There's nothing left for you and me.
I go walking down there, I go searching down there,
But nobody there remembers me.
It dosen't matter now to me cause I lost my baby.
Nothing means that much to me without my baby anyway.
Oh. Oh. Oh.Oh Look at all you lucky people, think of all the things you do.
Look at all you happy people, wish I could be like you. Oh.Oh.Oh.Oh.Oh.Oh

Oh. Oh. Oh.Oh Look at all you lucky people, look of all the things you do.
Look at all you happy people, wish I could be like you.
Look at all your smileing faces, think of all the things you've done.
Look at all you happy people, and I've lost my only one.
Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh.
chris sounds a little angry...
And? So what. GREAT TUNE! Thanx RP!
Always wondered the same exact thing.
Phoebe from Friends suggested his singing style wasn't masculine enough...
Umm. Very definition of male crooner.
Their user names?
Sure, just like I can tell that this one is ... uh ... it's ... no, that doesn't work.

I think you've just described The Blues. ; )
You can often tell a male comment from a female comment by which side their shirt's buttons are on.
how about this one?
worth checking out
Hey it sells records.
What do you expect, Voltaire or something?
Unless you're a hermit, don't tell me you've never lost your baby, she went away, woe was you, what were you gonna do, and were so blue.
Yes, been blue, lost my baby, she went away, blah blah. But if I was writing songs and music, I'd get my head out of my ego ass and write about the world outside my head. I'd certainly mix up the delivery of the message. Every Issak song, at least those I've heard on RP and elsewhere, is the same crap about his bruised and busted heart. Larger social concerns? Some humor? Her point of view? Another topic? I can name 100 or more great music acts who were ready willing able to move out of their zone. Why should I listen to him? He's an auto PSD on this laptop.

Still I agree he has a great voice
I'm with you on this. I find Chris Isaak the most annoying artist on RP by far nowadays. He is easily the number one reason that I switch off RP and listen to something else. And because he seems to pop up with incredible (and annoying) regularity I now find myself turning RP off way more often than I would otherwise. It's something about his nasal vocal sound employing excessive vibrato and the fact that although he emotes heavily it just doesn't sound like he cares about what he is singing about. IMHV, and YMMV.
Fantastic voice. Fantastic swing on that hi-hat!! Love this song so much!
Still I agree he has a great voice
Totally agree :))
Love the melancholy quality. Rock on all you lost lovers..........
Well, the answer is simple then -- log on more often!
"Chris Isaak has got to be the most lovelorn sonofabitch in show business"
Funny KCAR, and somebody has to be I guess. Who can think of another lovelorn SOB? Great song by the way.
Forget anything you think or have heard about Issak.
Instead - go see him in concert!
A year later, and five plays. But it's cool, I dig this tune.
Man, that's some jaded remark. If this were "airplay" you'd be getting six a DAY...

Yippee.
I take no exception to your comment but every time I scroll down and read here I think of other subjects that are available (as per Steve Goodman): mama, trains, trucks, prison, getting drunk, et al. Just in case the man runs out of things to say about love lost...

He does plenty of other songs but it would seem that (with the exception of Santa Claus is Coming to Town, feat. Stevie Nicks) only the heartbreak songs make it to the charts.
"...look at all you happy people!..."
Yes, indeed. How do you think THIS kid feels about all you happy people!
Love it's Memphis Rootsiness, sort of Carl Perkins meets The Byrds.
I like the song and singer but this comment is hilarious. Thanks for the laugh.
I like the song/singer as well. . .
So I guess you feel just peachy when your girl leaves you? What is the statute of limitations on relationship grief in your book? Without songs about gettin dumped what else would musicians write about?

. . . needed to be at a higher altitude when they dropped him. . .

His live shows are entertainment at its finest, too. He has a great on-stage sense of humor and gets instant audience rapport, and wow, that voice, that timing, that heart-felt twang he puts into those classic lovelorn lyrics that grab the hearts and ears of so many, every time...
That's what makes him so great.
Amen

Who remembers The Chris Isaak Show? So fun. I keep waiting for it to come out on DVD.
Woot!
This guy is one of a long line of whiny-boy singers. (Latest incarnation is Ray LaMontaigne.) This song is an upbeat tune, and I like it, but the lyrics reveal his true colors: "Look at all you happy people, wish I could be like you."

Actually, I was stuck on the throne while listening to this song and I thought to myself, "Chris Isaak has got to be the most lovelorn sonofabitch in show business." Yes, songs about losing at love are the bread and butter of songwriters, but Isaak wallows in the pain with his singing style. You'd think his vital organs were being dissolved in the confines of a four-minute pop song.
I can't recall hearing a song of his that wasn't about romantic heartbreak. I'm sure he writes about stuff besides love, but those songs don't seem to get played.

Yeah. Imagine lyrics like that on album entitled "Forever Blue"

Definitely agree with you about broadening musical horizons with RP.
Chris Isaak? I've heard too many heartbreak-warble songs from him. Yes, many of them are beautiful but I'd like to hear another style from him.
Who hasn't?

There are many Chris Isaak songs that are worthy. I'd love to hear more, because it's so enjoyable to listen to some of your favourite music with other people.
Last play before the day you wrote this (6/29) was 6/18 — at 2am PST. Last play during peak listening hours/days was on 5/17. In other words, pretty normal RP airplay frequency.
Even though the drummer can't play,
and his ex-guitarist badly missing!
Yes, if you like this song, you'll like the album.
Except when he sings Rockabilly.
Or except when he sings, still sounds like howling dogs to me...
Chris can do no wrong.
Except when he sings Rockabilly.
" I am a passenger,"
ROCK THE HOUSE, BILL! Nice day and night on RP!
I like this guy. If you catch his show on cable you can hear him sing with other great performers.
F'instance, Trish Yearwood blew me away, Not being a country fan, I didnt know what I was missing.
Thanks Chris!
yes, another time...born to be singer!

AMEN! How can you be this hot and this talented at the same time?
But you may have another opinion. And that's cool.
Peace

So it wasn't Chris Isaak? Not sung by Chris? I thought for sure it sounded like Chris Isaak.
Do that, this album is very good!!
Chris can do no wrong.

Thanks, you can always count on our fellow RP listeners. Man I really thought it was this guy!
Thanks again.

Totally agree! Yum!
This one is pretty obvious:
Chris Isaak can eat crackers in my bed anytime.
Good luck, Liz.
