Another head hangs lowly
Child is slowly taken
And the violence caused such silence
Who are we mistaken
But you see it's not me
It's not my family
In your head, in your
Head they are fighting
With their tanks and their bombs
And their bombs and their guns
In your head,
In your head they are cryin'
In your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie
Hey, hey
What's in your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie
Hey, hey, hey, oh
Dou, dou, dou, dou
Dou, dou, dou, dou
Dou, dou, dou, dou
Dou, dou, dou, dou
Another mother's breakin'
Heart is taking over
When the violence causes silence
We must be mistaken
It's the same old theme since nineteen-sixteen
In your head,
In your head they're still fightin'
With their tanks and their bombs
And their bombs and their guns
In your head, in your head they are dyin'
In your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie
Hey, hey
What's in your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie
Hey, hey, hey
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Hey, oh, ya, ya-a
Child is slowly taken
And the violence caused such silence

I'm sure that no one needs to explain anything, but tastes are as individual as the individuals who possess them. Go ahead and like the Cranberries. Who here has the right to question you or your tastes? I happen to like your posts and very much enjoy reading them.
On the other hand, we differ about the Cranberries, but who really cares?!?!
Well, I have the right, I think. And anybody else.
But if I do so, who can tell, if I AM right?
Yes, anybody as well, nobody as well!
and about shallow - I dont believe that as well.
I´d more suspect too much deepness - and some anxiety of that?
(so now I took my right and may be wrong)
The song is rough.
Well done.
Like it!

Well
This song to me defines the Cranberries. The song itself is a powerful message, and though I am not prone to emotional outbursts it does 'affect' me. Secondly, the music fits the power of the message. To say I like this is understatement.

Ouch make it stop
Just finished the non-acoustic. This (that?) song ROCKS. Ears are ringing.
Man what was she like 22 when she did this... Jesus what was I doing at 22?
Man what was she like 22 when she did this... Jesus what was I doing at 22?
This is a music station? This is music? Awful .
All this made me want to do is listen to the non-acoustic version... which I'm now doing on YouTube.
I love this ...

Thank you, vandal... I"m still trying to understand and/or like this particular song, but it's just not happening yet. I can appreciate the passion in the vocals, and the mastery of the instrumentals, so I guess that's as far as I can progress for now. I'd hug you, but how would THAT be interpreted, however innocent it might be? Meanwhile, it's time to light incense, watch the sunset, and prepare for another day. You are a little bit amazing. I hope you'll carry it with you, because it's all I can offer.

I never liked this song, although I do really like Cranberries. I know the reason it sounds harsh to my ears is because it's a heavy-message song. I guess I just prefer their lightweight, pretty music. I must be a very shallow person...

Why do I dislike this so much...
god made this song for a reason... we wouldn't have all these hysterical comments if it didn't exist
"flipping-over" of the voice, in English, is known as "yodeling"
I pulled this up because I actually like it.
I like any Cranberries song EXCEPT Lingerrrrrrrr because I was living in their hometown of Limerick the month that came out, and the local stations played it every...third...song. I missed a dinner with my host brother they came to, so i *almost* got to meet them. wow.
Anyway, awesome city, awesome group and album (-1). but i get it. she yodels.

Love the original version. Might actually prefer this live acoustic version... thanks!
To me it's especially the "flipping-over" of her voice (damn, don't know the English word for it) that makes it even worse... If you do that, you better be sure to do it in tune, but every time she "flips-over" her voice she goes a couple of notes too high.....
That's so bad it's not even funny.... Poor woman, if she'd only understand...

This song should be banned from any playlist that hits the airwaves before noon - in ANY time zone. Really horrible and grating.

Who would have guessed that zombies would so popular now?
Wow,
One of the more rockin' Cranberries songs and they watered it down in the live version. Oh well.

I like it even more seeing how much it upsets so many other people. Also like the solo stuff by Delores i heard on RP the other day. I also have to say i reckon this accoustic version is better than the album version and could be further improved by making those strings sharper and more violent.

Possibly the first RP tune that I have actively pondered using that vile little green barfing emoticon for. But it seems like there's already plenty of them in this thread already!
that is what it happens when joins 3 factors, inspiration, work, and an excellent register of voice - 7.

It is obbvious on the album that she is singing "Tommy!" Tommy!" :) Not so much on the live album.
Damnable Cromwell.
Dunno how I enjoyed this in the early 90s, but it sure grates these days. This live version is even worse.

Yes, but this was written in the early 1990s when the peace process was still developing, and it refers back to the 1916 Easter Rising. The violence being discussed here might be different to gun crime in contemporary US cities, but it was pretty damn real: bombings of civilian and military targets, shootings, and beatings that left 1,123 security personnel and 1,855 civilians dead between 1969 and 2001.
For what it's worth, I don't much like this version of the song.

Actually Dolores O'Riordan came first. This song came out in 1994 when Alanis broke out big in 1995.

Almost sounds like they're backed by Apocalyptica...I mean, it's not as good as Apocalyptica, but there's enough of a flavor there to suggest a good pairing.

I really can't stand a voice that can't follow on the notes of the song. It's a gimmick, not art.
