The beast and dragon, adored
You been gone so long
Where you been for so long
I went to places unknown
Rented a room
And I forgot my pen
Shook my twin
And I had to find the feelin' again

Now all I need is a crew
One that can act as if
One that can slay on cue
And sneeze and sniff
Uh-huh alright
I'm going back to the water
Been landlocked too long

I got a feelin' it don't come cheap
I got a feelin' oh and then it got to me
It took its time a-working into my soul
I got to believe it come from rock and roll
Believe it come from rock and roll

Where did you get for so long
I been learning my scene
I been watching my friends move away
I summon my love back to me
And I went down by the seawall
That's when I knew, knew They Never Got You

Great dominions they don't come cheap
Great dominions they just want you to leave
I got the meaning the meaning sat tight
Said it's not what you expected but it could be right

I got a feelin' it didn't come free
I got a feelin' and then it got to me
When you don't fell it it shows they tear out your soul
And when you believe they call it rock and roll
And when you believe they call it rock and roll

perfect description.

That staccato guitar sounds "Wilco-ish" to me.
You need a new singer guys.

Why, no, Fred.  Not that I can remember.  Has anything amusing happened to you in connection with a spoon?
(Hoping that Fred has a story for us.)
Disjointed on so many levels...yet I kinda like it. Has a subliminal James Bond thing...Sort of. No. Yes. Maybe. Ugh....

Does that pickup line work for you, fred? {#Whipit}
Excellent tune - shocking it's only a 6.4 overall?!

Marginal, at best, almost gave it a sucko-barfo
"So baby hold onto me... Whatever will be will be..."

Just the surprise that another one has broken while I was using it.  The funny thing is I should have trusted a plastic spoon in the first place, and then that I was surprised it broke!   {#Eek}  That's life -trusting in a utensil just because someone said it was one and I should.
Love the guitar in this one. fantatstic song.

The Magical Guitar sounds very similar to ''The Moldy Peaches'' NYC's A Grave Yard

Another Spoon song, and again this guy's voice just continues to grate on my ears.

Great, thanks, they just fell off.
When I think of a spoon, I think if a plastic spoon, a plastic spoon bent all the way back with a load of musturd on it.
Tally ho !

Has anything amusing ever happened to you in connection with a spoon?
Ugh. You don't get to do that to my ears. Spoon, into the dishwasher you go.
Great song, so I give it an 8

Great album too. i <3 Spoon

It's tracks like this that remind me why I don't care for their newest album as much.
Spooning all the way...8

I wanted to like these guys, and then I saw them on Austin City Limits. Incredibly average at best live. Weak vocals, sub-par musicianship, just overall not good. Just my opinion but I think the studio does these guys lots of favors. Maybe it was just a one-off bad show, I dunno.

I also must differ - I saw them at Summerfest last year in Milwaukee and they were excellent. I think this song is one of the weaker one's on this CD, but I love the stuff off of GA GA GA Ga (except for the overplayed "Underdog").....

I saw them live and up-close in Chicago last year and I have to disagree. Maybe they had a bad night (or pissed the editor off) at Austin City Limits, but they were pretty tight at Lollapalloza.

Exactly. Another word that came to mind is discordant. I know Spoon is supposed to be all that, but jeez, why is it so damn hard to listen to?

I saw the cover and thought Adam Sandler's "Red Hooded Sweeeeeaaaaat Shirt!" myself. As for the song's pace, I was thinking some of the 80s stuff put out by ex-Beatles. And the voice is kinda Lennon on "I Am the Walrus"... I'll be darn, I figured they were English but Wikipedia says they are from Austin, TX.
I saw it and thought 'SPO IME FICTI', which made a lot of sense.
love this song

I could have sworn this was Lennon. I came here to figure out what song it was. So weird.

nasty
Sorry, Neil Young used up my quota of tolerance for really bad "artsy" guitar work.

I checked in to see how many posts reflected this... This band rocks!
these guys kick arse!
Every time I hear it, I catch new things (like something by Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, or Frank Zappa, for example)... the angry piano notes the squeaky balloon effects the amazing channeling of Lennon, Lynne, Bowie and Mott the Hoople and all done in a festive atmosphere of august and austere musicianship. Yeah, I love it! Hey, is that PT, coming through next? Oh how lovely this stretch is; a thing of frickin' beauty, this! You go, Bill!
I wanna spoon a .... he who has a long mane. Rrrrrrrrr I'm not into dragons. I wanna spooooooooooooooooon.
While I love Spoon and all, I was a little turned off by them when my roommate told me he read in an article that some of the lyrics are quoted directly from lennon, dylan, etc... and when asked about it, then singer said it was a form of 'tribute' to them.. ehh, i dunno.. just rubbed me the wrong way a little bit... anybody know any truth behind it all? quite a talented band nonetheless, and rather entertaining live...

The rest of the album is great. It's really strong all the way through, though I think the best 4 tracks are those played on RP. Plus the cover is just gorgeous. My best buy of the year.
I really wish I could take credit for this one... but my upload of it got rejected.
I generally like Spoon, but that scraping noise is unpleasant.

this has become a tasty treat..soon to turn into a favourite flavour
I'm turning people on to this left and right here... All agree: we all line up for more luscious scoops of this stuff!
Hey, if RP's going to play the daylights out of one Austin band, Spoon, how about some What Made Milwaukee Famous, while we're at it? Pretty good tune off a really solid album.

Just saw these guys in London. Wow. Incredible live. They do these amazing long solos. I'm completely addicted.

GREAT TRIPPY NEW RIPPING STUFF! Love it! Lay it on us, Bill!
... Spoon it ! ... Photo by Autumn de Wilde Is the end of Spoon in sight? Not likely. Josh Zarbo, left, Britt Daniel, Eric Harvey and Jim Eno have learned to be comfortable serving up their own brand of musicmaking.
... Gimme Fiction ... ... Gimme Fiction Anytime! ...
One of my favorite new groups, I'm glad RP helped me discover them.....very nice!
Austinites unite! They've been famous here in Austin for a while and it's great to finally hear them getting some play at the paradise. The new album is amazing.

Nice Neil Youngish tortured guitar riff in the midsection.

sounds a lot like John Lennon
Someone's been listening to John Lennon's first solo album, which goes to one's core and remains shattering to this day. Check out I Found Out.
Awesome!!! This is a great tune from a really good album. I'd love to see My Mathematical Mind on here too. I uploaded both to the LRC and both got sorried a few weeks ago. So happy to see this somehow made it's way to the main channel.

Yeah, I heard shades of The White Album as well.

I like the guitar part, generally quite enjoyable song.
Okay. This is eclectic. Enough of you all, who are bored with the repetition of the RP palylist.
