I hear "I just can't get enough" of DM (1981) and some COLDPLAY
Brilliant sequence from The Treble Spankers to Kraftwerk to Coldplay! This kind of thing is why listen to Radio Paradise.

Love it.
Also like Coldplay's hommage.
Also like Coldplay's hommage.
Thanks Bill for playing Coldplay - Talk - I was going nuts trying to figure out were that hook came from.
Kraftwerk it may be but the grinding repitition of such a trivial theme is just that. Grinding.

Oh my, Coldplay based almost all riffs of their song on this track. :O

Had no idea Coldplay based their song on an old Kraftwerk tune... Thanks for playing this, Bill!

Everything was easier:
The band received permission from the electronic music German band Kraftwerk to use the main riff from its song "Computer Love", from its 1981 studio album Computer World, for "Talk", replacing Kraftwerk's synthesizers with guitars.
From wiki.
One of the most import albums of my youth. I wore my cassette of Computer Love down to the bone.
As for the comments about Coldplay’s use of the main motif, it seems some people atebsuggesting that there’s a plagiarism issue. There is not. Look at the credits for Talk and you will find that Coldplay co-credited the members of Kraftwerk for the composition. It’s a tasteful homage, not theft.

I love Radio Paradise!
Especially for such things: playing "The Model" by "The Treble Spankers" and immediately after - "Kraftwerk".
And Coldplay :)

Yikes, I had no idea how much Coldplay borrowed from this one.
love most Kraftwerk (wonder if in 36 years my OS X will look as silly as the album art : )

I think you've got a case about being stalked
Bah. I've never heard this before. Now I like Coldplay even less. My ears find this very boring, though.
edit: RP is scaring me now. I PSD'd from Low Strung - Fix You" to this, then the main stream came back on. Coldplay - Talk.
Stop it.

This reminds me of Information Society s l o w e d w a y d o w n
Oh brandog, that made me smile - here's an excerpt taken from the page that resolves to the link I've added at the end
Bands who've sampled KRAFTWERK
ARTIST: Information Society
ALBUM: Hack
DATE: 1990
TRACK: A Knife and a Fork
The intro of this song features Florian counting to 4 in German, from the intro of Showroom Dummies.
TRACK: Hack 1
This track has the sample of Florian saying "ein" from Showroom Dummies and a rhythm and interlude effect from the Computer World version of Home Computer. There is also something that sounds like a rearrangement of a Kraftwerk melody, but I can't put my finger on it.
ARTIST: Information Society
ALBUM: How Long (single)
DATE: 1990
TRACK: How Long (Psycholash Mix)
TRACK: How Long (Technolash Mix)
These tracks use (but do not sample) the melody of Pocket Calculator in the second verse and in the breakdown.
ARTIST: Information Society
ALBUM: Lay All Your Love on Me (single)
DATE: 1989
About this single John Turpin says: "The b-side to their ABBA cover is Funky at 45. It samples the German 1-8 counting from Numbers. On the 7" record, the mix is identified as The Augusta/Dusseldorf mix, tipping the hat to the birthplaces of two of their main influences: James Brown and Kraftwerk. In fact, all of the tracks where Information Society samples Kraftwerk, they also sample James Brown, usually at the same time. (Except for How Long.)"
Some other bands who've sampled KRAFTWERK
Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonic Force
Chemical Brothers
Depeche Mode
Devo
Fat Boy Slim
The KLF (AKA the Jams AKA the Timelords)
2 Live Crew
Madonna
New Order
The Prodigy
Utah Saints
The Villiage People

And, for the record, Computer Love is a track on the LP(CD) Computer World. It was released in May 1981
I remember it well and cought one of the UK tour dates

:headshake: 1981... just look at that terminal!
The Kraftwerk song is actually from 1981 (approximately). I guess 1990 is the date of reissue.

...and thanks for pointing out that the Kraftwerk song came first! :)
Thanks for playing this right after Coldplay's "Talk". I would have been driving myself crazy wondering, "Where have I heard that hook before?" :headache.gif:
