and I just don't think R.E.O. Speedwagon does our relationship justice.

This strikes me as a brave comment to post, funny, but brave.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh — pleasant flash-back just now of seeing Pete in concert a few months ago.  Great show!  Love him a lot!  {#Heartkiss}
Oh, I LOVES me some Pete Yorn on a sunny Sunday morn... {#Sunny}{#Dancingbanana_2}

I really enjoyed this album when it first came out.
Saw him live as well... good show.
It's been a while... I think I should give that disc another spin.

Inventive and tasty - Good stuff!
What a great record.

 This low-key version of the song is NOT the version of Strange Condition which is on the album "Musicforthemorningafter".  Any "Yorn-Heads" out there who can tell me where this version is taken from?

>>>lifted from Wikipedia

"Strange Condition" is a song by American musician Pete Yorn. Produced and recorded by R. Walt Vincent and Brad Wood, it appears on his first studio album Musicforthemorningafter. It also appears on Yorn's 2000 Sunset EP as well as on the soundtrack to the films Me, Myself & Irene, 40 Days and 40 Nights, and The Sweetest Thing. Released as a single in 2002, the song peaked at #36 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks. The single version features additional collaborative instrumentation by R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck.<<<

I'm pretty sure this version played again tonight is from the Sunset LP or the single version, & not the debut LP.  It just doesn't sound like the album version, and I listened "extra closely"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't like this the first couple times I heard it but its grown on me so I upgraded it. {#Music}

This is an excellent song and all too often Pete Yorn doesn't get the respect he deserves.

One of the first songs I heard on RP when I discovered the station by accident. Made me think: "Hey, this internet radio thing has a lot of promise . . . "
 This low-key version of the song is NOT the version of Strange Condition which is on the album "Musicforthemorningafter".  Any "Yorn-Heads" out there who can tell me where this version is taken from?

I remember buying this CD and Kathleen Edwards' Failer at the same time.  For the next week or so, my "to do" list suffered greatly {#Roflol}

It will. It's grown on me and immediately puts me in my happy place.

I'd like to hear more from this guy. This song is very nice.

anytime i hear something on RP by this guy, from this cd...i like it. i think i need to make a purchase.
I bought the album on the strength of hearing Strange Condition on Radio Paradise and I have to say that it was one of this years better purchases. It's a really strong album in my opinion.
Just saw Pete last night opening for Crowded House. He was very good--his band was excellent.
I don't like saying this, but this song is really lame-whiny and overlong.
Super tune. Just saw Pete Yorn live at the House Of Blues in New Orleans and he kicked ass.
Nice song. And he's kinda hot. I might be a little late on the "hottie" bandwagon, I hear.
Damn I love this tune. The whole album actually. I need to get this out again.

Had a friend who thought that lyric was "Hamish, the tambourine man..."
Just gotta love that voice.
"Stories and cigarettes ruin lives of lesser girls". Well said. I hate smoking.
Excellent album all the way, and this song cooks.
anyone heard anything from his new album? Let me know if it is any good
Did you know?... This song was on the soundtrack to the (very funny) film "Me, myself, and Irene".
Saw him on his live tour recently...great performer, and this song was tops in the set he played for me!
7.5!
I gave this a 9, but it's more representative of the album as a whole.
This gets me every time. Great song, lyrics and album
I concur whole heartedly...great song, great album.

Reminds me of Springsteen. Actually, come to think of it, he played Racing in the Streets when I saw him. Great tune
