Distant flickering, greener scenery
This weather's bringing it all back again
Great adventures, faces in condensation
I'm going outside and take it all in

You say too late to start
Got your heart in a headlock
I don't believe any of it
You say too late to start
With your heart in a headlock
You know you're better than this

Wear a different pair, just something out of step
Throw a stranger an unexpected smile
With big intention, still posted at your station
Always on about the day it should have flown

You say too late to start
Got your heart in a headlock
I don't believe any of it
You say too late to start
With your heart in a headlock
You know you're better than this

Afraid to start
Got your heart in a headlock
I don't believe any of it
You say too late to start
With your heart in a headlock
You know you're better than this

(You've) been walking, you've been hiding
And you look half dead half the time
Monitoring you, like machines do
You've still got it, I'm just keeping an eye
(You've) been walking, you've been hiding
And you look half dead half the time
Monitoring you, like machines do
You've still got it, I'm just keeping an eye

You know you're better than this

Come back and start
Got your heart in a headlock
No I don't believe any of it
You say too late to start
With your heart in a headlock
You know you're better than this

Afraid to start
Got your heart in a headlock
I don't believe any of it
You say too late to start
With your heart in a headlock
You know you're better than this

Love the sound. Adore the lyrics. Kinda sad & pertinent. Cello background? What. Do I know?

LOL  Oh yah.
The first time I heard her was the theme song for "Grey's Anatomy," I think... Whatever the case, I love her voice. Guh - I just cleared my first long list of music to buy, and now I've got another one... {#Mrgreen}

Oh Imogen! Imogen!!
GREAT
One week to go in NYC!

Indeed. Refreshing is the word.
Quite unique and refreshing!  I've had this CD for a while, and this song has inspired me to dig it out and dust it off!

I used this song to shop for speakers last week. Great studio work, and her pulling this stuff off live is pretty sweet. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25VGdNU3nrU

I, on the other, other hand, read her bio and, impressed by it, have since given her a critical listen, usually upping my rating by one from my impulse. I like her as an artist.

I really like her first album and her work in Frou Frou, but this CD is hard to love. Hadda give it away.
This gal is something new under the sun.

was made in the 60's and 70's.

Wow!!  You played Porcupine Tree - Sleep Together just before this, which made me sooo very happy... By playing this now you have made me insanely happy!!

Thanks so much, Bill!!

Your flashes of Frou Frou were because she WAS part of them.
I just bought this CD, as a result of having heard her a while back right here. I think it's a great album, even if she does sound just like ____________ (go ahead, fill it in). Thanks for the tip, RP!
Here we go, yet another CD that is beggin to be purchased.
I have an intuition this woman is a big talent. Hide and Seek (from the CD) is a rare hypnotic track the likes of which I have never before heard. Compelling.
gross.

Finally picked up this CD after saying I was going to for about a year. I ripped it on my Mac with iTunes with no problems; the sales clerk did say there was "Sony DRM" on the disc when I asked.

You should have gone my dad's route and brainwashed the kid to like the music you liked in high school.
What! Do the Shins and Imogen have the same keyboard player? I like the strings though.
Spectacular album.
I like her singing much better when it's not digitally processed into oblivion. This is pretty good.
I'm having Suzzanne Vega flashbacks
I love Imogen Heap! I saw her here in Denver not quite two months ago, and it was a very memorable performance. What a talent.

Sounds like. That song is "Cosy in the Rocket" by Psapp. The production and vocals are so similar that the first time I watched Grey's, I thought it was Frou Frou.
There's a group of teenage girls playing Pictionary in the room and their ears perked up when this came on. They knew it and liked it, sounds good to me too.
I've loved this song since I first heard it here on Radio Paradise! RP FOREVER! -Bright Shadow
She is so talented. Saw her on one of the late night talk shows, and she's a one woman band. She played all instruments. I just wish I could play this in my computer.
Hmmm.. This isn't too bad at all...

Excellent. I love the energy... I hope she doesn't get ruined by the pop culture machine.
Is this the theme song from "Grey's Anatomy"?
Who is this... Peter Gabriels daughter? This sounds like Sledgehammer part 2 (unfortunately with the electric bugaloo)
10! Thank you RP for introducing me to Imogen!

close...Women's/Gender Studies, which does cover a wide variety of subjects, including psychology! Great guess!
I don't care who you are or what you are attracted to...Imogen has one sexy voice! Like butta!
she also sang the opening song for Chronicles of Narnia...good stuff all around steven
I loved Imogene Heap's "Blanket" with Urban Species...this, not so much
who needs another Dido?? can this be more insipid?
i'm hearing more from this group and growing more fond of them. :)
Great song at 1AM with headphones.

Sorry, but "gender" is a grammatical term and "sex" a biological one, which was the original point. And, no, "gender" as you intend it is not some PC "psychological construct," as anyone who has raised both boys and girls knows all too well. It's at the core of their being, since scientific studies have shown that female and male brains are quite different.
Again ... I say, Imogen rocks. Always

Sorry to be a pain in the ass, but I think you meant sex not gender. Gender is a differnt thing entirely.
Let's Dictionary.com have a shot at this, shall we?

She's got quite a magical vibe for a whipper-snapper.
Very cool baseline. The singer has a very pure-sounding voice.
Great album.. Bought for myself for xmas. "Hide & Seek" is a top track in addition to this one...
