"Where are you going?" for the 250th time.
"I'm waiting for a sign"
"Well it looks like another line"
And I'm walking backwards to the place where I come from
But that ain't enough, no you want me to run.

I used to feel like California with baby's eyes so blue
Now I feel like Carolina: I split myself in two
And I'm walking backwards from Chicago through Washington
But that ain't enough no you want me to run.

"Better watch your soul it'll leave you like a hundred bucks."
My friends said "Stick to your guns" but instead I just got stuck
And I'm walking backwards looking forward to getting done
But that ain't enough no you want me to run

Could do without the ill-fitting overlay in the middle of the song. Very distracting and took away from what I think is an otherwise lovely song.
Yeah, I agree, that middle bit was a pretty bad choice.
M ward is definetely and acquired taste. It took me quite a few listens (starting w/ "Post War" ), but then there was this click in my head and I got it. Soon I was doing alot of clicking - downloading more. Its worth giving it a little time.
I was thinking the same. Very peculiar. Art_Carnage wrote:

Great voice, quality writing... beautiful understated production. For some reason the sound of this guy's records always reminds me of Zep's Physical Graf. Am I a bit mad?
Yes, unless you hear some sitars and mixed meter and Bonzo that I'm missing. Yes, really nuts. I hear Neil Young with a piece of Mamma Cass' ham sandwich stuck in his throat.
At least it's not Sufyawn.
At least he doesn't feel like Dakota. Split in two AND freezing his buns off.
He should team up with Dinosaur Jr and make some really really bad vocals.
I don't know why I like it. But I like it.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Gargling regularly with a little salt water will clear that raspiness right up.

Stark raving. As a hatter. As a March Hare.
Ouch.
this song makes me want to cry a little bit. boo. M. Ward, you get a 2
opening riff reminds me of something...ryan adams? 'cry on demand'?

I'm glad to hear some M being played. I think "Transfiguration of Vincent" has got to be the best album I have heard from him.
Could do without the ill-fitting overlay in the middle of the song. Very distracting and took away from what I think is an otherwise lovely song. I suppose it tries to illustrate the lyric "feel like Carolina and split myself in two" ?
...yes I like the vibe I'm hearing ...good music for sitting in the dim hours thinking about all the women who have wronged ya, or was that me wrongin' them? Either way ...anybody know anything about this dude?
wow - a M Ward song i like!
