We are like pendulums
Our arms swinging at our sides
And I am a good little clock
Walking along power lines

I'm thinking like a swinging door
I'm hinging on these changing thoughts
Between the pull up to the shore
And the push off

In the lines of footprints in the snow
All along the edges of the road
And I haven't even walked my block
Since I moved out here years ago

The secret lives of twist ties
The hidden story in one line

In the lines of footprints in the snow
All along the edges of the road
And I haven't even walked my block
Since I moved out here years ago

And we are like pendulums
Our arms swinging at our sides
And I am a good little clock
I'm ticking off the time, the time

The distant lights are twinkling
It means there is a wind
That blows the trees against themselves
And hard into this house I'm sleeping in
I'm sleeping in

In my dreams, I'm tired and fed up and I walk into my local.
Sarah Harmer is playing a set in the corner, the barman looks at me, and pops a pint on the bar without saying a word.
I sit down, stare into a fine looking APA, breath deeply and smile.
Just another American Volkslied.
sweet voice - good lyrics
Monday morning and sleeping in?
Ms Harmer is a sweet angel of lyricism. Thank you R & B for playing this fine artist.
For all the haters... listen to some of her work with Weeping Tile and you'll be able to understand the artist more.

This stuff bothers me too, though I believe "pendula" would be correct.

"We are as pendula..."

She's such a great songwriter.  But self-effacing? My gosh, there is literally nothing on her website. So you'll have to dig around.
Have a listen to "Basement Apartment" - for everyone who's ever had to live in one.
Her song "Lodestar" is so pure, so poetic, like a sacred moment if you're Canadian (hint: a canoe is involved... or maybe a rowboat).

I really like Sarah's voice and lyrics. She has a sweet and wistful style. This song definitely deserves more play.
Great song, great album !!!

Canadian content.

Yep.... very blase. I do like her other song (Sailor) heard here on RP, however.

I like it too but the video is extraordinarily silly.
Her voice... <3<3<3
I bought this album 5 years ago after hearing the last song, Go to Sleep, on another station, Folk Alley. Go to Sleep will mesmerize you, though it didn't put me to sleep. Almost, is her other song that has special meaning in my life about a girl that came into my life, left it, and "almost called your number" is the line.

Oh, look! Something from Cold Snap!  One song, but it's a start... If you have more/better stuff, upload it, or get a friend to do it, if you're techo-challenged like me... I've never heard them, but I'm open....

Another really nice one from Sarah.

I agree. I also really like "Greeting Card Aisle".
Beautiful & dreamy... Kinda reminds me of The Sundays, with a slightly deeper vocal...

A catchy opener to a solid album.

I'd up the "solid" to "terrific," owing IMHO to her arrangements and production values.
"Almost" is a great cut from this album.

we need to get some Weeping Tile in the playlist
She sounds a little like Jill Barber {#Hearteyes}
the more I hear, the more I want to listen . . .
Reminds the coyote a little of The Sundays

Don't know the album, but this definitely is catchy.

nice images - a bit sad, but hopeful
I've never heard a Sarah Harmer song I haven't liked.
Splendid. She has a very powerful voice and the harmonic structure is solid as hell.

Thank you, RP, for introducing me to Sarah Harmer! I really like this and the "Lodestar" track on the playlist.
Kind of reminds me of Sarah Harmer
Hope I didn't wake anybody with my snoring.

Kind of Frou Frou with Indigo Girls qualities mixed in. Sleepy, but nice.
Excellent! Her work with Weeping Tile is good to listen to as well.

Oh rats. I already bought "Almost" from iTunes after hearing it here. Hadn't heard this one before. Now I'm starting to think I'm either gonna have to buy every song separately, or just go for the whole album. Damn, she's good...
Know what you mean. Great stuff.

Damn straight. I normally find most of this type of music pedestrian pap, but her voice pulls it straight out of the trash-heap.

I will make the comment that she is great (all three songs I've heard - thanks to RP). Must check out more......
I'm here, I'm here! Sorry to be late, but there was a semi-truck on the shoulder, and a cop asking him what he's doing, and everyone had to slow down and look, and you know how it is. Sarah is most excellent. She's a lovely way to start the day. This is one of my favorites, as well.
Still nothin'?? C'mon people!
NO comments!!!?? I luzz Ms. Harmer! 8.
