This bed is on fire with passionate love
The neighbours complain about the noises above
But she only cums when she's on top
My therapist said not to see you no more
She said you're like a disease without any cure
She said I'm so obsessed that I'm becoming a bore, oh no
Ah, you think you're so pretty
Caught your hand inside the till
Slammed your fingers in the drawer
Fought with kitchen knives and skewers
Dressed me up in women's clothes
Messed around with gender roles
Line my eyes and call me pretty
Moved out of the house, so you moved next door
I locked you out, you cut a hole in the wall
I found you sleeping next to me, I thought I was alone
You're driving me crazy, when are you coming home?
Laid, laid
The neighbours complain about the noises above
But she only cums when she's on top
My therapist said not to see you no more
She said you're like a disease without any cure
She said I'm so obsessed that I'm becoming a bore, oh no

Laid, laid

Still waiting for RP to play Born of Frustration, a great James song IMHO.
"You're driving me crazy, when are you coming home?"
Everybody needs at least one of these relationships during their lifetime.

Reminding me too much of my (probably ex) wife.
Momentarily steering with my knees to pound the sun visor during those drum rolls. This was a college road trip in the early 90’s.

Yeah I'm in agreement about the yodeling and the uninspired machine gun drumming.
Also sounds like they're the neighbor everyone hates. There's not much here that's redeeming.
This song never fails to perk you right up.
i have to jump up and dance whenever this comes on!!! love love love it!
30 years? Huh? How did I miss this band?

reminds me of this dive bar on the southside of pittsburgh called Bar 11 that my friends and i frequently hung out in late night back in the late 90's. whenever this played, everyone went nuts! the place was always packed and absolutely everyone in the entire place started dancing and singing it. it was very celebratory each time. so much fun. i love it!
After all these years I still love this song.

Great song, but this track is an outlier on the album... the album's even better.
Jimmy
wonderful quirky brilliant song.
Laaaaaaaaaeeeeeeeeeed!!!!
After all these years I still love this song.
Great sound and fab lyrics from James✌️
I like James the music. Even this song, which is fun although not as well crafted as others. I discovered them here on RP. However, the album cover art designer of this and other James collections might need to up the quality of work product.
I liked him better with his gang.
Goddamn cowboy yodeling ruins this.

I thought this was Michael Penn...sounds very similar in style and voice and around the same era
Story of my life ..........
I so completely agree with this. Perfect pop song

I was always partial to WAH WAH, the one they recorded at night during the Laid sessions. Worth a listen for any James and/or Eno fan!
One of the best bands of the 90's. Very Very underestimated. And Laid is maybe their best album.

This is a small act cover staple in the local circuit, and they do it well !
Love this song. Makes it hard to concentrate on work, damn.
Great energy!
Musical perfection. Love, love, love it.
Bill,
Good gosh this is awful. Let's clean it up!

really enjoy this awsome song
My son just passed the computor and asked if I was listening to a Bulgarian pig sticking group 'cos it didn't sound half bad and he thought he had heard them all.
Sarcasm may have been involved.

A wonderfully witty ditty, James the replacement for Carter USM ?
James is a very naughty band.
This song always takes my back to my younger days, and remember when Mtv played music videos.
Make mine a double.

Who knows what she's sitting on in the back of that rolling love wagon:
I love you for your pink Cadillac
Crushed velvet seats
Riding in the back
Oozing down the street
Waving to the girls
Feeling out of sight
Spending all my money
On a Saturday night
Honey I just wonder what you do there in back
Of your pink Cadillac
Pink Cadillac

Circumstance provoked a re-watch of the video fairly recently. I'd completely forgotten what a brilliant bit of pop art that was!

This band is seriously under-rated in America. Huge in England. I wish I could have experienced their music before they broke up.

I hate emoticons. But this speaks to me when I hear this song. I'll dance on top of anything when this song plays.
love this band! this is a great cd and seven is even better.
Saw James in concert last night and they VERY ADAMANTLY announced their refusal to play this song............. I thought they might be joking, but no — not even during the encore! Otherwise it was a fun time — intimate venue and a good value at $25.
This whole album is amazing. Soooooo good.
YES YES YES. James is one of the most underrated groups around. They have a lot of superb music and are also a blast in concert.
A perfect little pop gem!
I can relate...
This song played the night I met my wife.

Whoever's being described/lambasted/celebrated in this song, it's fair to say that she counted as 'high maintenance'...
I turned this one up - I play it loads luvitloads eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
This song is so much fun it should be illegal! I just have to blast it loud, and since I work the service desk alone there is no one to complain about it. Even if there was, it'd be worth hearing it as long they didn't complain during this song!
This song always makes me think of the late 90s, when I was young and immortal.
First 'Instant Karma' and now 'Twist and Shout'... Nothing original today, Bill?

Go ahead, be redundant ... it is good! Hope you're dancing again this morning! Ahh The early 1990s! What a great time for nice gems like Laid!
Thanks for reminding me of this sone Bill.. had almost forgot it! bought it on iTunes right away.. then bough Lou Reed Walk on the Wild Side which is a perfect follow up to it.... sheesh Bill.. where have you been all my life?
Love the Eno production over the whole album...
Well, shake it up baby now (Shake it up baby), Twist and shout!
I was gonna like this song for its boldness, but the sexual references make me a little uneasy. Um, and guilty, because they make me laugh. As do the comments. Oh, okay - I'll give it 7. With the right to change my mind at any time.
this is one of the best albums/cds ever made.... not to mention one of the best bands ever!
Dang I want to turn this up loud but I don't think the boss will like it.
yeah! this song needs to get played more often!

YIKES!!!!! I have to say, I admit to admiring this song, while not liking it. I suspect it's in the category of being "so bad it's good"!
Love this song about a one night stand gone wrong. He can't get rid of her!
