Oh it's healing bang bang bang
I can hear your canons call
You've been aiming at my land
Your hungry hammer's falling
And if you want me, I'm your country

I'm an angel bored like hell
And you're a devil meaning well
You steal my lines and you strike me down
Come raise your flag upon me
And if you want me, I'm your country
If you win me I'm forever, oh yeah

Cause you're the storm that I've been needing
And all this peace has been deceiving
I like the sweet life and the silence
But it's the storm that I believe in

Come and conquer and drop your bombs
Cross my borders and kill the calm
Bear your fangs and burn my wings
I hear bullets singing
And if you want me, I'm your country
If you win me I'm forever, oh yeah

Cause you're the storm that I've been needing
And all this peace has been deceiving
I need some wind to get me sailing
So it's the storm that I believe in

You fill my heart you keep me breathing
Cause you're the storm that I believe in
And if you want me I'm your country

I dub thee "Quite Likeable".
Sharply insightful lyrics...  and so prophetic given the current events. But wait, it was ever thus wasn't it?

Welp, I just opened up the app to type something about how RP introduced me to this song and therefore the rest of the Cardigans library. Turns out I commented in-real-time when it happened 17 years ago . Love you forever Radio Paradise.
Cardigans - always brilliantโ€ฆ Haters just push the botton and move on. Also you have no fucking taste.
I would have to say with many other singers, this would just be a shallow, low-effort tune, but Nina Persson really knocks this out of the park.

That's the point - the lyrics are supposed to be subversive (like much of the Cardigan's library).  If you just hear the song and don't listen to the lyrics it sounds kind of happy-go-lucky.
The song is about a nation falling to war and supporting death and destruction just so that it's not staying still.

Well, what papaman said still applies, although the wording is wrong in the first place. It should more appropriately read: "This is why you keep making the same mistake over and over again" ... "Attracting the wrong kind of guy" implies you have no choice in the matter but to get involved the "the wrong kind of guy"
We need more anvil!
Saccharine!  The chorus and emo is stomach turning.
Please, never again!  Bad torch song.  Really barfy.
I love a good Cardigan, I'm so glad they're back in men's fashion

Thank you for that insightful comment - also Nina Persson is a post punk Debbie Harry only more beautiful and talented.
Example of a song that doesn't need it's video to be good. In fact, IMO the video is an unfortunate filler for a really decent song. This tune always hits a soft spot for me. Love those Cardigans. Especially...Nina.
Music from Sweden!

nice song but this autotune makes me sick

Hey Bill!  Why not play a track from "Super Extra Gravity?"
There are some great cardigans songs   this is none of them.

First time hearing this...I like.......reminds me of being young....must be her voice.

Disagree, it's one of their best.

An insightful comment which expresses much the way I feel. Thank feck for musical diversity. My greatest fear is that my employers will notice the incoming RP bandwidth and order me to stop listening as then my wage-slavery in this IT McJob would just be unbearable.

nicely put. i feel similar, often being inspired by simple things that another person may never even "see" or "hear" the way i do...

Beautiful chorus.
I really like this song and the whole CD and their Gran Turismo cd but she really sounds like a 12 y/o kid in this song....

Indeed.  Maybe bubblegum with ground glass and cyanide.   The Cardigans are one of the truly under-rated bands.  Just about everything they've done is brilliant.

God they nailed this
Kind of haunting...she has a very sexy voice too.

And even more diversity this morning. Nice move in selections from the sleepy early AM on the left coast here, to a more determined flow of the sonic plasma. Thanks.

If you have young daughters, then you'll have an idea, whether you like it or not. I actually think Kelly's got a gift for singing; she just got caught in the machine. As she tries to break free from Clive Davis, maybe she can meet some new people or a decent band or songwriters and find something more interesting to do.
In all modesty,,I suggested the name to the band,"and then we have a blond bimbo that sings pretty well"!
From Finland across the border into Sweden Just shows ya music has no borders! Good back to back Bill!
They certainly Stormed into my life, best band outa Sweden since, I don't know when? Also love her solo work!

Bill's pretty picky about the quality of uploads, isn't he? it seems to me that after going through that whole process of upsampling, downsampling, and transcoding twice it might not sound quite as good. Dunno though, I've never done it.

We need some stuff off their latest album, super extra gravity. i bought the album off itunes, so i can't upload it. Anyone out there got the gumption to upload it? Bill?
If you burn it to a disc as audio, then import that disc back into itunes as an MP3, you're good to go. Oh, you also have to change some settings first. In iTunes, go to Edit->preferences-> and click on the advanced tab. Under the import tab, below the line, you'll see a pull down tab for "import using." Select MP3 encoder, and you're set. Darn .aac. I'll definitely be limiting my iTunes purchases in the future because of this.

I think a station that plays The Cardigans, Nickel Creek, Nina Simone, Johnny Cash, Beck, and the Foo Fighters in the span of a few hours qualifies as eclectic!
I've heard of them before but never heard them. I like her voice. Might be a worth a deeper listen.
Just want to say: Great song!
You're The Storm Baby!
Catchy pop song. The chorus hooks you good.
nina, you rule.

Familiarity has bred comfort. After hearing this many times on RP, I've grown rather fond of it. Nothing special, but still enjoyable. Thanks, Bill.

From what I've read here, this album is surely underrated. Can I call it 'Swedish Americana'? Yes I can, from a to z terrific! Along with GBV's 'Earth quake glue', Frank Black & The Catholics' 'Show me your tears' and Twinemen's 'Live in Chicago' albums, it definitely belongs to my 2003 top ten list (you were a little late in the US it seems) And Nina Persson has such a beautiful, now even mature voice ...

I bought this CD and really hated it... I agree with what the people before me said- there is absolutely nothing original about it.

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THESE GUYS!?!? this is so very unfortunate : (
They got bored of their sound and wanted to try something different. I can't blame them for that. But initially, I, too, couldn't handle the drastic change. It sounded so damn placid and adult-contemporary. Then I stayed away for a few months till I watched a video of them performing on KCRW. Their performance made me give that last album another sample. I ended up buying the album, and for the last three weeks it's been playing heavily in my car during my commutes. Like this song's chorus, parts of the album are a little overdone, but in spite of it -- maybe even because of it -- I'm kind of drawn to it all.

besides, what the hell does hair color have to do with the way they sound?
Brown is the "serious" hair color, you know. Used when you want to emphasize your transition from "light" pop nonsense towards "serious" singer-songwriter rock music. Very much like Nina Persson of the Cardigans, aye (for further proof, look at Peter Svenssons Jesus hairdo). Or Madonna during her pseudo-goth period a la "Frozen". :)
