I never made time
You never made much sense
We never stood a chance
If we're honest

You were not the first
And I won't be the last
But if it makes it better
Well you can call me what you will

Get Home late
No-one's here
Pace around the house
And sit in my chair

And if you think of me
It doesn't mean a thing
So why don't you just tell me what you really think again?

I don't care what you call me
Oh I
I don't care what you call me
No I
I don't care what you call me
'Cos it won't hurt any more

I know I let you down
And Christ you let me know
Every time and time again

Just another afternoon
Get drunk and disappear
So call me what you will

Rain it on down
What else can you throw at me?
I haven't heard before

And tear me on down
I am unforgivable
So why don't you just tell me what you really think again

I don't care what you call me
Oh I
I don't care what you call me
Oh I
I don't care what you call me
'Cos it won't hurt any more

Rain it on down
What else can you throw at me?
I haven't heard before

And tear me on down
I am unforgivable
So why don't you just tell me what you really think again

Scream me on down
I am so forgettable
Yes I know

Shoot me on down
Don't you think this isn't killing me
So why don't you just tell me what you really think again

I don't care what you call me
Oh I
I don't care what you call me
No I
I don't care what you call me
'Cos it won't hurt any more

this song is pretty much my autobiography.
I really like the entire CD. It is particularly relevant for me having just gone through a nasty break-up that resulted in a slew of name-calling and accusations. The song is somewhat representative of the rest of the CD, however, to the extent that it deals with relationships. It's a rather somber CD in many ways, but sometimes in a tongue in cheek way like the track "Cheer up, you miserable f*%k" Overall I recommend it!

Actaully I really liked it. it inspired me to logon to this site and create an account and talk you guys. Nothing wrong with simple music if it is simply good.
nothin' wrong with that at all, in fact it's exactally what it should all be about. Welcome to the madness!
Get a spine, dude
A question for those who are familiar with David Ford's other work: is this representative of his other songs? I'm diggin' the music, but if he's generally like this then it might not really be my cup of coffee. Curious tho...
as long as you call me...
That sounds a lot like a song by my friend The Jay Johnson Band. Things that make you say hmm....

I guess I disagree with most recent posts here. I like this song for its simplicity and emotion. Or, maybe it is the mood I am in today? Who knows. Anyway, thanks Bill for playing it.

I'm glad he decided to have a backing band kick (ok, ease) in halfway through, or I'd have to turn him off.

Well put...
Most enjoyable!
My advice to him is to have a big cup of coffee before his recording sessions....
Yeah, very Damien, but also reminiscent of Gerald Collier. Anyone know him? Maybe I should re-rip some of his cd's in a higher quality and upload them. Really some delightfully depressing music.
I agree on all of the Damien comparisons, which is exactally why I am really liking this. Both sound pleeding and sincere, and for lots of reasons I'm diggin it.

I just heard this song via the newest Paste CD sampler. Good stuff!

Actually, it's an old one I've had since college. It's older than you are. By the way, you needn't capitalize the word "thesaurus." It's a common noun.
I hear ya...the "Profanity Filter" is my own pet theory, unsubstantiated by actual facts That said - think about it - how many songs can you name on RP that have more than 1 or 2 "offcolor" words in it. Every once in a great a while I'll hear _one_ sneak through, but generally I think B&R try to keep RP "G-rated", which I _do_ appreciate. Despite that, sometimes a well chosen, well placed, non-gratuitous expletive can make a point that 80 pages of verse won't capture. DownHomeGirl wrote:
I like his voice... The "profanity filter" bugs me. How is it that Warren Zevon can be all strung out on heroin on the outskirts of town (Carmelita) ... but apperently a song gets rejected because of a ****, a ****, or a ****? HOW is that OK? I don't get it.
I call you-whinebag.

not crazy about this song. sounds like the same three angst-ridden, melodramatic notes over and over and over

I uploaded David Ford's "State of the Union" which is an even better track off this album (with much more passion than this one, BTW). However, my theory is that it got rejected by Bill's profanity filter ;-) which is fine - but at least it was heartfelt profanity, apropos of the times.

blah

There are 2 or 3 good tracks (I Don't Care...being one of them) from this CD - I bought the import directly from David Ford's site a while back. Some background - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Sincerely_Apologise_For_All_The_Trouble_I%27ve_Caused The rest of the CD is meh, in my opinion...not a bad first effort, though it seems he's trying too hard to be really mad...

Okay. I'm going to call you untalented.

This is from the "faked emotion" school of music. It lacks any real energy, and the voice is somniferous. To make it worse, this track is so unoriginal. Sounds tediously common to me. Does the world really need another Damien Rice? One is more than enough.
Congratulations on the purchase of your new Thesaurus!
Meh.
That song off U2's 'Joshua Tree' ...which one was it? Red Hill Mining Town?
All this quiet, plain, unchallenging music is driving me crazy. Come on RP, let's put some edge on July 25th, eh? Give me something that makes me notice it before I pass out.
Highly recommended album. Don't judge by this tune, though it's still pretty good. Solid work from a rising artist. And the emotion here and elsewhere is genuine, I can assure you.

Don't know if I agree totally about the "faked" part. I think that is a bit subjective. But I did learn a new word: "somniferous". On that I agree - if you're already sleepy, especially so.
I think the album title says it all with regards to this song...He's talking about my headache no doubt.
That cover is so 90's. Good song by the way, I agree on the Damien Rice vibes going on. It will suffice until his new album comes around.
Man, you took the words right out of my mouth, Damien Rice echos for sure...wonderful...
I've never heard this before but I love it!

Nice and mellow...the way a Monday morning should be...
Mm. This is nice.
oooh... such melancholy on such a sunny summer day!
