Shake it up

I never loved nobody fully
Always one foot on the ground
And by protecting my heart truly
I got lost
In the sounds

I hear in my mind
All of these voices
I hear in my mind
All of these words
I hear in my mind
All of this music
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my ha-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah-aart
And it breaks my ha-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah-aart

Suppose I never, ever met you
Suppose we never fell in love
Suppose I never ever let you
Kiss me so sweet
And so sah-ah-ah-ah-oft

Suppose I never, ever saw you
Suppose we never, ever called
Suppose I kept on singin' love songs
Just to break
My own fall
Just to break my fa-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah-aall
Just to break my fa-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah-aall
Just to break my fa-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah-aall
Break my fall
Break my fall

All my friends say
That of course
It's gonna get be'er
Gonna get be'er
Be'er, be'er, be'er, be'er
Better, better, better, ohhh...

I never loved nobody fully
Always one foot on the ground
And by protecting my heart truly
I got lost
In the sounds

I hear in my mind
All of these voices
I hear in my mind
All of these words
I hear in my mind
All of this music
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart

I hear in my mind
All of these voices
I hear in my mind
All of these words
I hear in my mind
All of this music
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
It breaks my ha-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah-aart
And it breaks my ha, ah, ah, ah, art
And it breaks my ha-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah-aart
And it breaks my heart
Breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart

Out of rerspect for Ms. Spector, who's capable of better work, I'm rating this a 2.
What an stupid song....  {#Frustrated}
Rubbish - Drum Machine, xilaphone, AWFUL VOCALS. First time I have heard complete trash on RP !

I could do with a few less of the stuttering machine gun "heart" part.  Once or twice in the song would have been ok, but more than that, annoying.  Too bad, because I liked the rest of the song.

I never heard this song before. After hearing it, I now know why. Yuck.

Personally I enjoy Reginas complete disregard for mainstream mores about how to sing. Go Regina! =D

Worth repeating, IMO.

At least it is a new song...
Good lord...... Kill it.... kill it with fire.........

(....turns off RP, back in five....)
man... this mixed with Sting and Baka would make me strutt my funky bark thing!

Interesting!  I didn't expect this much distaste for this song.  I quite like it, actually.
Painful and avoidable...

This jumps between quirky and irritating with, well, irritating frequency. In the right mood it could be smile-inducing, in the wrong mute-inducing. So a MOR rating of 5 from the Nottingham jury.

Friend Riley is dead on, as usual, in diagnosing what's wrong with this one. My rating is a 3 because the irritating parts don't balance out the charmingly quirky ones for me as much as they do for the Nottingham jury.

does this guy nail it or what ?  This is free speech, y'all:  join in, and sleep when you can !  Radio Paradise is The Way.   maybe

This is used for the soundtrack of a beautiful short about gay marriage rights (Prop 8).
Glad this found its way back into the playlist. 5 years is quite a stint between plays.
I like Regina. I like different. But I cannot help that my ears are annoyed by the chorus.

I'd love to hear more from her, but preferably not this song.

Pretty much my least favorite regularly-played RP artist. Just don't get it. I get this overwhelming sense that she is desperate to write something that sounds different for the sake of being different. Well Regina, you've done it — it definitely sounds different.

But not as musical.

i like to hear regina spektor more..

Man, this song ROCKS! It's different, quirky, melodic, punky and and and. I bought the album after hearing "on the radio" and this track is even better.
Geez....and I thought the people who would gravitate towards RP would be more open minded I really like this song the more I listen to it....and she DOES sound different...and DOES step out from the mainstream. Hey, I hope some of you aren't becoming your father

Oh my god, something different. cant handle it! make it stop! If you bother to check some of her stuff out, she's actually incredibly talented and much more creative than most artists out there. Just need to stop putting all singers and what they should sing like in a tight little box.

I'd give this song a 6 or so if it weren't for the little voice bouncing thing that annoyed me enough to change stations... so therefore, a 2.
You are right - it is ah, ah, ah, ah ... annoying.
The interviewed her a couple of weeks ago on NPR. She was pretty interesting. Apparently does a lot of the vocal sound effects schtick. But that's okay. Give me something new and different anytime. I was back in Nebraska a few weeks back and all they were playing was crap like Boston and Journey, as if no music had been made since the 80s. Guess that's part of why I moved to Austin...

I thought I had accidentally clicked on the realplayer link.

This is exactly the attitude I don't get. How does a negative review hurt diversity? Isn't an artificially homogeneous sea of positive opinion more harmful to diversity? Isn't that basically the artistic version of "dissent = treason" that the GOP spits out?
Sounds like a
My first sucko-barfo ever. I need to find a programmer that will write a winamp plug-in to stop my player right before this song comes on again. Simp-ly aw-ful.
I normally dont post negative comments, since I appreciate the diversity you hear here. But all that music she hears in her head should stay there.
Dear... the professionals don't do that for good reason. YOU certainly shouldn't. 4. (Any relation to Phil?)
She breaks the song near the end. Needs to be re-recorded without the overt off-key weirdness.
I feel like I'm at a children's sing-a-long.

I like it, but I have to say it's pretty weird hearing a sad line "you break my heart" sung like that.
ah-ah-ah-ah-ah my car sounds like that when its about to break down she si really trying WAY too hard to do the Christina Aguilera thingy
HORRIBLE – F!
this is awful
A goofy DIDO.

Sounded like that to me too, from the first note of the vocal.
