What a great track
I don't see any comments about the cover art, which seems to be a nod to 1) the Warhol banana images, 2) the Warhol photos of his face with a black background and 3) the album cover for Sticky Fingers.  I think that's kinda cool, even though I don't really love the band or the artist.

I'm trying to figure out whether this joke is worse than the smell of that fart.
initially thought this was a Pixies tune...nope!

Guy complains to his doctor that has nonstop gas and whenever he passes it, it makes an awful racket. "Let's hear it," sez the doctor. The guy obliges and a deafening "HONDA" fills the air. Smells pretty bad, too. The doctor ponders this a moment and asks, "Are you by any chance an absinthe drinker?" "Why, I am," sez the guy, "How did you know?"

"Because," the doctor replies, "Absinthe makes the fart go HONDA..."

We're here all week, folks, Shows at 7 and 9...

Then you can always call them the Handy War Dolls for a change? You may want to misplace the banana though

Thankfully it's been more than a week, much, much more.  Just to be sure.

i totally agree with you. This reminded me the dispute envolving vanilla ice and his ice ice baby grabbing the bass from under pressure from Queen and David Bowie's.

I don't care for there name. Muted guitars and overdubbed keyboards.
Like it ...unlike so many others...maybe because I am Europian ....must be some sociological reason??.....

no apologies necessary! and i strongly disagree; exploratory and groove-tastic in true dandy form. great track, amazing album; commencing (in)appropriate head-nodding, booty-wiggling, and mouthing of lyrics.

sounds a lot like a ton of other songs by this same band. interesting how that goes.

The piano player on this album leads a pretty upright life - far from grand, mind you.  That's the key.

Liking this lots - 8... must go & get more of these guys

Yes, I was sure the next tune was going to be Chris Rea's, Gods Great Banana Skin.

Just to throw my two cents in, I have to agree with "stescott100". And I hate Sarah Palin more than the next three people. Not enjoying puns has nothing to do with Palin's brand of purposeful ignorance and lowest common denominator politics.

The song's just a little bland too. :-)

I really liked the short "heaven" set.  Pixies, Monkey Gone to Heaven and Dandy Warhols, Heavenly.

Every since I saw the documentary "Dig!" on Hulu, I've had a slightly greater appreciation for the DW and the whole process for striking out with the intent to become a band and record music. It's just a wildly difficult thing to achieve.

You know what the base line says to me?

Nan, just a nice song, somehow different to the recurrent Dandy Warhol style. Really like it.

I LOVE the Dandies!!!
familiar, why?
Their tour bus was parked a block away from my place last week and I smirked because I haven't heard anything I like by them. Best thing I have heard so far from the Dandy's.. nothing too special though imo.

dis tur bing just the way I like my art! thanks for the point
not their best song but a great GREAT band. every CD is unique, each song a different style. One of my favs all time. And as true Dandy fans know, at least 5 of their songs are featured on major tv commercials. the non Dandy fans just dont know it
Great song for a Monday morning.
The refrain has a lot of Bowie in it. Overall, a pretty likeable album and a nice little song.

i agree. i discovered the dandys a few years ago (via radio paradise.com i might add). "13 tales" is a flawless album, from start to finish. everything else (and i have it all) is hit and miss. don't take that as a slam all you dandy fans. i just wish this band would live up to their potential, or my expecations. whatever comes first.
I don't know. I saw these guys in Dallas at the Gypsy Tea Room and thought they put on a very good show. Then bought the album and thought it sadly lacking. I know one can have beer goggles. Can one have beer ears?

it definitely is, combined (a la pop art) with the Stones' famous Sticky Fingers "zipper" cover: and also 'cause, you know, monkeys love bananas.

I remember an advertising campaign along time ago in Europe which went something like; 'unzip a banana'

Beneath the surface you can recognize a parody of various rock anthems. Does that make it more listenable in it's own right? Possibly not.

Only recently "discovered" Warhols, what a great band! Been jamming on "Tales." Not surprised to find them on RP.

Check out the movie Dig! sometime. It really shows the full background of the Dandies. I actually really respect them a lot. We went to see them a couple years ago at the Fillmore and they played for 3 1/2 hours!

Wacky, I was just listening to this album on the way to work. This song isn't the best from the album, but the album on the whole is excellent.
Welcome to the Monkey House is a great album. This song isn't necessarily a standout, but it's nice on it's own and contributes well to the movement of the whole album. I didn't know about the Dandy Warhols before I started listening to RP. Thanks Bill and Rebecca!
Ooo boy! the first comment! edit - I like this tune. Wish iTunes Canada didn't suck, can't find this to buy up here.
Almost didn't recognize the Dandy Warhols here, until I looked at "Now Playing." Not their best work, IMO.
