How can the wicked smile while the world is burning
How can they turn their eyes and walk away
How can the blue bloods hide, while brothers killing brothers
Why do they divide I and I for diamonds and gold
The dreams of children they float to the sky
And wires and watchtowers can't bring their demise
Tell me why oh why are we so blind
The treasures of love lay buried inside
Tell me why oh why do we deny
The chains of Babylon are all in our mind
The murderers clouds can't keep the sun from shining
The wind of Jah will scatter them away
The murderers clouds can't keep the sun from shining
Jah will scatter he who has no shame
The dreams of children they float to the sky
And wires and watchtowers can't bring their demise
Tell me why oh why are we so blind
The treasures of love lay buried inside
Tell me why oh why do we deny
The chains of Babylon are all in our mind

o.k. - that's funny...ummmm, did you expect to hear some right wing reggae?...old white dudes just chillin' on a spliff, singin' songs of capitalism!
That's a great image and I think it would sound a little like this (sung to a good reggae beat):
Oh, oh, oh...
Oh, the invisible hand of capitalism
guides us without intervention
We just let the market do it's thing
Unless we have money in the ring
then we send in military
or buy the supreme court
can't allow losses
for the top 1 percent
Let them eat cake says I
or tune into FM talk radio
telling people how to think
repetition does it's trick
and the invisible hand of capitalism
guides us without intervention
Oh, oh, oh...

Great Tune!! It is a shame about the out of phase recording! It gives me vertigo & makes me sea sick! I just dropped my rating to 6, to get it off My Favorites list!

It's especially true of reggae. There is the pop happy-tune reggae like Jimmy Cliff's Girls and Cars, but there's an awful lot of political reggae like Peter Tosh's Down 'Presser Man. The political reggae is *always* very left-wing.

10 years since Bill stirred up controversy. Too long, says me.
Sista Pat = Singing Flat
I like this and this band.
PSD, is the button for me!
OK I submit, I have moved to see who this is on a few occasions now.
Looks like the Thieves will have my money

I'm TORTURED by this musical vomit!!!
And we, you. How about we have less of both? (I'm not saying you don't have a right not to like the song, but do you need to post every time it plays? We get it!)
This one's definitely not up to TC's usual standards. Just ok at best.

This is too much, come on. Just Junk.
Bloody hell - RP is getting to be like local radio with all this repetitive music. The drums are so phased out that they sound like my head is going to explode.
Totally annoying song AGAIN!!

i love thievery corporation... definitely not too much of it here.
this song doesn't do too much for me though.
I really love TC's The Mirror Conspiracy, and based on that I picked up The Richest Man In Babylon. Sadly, most of the stuff on that disc, and everything I've heard off of this newest one is too reggae for me.
Oh well. If anyone can point me to stuff, by TC or otherwise, that's more like Mirror Conspiracy, I'd be greatful.

agreed! every now and then, RP gets into these long, synthetic Weather Channel sets.
I've enjoyed quite a bit of the Thievery Corporation stuff, but MAN, a Reggae set is bad enough without this woman's awful intonation.

After reading this comment, the flatness became painfully obvious. I'd have likely noticed it sooner or later, but the comment made my brain focus on the singer's pitch control right away, and alas, there was none.
That's the nature of the beast in this genre.

I luv the echo-dub. Brilliant.

I think this is the best disc they've done. Now if they could mellow out with the left-wing agitprop.... get a load of Perry Farrell on track 3 of this disc. Of course, given the Bush Administration, it's hard to blame them....
Isn't this that song that Sublime did?
Fourth - cleanup! Loving the TC.
Third??
This grooves. What a great set so far, Ben Harper, Jimmy Cliff, this and before that Jimmy. Man I am working so much better now...
Maybe even second.
I bet I could write a really long sentence and STILL be firs.....D'oh!
Reggae never goes down well with the tough RP crowd, but it's always a treat for me. Pass the spliff and the Red Stripe, mon :*)
