I want to live where soul meets body
And let the sun wrap its arms around me
And bathe my skin in water cool and cleansing
And feel - feel what it's like to be new

'Cause in my head
There's a Greyhound Station
Where I send my thoughts
To far-off destinations
So they may have a chance
Of finding a place where they're
Far more suited than here

I cannot guess what we'll discover
When we turn the dirt with our palms cupped like shovels
But I know our filthy hands can wash one another's
And not one speck will remain

I do believe it's true
That there are roads left in both of our shoes
But if the silence takes you
Then I hope it takes me too
So, brown eyes, I'll hold you near
'Cause you're the only song I want to hear
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere

Where soul meets body
Where soul meets body
Where soul meets body

And I do believe it's true
That there are roads left in both of our shoes
But if the silence takes you
Then I hope it takes me too
So, brown eyes, I'll hold you near
'Cause you're the only song I want to hear
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere

How cum they don't have the "badap badap bada" included in the lyrics. Brian Wilson would concur.
I probably wrote this already, but this is one of my favourite songs of all time.
something about the chord changes in this gets under my skin in a good way.

Way better live . Check out this youtube live set. It really starts rockin' at around the 8:00 minute mark.

Very talented band, consistently delivering.  Taste is a personal thing.  If you don't like it, wait for the next tune coming up!{#Bananajam}

Actually it is an opening for uninformed biased comments. Feel free to list your best songs at anytime for we heathens.  Liking something or not liking something is no license to judge.

that was sure unexpected, and fascinating no matter how irrelevant to me personally. good job, seriously.  i know who to ask next time something like that comes up.
i cant help thinking if only it had been sleigh ride for cutie, then the whole mythology could be bundled into a sound track for a cozy yet flashy disney holiday special, which  is exactly what we need more of this time of year.  or club med for cutie even.

i guess some people are just too massively evolved (or stupid) to think about that breach between their soul and body, or value a nice melody to ride while doing it. such bliss.  ..must be nice.
I like this band, a lot, but . . .

with my back turned everyone sounds like Guster this afternoon.  Whoda thought they were so influential.

I believe it loosely translates to, "this music really sucks."

I'm sure DCFC frontman Ben Gibbard runs home crying to his wife Zooey Deschanel every night because you guys don't like him.
Read the lyrics to "What Sara Said" once and tell me this guy isn't talented.

Are these guys still alive?
Such a good album.
Bumped it one to an 8. Right on about pop perfection. Guys can write a hook.
Compare this DCFC with those of today!
LIGHTYEARS....!

This song is a clear 10 in music and lyrics!
WONDERFUL!

They are very very good, and if Neil Young fans don't get them, well, then I guess that says something about Neil Young fans, huh? {#Wink}

That maybe they have their own distinctive tastes?  Or maybe that they apperciate the depth and warmth of most NY songs where Death Cab tends to have a more modern and emoish sound.  Neil writes songs that rock, songs that cut to the heart, and songs that generally require a bit more openness of mind and introspection.  He's also written a few that sucked.

I'm not a huge Death Cab fan, but I don't mind hearing them from time to time (but I do wish for more Postal Service).  I also can see why this would not be a good band to open for NY.  If Neil Young fans don't like Death Cab, all it says is that they don't like Death Cab.

Renee Fleming plays Soul Meets Body (by Death Cab For Cutie), theme included  in their recent Albúm:
Dark Hope (2010)...beautiful.

What i think: It is very likely that we get in the mood to review the original artists, when we heard the "covers" by Renee, this only proves that it is not so easy to build great songs in the field of light music-pop-soul. But, I find it interesting that Renee foray in the field of light music-pop-soul, which shows the other side of this amazing singer, classical, opera, here appears bereft of any career aspirations, with humility, open mind, unprejudiced, a sense liberating, perhaps to prove that life is indeed very short, and you only live once. And if this is important for any human being, is essential for an artist. Another aspect that caught my attention immediately was the choice of artists and songs honored for this album of covers, which, curiously enough, largely coincide with my musical preferences. I would also like to confess that Renne (and others artists) contributed decisively to me to learn, to enjoy, the Opera. Perhaps the characteristics of her voice, sings in a way friendly, human, natural, until tender, as an "extension" of the sounds of nature itself. In addition to Renne, only Maria Callas and Pavaroti i had identical feelings. In the end, I think these artists are, in many areas, with its extraordinary power of persuasion and inspiration, captivating all of us to enjoy the various musical styles.

I always feel a bit guilty tapping my feet and grooving to DCFC toons as the lyrics are so melancholy and death-obsessed - "If the silence takes you then I hope it takes me too". Poppy tunes, gothic lyrics. Toe-tapping thanatos, perhaps. Anyway, 9 from the Nottingham jury.
Muy muy bueno.

Wonderful song. The bassline is restrained, yet adds so much depth.

The first time I ever heard this song was on Austin City Limits, then again when they were on Letterman. Didn't hear the studio recording 'til much later. I actually prefer it live vs the "polished" studio cut. Guess there's no accounting for taste, eh?
Cool song.

I really like this album, in my opinion the most solid of their discography... I hope they will keep going on this way!
