Gonna close my eyes
Gonna watch you go
Runnin' through this life, darling, like a field of snow
As the tracer glides
in its graceful arc
Send a little prayer out to you, cross the falling dark

Tell the reaper man
And the stars above
That you're the one I love
(Yeah)

Perfect summer's night
Not a wind and breeze
Just the bullets whispering, gentle amongst the new green leaves
There's things I might have said
Only wish I could
Now I'm leaking life faster than I'm leaking blood

Tell the reaper man
And the stars above
That you're the one I love
You're the one I love
The one I love
(Yee-Hee, Yee-Hee)

Don't see elysium
Don't see no fiery hell
Just the lights up bright, baby
In the big hotel
Next wave comin' in
Like an ocean roar
Won't you take my hand, darling
On that old dance floor
We can twist and shout
Little turtle dove

And you're the one I love
You're the one I love
The one I love

Oh, c'mon, I can easily see one of the neck-beard Linux dudes playing this while recompiling his kernel because of a new video card.
"neck-beard" never heard that before, but I can visualize it quite well

I'm sayin it again!!!
RP, for the sake of all that is good, original, and intelligent in music, please ax this guy from your playlist.
Like this song a lot!!!

Hmm. As though someone would actually want to copy this CD? I thought David's first album was interesting but everything since then has sounded (to me) like a bland rehash of what came before. The Sony DRM rootkit only infects Windows systems. And infected CDs can be readily ripped on Mac or Linux systems, though I cannot imagine a Linux user posessing this CD.

Fairly boring song from Gray. I think the first 4 lines in the song are pretty stupid. Gonna close my eyes Girl and watch you go Running through this life darling Like a field of snow

Uh... obviously Bill has it, and he's definitely a Linux user.
Not bad. Not great.
stick a fork in it. it's done.

Picked up the album today. Quite nice all the way through. Will try some of his earlier stuff-any suggestions RPers?
New Day at Midnight is pretty killer too! Lots of good stuff there, uh huh!

You can't go wrong with just about anything from his White Ladder album.
I have as yet not put one negative comment on this site... but for some reason I just don't like this song! He's just too bloody emotional and grating... Oh well, can't win 'em all, eh? There's a first for everything!

Sooooo tired of hearing this song, on EVERY station I listen to.

I love your Linux user comment. Too hilarious. I do enjoy Linux and I definetly do NOT enjoy David Gray. His stuff puts me to sleep. Thanks for cracking me up!
LMAO! A friend drrrraaaagggged me to a David Gray concert once (once), and I did fall asleep!
a nice pop tune from some one new to me. thanks Bill
Help! It's growing on me!
Several years ago our good friend in Belfast sent us David Gray's White Ladder with a note that we might enjoy his work. Then he got going in the US. He's still doing good stuff. Good for him!
Usually, David Gray does not annoy me, but this is
sweet
I like this song more and more every time I hear it. There's just something about his voice that lets me know he's singing directly from his soul; it's usually hard to resist music like that. I've bumped my rating from a 6 to an 8.
Not bad.
sorry all you smack-talkers. i agree with geotrash. this is a great song. good lyrics and great sound. hope this stays in rotation.

Guess I'm in the minority here because I like this song a lot. Based on some of the comments, I think some folks misunderstood the lyrics. It's a story about a guy getting shot in battle remembering his love at home. I thought the story is pretty well told and the music that goes with it I really like. There's plenty of crap out there, but I don't consider this song or this album to be among it. To each their own, I guess. Dave
I like it too.

BORING-BORING-BORING. Like all the rest of his stuff.
sorry to disagree with you y'all. i enjoy this song and hope that it gets repeated play time
'The repo man'? 'Woo hoo'? Is it at all possible that Mr Gray is trying awfully hard to be The Boss? Perhaps an extra helping or two of talent might help, eh?

Sorry, Bill -- you don't score on this one. Bad follow-up to Bjork@%^!# imho Even with the announcement break...
Thanks for playing the song in my head. How do you do it, Bill? Sorry about the DRM. Don't blame me. ;-) Likeable tune.

What? "Tell the repo man and the stars above" I think this song is too cheesy.
When I hear any protestation repeated that much, it gets sickening and I start doubting it.
I think this is a great song.... just my 2 cents...

Eloquently put! That's my considered opinion too.
Not too crazy about this one. His stuff was kind of new and different when hearing his first album, but I'm growing tired of his monotonous voice and songs that are always sounding the same. 4.
quite a disappointment. here's another great artist who, following an extended bout of unprecedented recognition, has returned to the studio to release a warmed-over potato from the night before. anyone have any chives? david : are you TRYING to be just as bland as new-millenium springsteen? given the originality and impact of your work in the past, it seems as though you'd have to be.
okay i don't care what you say that mans voice is awesome. not matter what he is singing
meh.

saw David Gray in DC last week and man was he great!
