I woke up and wished that I was dead
With an aching in my head
I lay motionless in bed
I thought of you and where you'd gone
And let the world spin madly on
And everything that I said I'd do
Like make the world brand new
And take the time for you
I just got lost and slept right through the dawn
And the world spins madly on
I let the day go by
I always say goodbye
I watch the stars from my windowsill
The whole world is moving and I'm standing still
I woke up and wished that I was dead
With an aching in my head
I lay motionless in bed
The night is here and the day is gone
And the world spins madly on
I thought of you and where you'd gone
And the world spins madly on
And the world spins madly on
And the world spins madly on and on and on
With an aching in my head
I lay motionless in bed
I thought of you and where you'd gone
And let the world spin madly on
And everything that I said I'd do
Like make the world brand new
And take the time for you
I just got lost and slept right through the dawn
And the world spins madly on
I let the day go by
I always say goodbye
I watch the stars from my windowsill
The whole world is moving and I'm standing still
I woke up and wished that I was dead
With an aching in my head
I lay motionless in bed
The night is here and the day is gone
And the world spins madly on
I thought of you and where you'd gone
And the world spins madly on
And the world spins madly on
And the world spins madly on and on and on

The Weepies are doing a short US tour this year and will be at the Fillmore in San Francisco on May 12th.
You couldn't understand this song if you hadn't experienced loss. Beautiful.
The animated video for this good

Somehow I can imagine JD wrapping up another episode of Scrubs when this song starts.

I love their sound and simplicity.

On the plus side, it's quite short

Actually, when Bill said these guys were called "the weepies", I laughed because it was such a perfect name for their sound. I think the song is pretty lame.

Nice!
Love The Weepies. Intelligent Indie Rock. They have to be among the coolest music I've "woken up" to. :-)
I just adore this song each time I hear it.
And it speaks to the melancholy I'm feeling right now.

Very perty song!

My new favorite album. Every track on Say I Am You stands alone on its own. I really enjoy Deb's backup on this one. Try "Riga Girls" and "Slow Pony Home".

I think this is a beautiful and deceptively simple song. Takes me back to a place I don't like to go, though. For those who can't relate to this one, I sincerely hope you never do.
Crap. I need a f*&^% drink now.

Actually Cat Butt is the worst band name I ever heard.
Thanks to RP I like The Weepies and this one is a really sad song
In my pop 5 of best albums of 2006 - a must have.
One of the few songs that me and my 18 yr old both like

Great song!
An 8 from me FWIW
This is the song for you if you've ever failed someone and end up hating yourself and missing the world. "The day is gone..."
Worst name for a band this side of Hoobastank.
Gorgeous song, though.
I can't tell you how much this song just struck the right chord in me.... I love RP for constantly, inexorably and happily expanding my musical horizons. 9
Lovely kicking your feet up walk through the woods and light of life.

Exactly what I was thinking.
I love Deb Talan and Steve Tannen's solo stuff, but I LOVE them together as the Weepies. Their first album, Happiness, is a short but lovely gem.

This would be a good name for a lot of post-Coldplay heart-on-their-sleeve groups.
heh. amusingly, this duet (singer-songwriters Deb Talan and Steve Tannen--Deb Talan has some other songs on RP) has a great album called "Happiness", which is almost all very upbeat. =)
Great track!
Excellent! More!
