kind of zingy
Sounds like the music from Burning Monkey Solitaire
Interesting segue... albums with black, white and red art (ok... not so much black in this one, but certainly Eliades and Yeska).

Nice one Bill {#Clap}
Uno mojito, por favor.
More from these guys, ¡tambien!
The opening piano vamp is virtually identical to Joe Jackson's "Cha Cha Loco" from Body and Soul. Or is that a form of standard vamp that one could find in many, many places?
Just returned from annual two weeks in Aruba and this would be huge there! Guaranteed!
Yeska - a wonderful fusion of the energies of salsa, Cuban and Ska music. This a great album! I love the timbales!
Wow, I thought this was some new (or new to me) Skatalites.  I really like it.  Based on this one song and the comments here I just ordered it.
YEAH, BABY!  In two nights I shall be dancing Cuban salsa with mojito in hand and chica guapa Yinna in the other at Cafe Havana in Cartagena de las Indias, and it's been two years so it's gonna be EXCELLENT and this puts me in the mood as I project myself there already!
Bill it's time to up this song in the rotation schedule.  Time for a new set.  This is a real toe tapper.
Some help with translation, please?

Fideo = noodle
Pa gosa = ??
Puchuco = ??

Hablo un poco (poquito?) de Espanol.  Gracias.

Don'cha just LOVE how music oozes and seeps across borders and cultural boundaries? Cuban jazz is one thing. Afro-Cuban jazz was one expansion, and here's another just by adding a ska beat—and messing a bit with the horn arrangement. All it takes is one visionary to ask, "Why don't we just add...?" I have no idea if it has any staying power, but this is great stuff.

piano, nice.  drums make the hips move, too

Isn't Yesca (not Yeska) mexican slang for the weed, pot, mota, ganja, etc.? A play on words maybe?
Oh no, this tune does EXACTLY what it is supposed to. You just need to stretch your horizons a bit, amigo. daddywoodland wrote:

does anyone else hear joe jackson's cha cha loco in that song? that is what i thought the song was before i looked at the site ...
So did I! What ever happened to Joe, anyway?
Most enjoyable! Gets the feet moving and the blood pumping...Not bad at all!
I'm waiting for the part where Ricky Martin starts singing or when Santana throws in the lead...

I could hardly abhor this more than I do. All it lacks is poorly articulated and off-key singing. It is tuneless jazz and features mostly horns. I would give my eye teeth never to hear those two features together again. Must I keep logging off this channel? I was promised rock music, but my friend must have been going on old information.
Later dude...perhaps you should speak to your friend about the meaning of eclectic.

Yes, I did, but it figures with South American rhythms...

Your average song rating is about 1.9 so, I guess I'm not surprised.
Speaking of songs that sound like other songs, think Kristy MacColl, "In These Shoes?"
SMOKIN'!!! Whatever this is, I am un gran aficionado
If you so distinctly dislike the music you hear, why do you keep listening? No one compels you to tune in. catmaven wrote:

Me neither. That show sucks. This tune, however, is interesting. Ska, jazz and latin all mixed into one? Yes, very interesting!!!

Actually Stevie doesn't get the credit for that riff - it's a standard montuno piano pattern that he used to give "Don't You Worry Bout a Thing" its latin flavor.
I really like this!
Sweet, mon.
I like this. But I would not sacrifice my virgin daughter for their approval.

There's also a riff just like that on a Barenaked Ladies song from Stunt.
