Hello my love, it's getting cold on this island
I'm sad alone, I'm so sad on my own
The truth is we were much too young
Now I'm looking for you or anyone like you.

We said goodbye with the smile on our faces
Now you're alone, you're so sad on your own
The truth is we run out of the time
Now you're looking for me or anyone like me.

Na na na na?

Hello my love, it's getting cold on this island
I'm sad alone, I'm so sad on my own
The truth is we were much too young
Now I'm looking for you or anyone like you.

I can still hear the trumpet echoing across the hotel lobby on a quiet day. Fond memories now. Like catching a whiff of something in the air ... not quite Mom's cooking; maybe like what they used to cook in the school cafeteria. Not delicious at the time, but the scent still brings nostalgia years later.
it's been too long since I've heard this on RP. So nice to wile away the evening away listening to it again.
Ane Brun is wonderful- love her stuff!
I LOVE Ane Brun!

No it's not. It's Koop, and it's unique. Don't compare. Never.

a Koop !  I caught it from a Koop!!  And the only remedy is more RP tunes
......cluk, kuk,   kluk kluk....

Would you like a little cheese with that whine.

That clarinet solo 👍👍👍
Is the accordeon player forgetting a flat note at the end?

Makes me want to learn to play clarinet. And that's really saying something!

It works better if you put it Uranus

Same comment I made on the other Koop song played on RP:

A few years ago I worked in a hotel that used an iPod Shuffle for their lobby background music.  If I recall correctly it had 18 songs on it.  This was one of them (that other Koop song was too).  If you just passed through the lobby briefly a few times during your stay, you were fine, but otherwise you started to notice songs repeating.  And if you worked there every day, it got extremely annoying!  We put up with that playlist for at least a year!

I was really annoyed by this song but never actually listened to it other than at a low level in the echo-y hotel lobby.  Now that I hear it on RP I realize that it's actually enjoyable.  I like the vocals.  I definitely cringed the first time I heard it on here but I'm glad that RP was able to "fix" this song for me!

A few years ago I was at a local coffee shop and heard a Leonard Cohen song that was in rotation on RP at the time. I asked and yes, the coffee shop playing RP. Too bad your hotel didn't just plain put RP on for all to enjoy!
I absolutely love this song. Started at an 8 but it's going to 9.

All samples.
every time I hear something by Koop I am transported into some 50s mood musically - and think of French New Wave cinema. There was a lot to detest about the 50s (architecture combined with 'economic revitalization' of beautiful old buildings/neighborhoods, for example) but this works for me. And the vocalists are so amazing...also enjoy Moonbounce
nicely, if a little too quietly, used in Breaking Bad. First or second season flashback scene with Walt's old partner in the chemistry business.
Love this sound
Today in "Weird Internet Coincidences": I just heard this song being mentioned as an inspiration for a story on the Science Fiction Podcast "Escape Pod".

I'm getting a Mardi Gras feel.
Love seagulls

Fantastic, emotional piece. Thanks.
I don't get anyone.
Good, certainly old-school but a tad overplayed here on RP
With all the great female singers out there - let's share the RP bandwidth wealth.
I also like this song, it's great. Regards from Germany

very few songs wont have that affect if regularly played.     As RP is made of playlists it suffers from this phenominon albiet on a much lesser level and Bill does a fine job of mixing and rotating keeping it from stagnating.   You know, when one song is ending, you know what comes next..       I spent 3 years as a 5* hotel IT manager and lobby music was both my passion and my pain.     playlist should be huge to satisfy the staff, but paying the legalities and PRS means this is impossible.
Sweet!
Good for a sweltering Friday afternoon. Always enjoyable!

Trust ever Fernet Branca :-)

It has a particular bitter taste...
But it is a classic here...
Good luck for your future in Trastevere :-)

Great tune, outstanding manner/arrangement/voice with some own character. The lyrics are narrowing the image, and the video's boring.

Smooth, sweet and innocent vocal — yeah, sure she's innocent; a vibraphone in the background; an Italian chitarra battente (at least I think so); and a clarinet solo with a trombone in counterpoint .... this is giga-Euro cool.
"Barangrill" or "The last time I saw richard" by joni mitchell come to mind. I can't think of this song without thinking of booze. A certain kind of booze, the $1 wells and ladies free kind probably. I enjoy Ane Brun. But there is a sort of camp disconnect between "modern" music and actual cocktail lounges as I recall them.
soothing late evening sauvignon blanc swaying in the celestial breeze..{#Cheers}
A bit overplayed for my liking

Wonderfully melodic voice and great backup. It shines!!!!
8>9
I just woke up and this is exactly what I needed to hear.. my coffee's swingin'.
Smoother than mercury on glass, and that's smooth. Sexy yet melancholic, jaunty yet thoughtful, and staying the right side of cheesy. The background seagulls are a nice touch, conjuring up an image of a sad woman sitting on a quay looking wistfully out to sea. This woman's voice reaches in and gets me just there. 8 from the smitten Nottingham jury {#Hearteyes}
Always like hearing this song. Has a similar sound/groove to Waldeck. Not saying in any way that's a negative, just putting out another name if people like this.

This is a nice song to put in a loop for an hour or so while you look for others of a similar sound.

It's a jazzy, afternoon-evening sound ... Good intro to some movie... and so on..

Janines is still wonderful. Good Karma is now at Natural Cafe, I think. Come back and visit!
First listen and I love it

Yikes!  That's for sure.....  I hadn't watched it until now.  Definitely NOT the images I had conjured in my mind listening to it.  I still like this song.  It holds a sweet spot for me as one of the songs I first associated hearing on RP (hadn't heard elsewhere) when I first tuned in about 6 years ago.  And I've continued to enjoy it on repeated listens.
loved this tune.
I didn't really pay much attention to this, but it's been growing on me for a while. RP has already helped me meet Bonomo, God Is An Astronaut and Arcade Fire, and I guess it's time for Koop.
This masterpiece has a sad sad video :(
Played too much!

I can't give it higher than an 8 because of the canned seagulls in the background.

First time I ever heard this was when watching 90210 with my daughter and she liked it.  Ahhh, the power of bonding.
Bought the album based on this track.  Fantastic track (for me a 10) - album less so but still good overall.
3>2 this morning as I cannot believe how often this song is played on RP. ugh.

Great song. Love Ane Brun's voice.

Whenever I hear this I think of the "Everyone Loves Raymond" episodes that were filmed in Italy.  I have no idea why—probably bears no resemblance to the music used (which I did look up but don't remember anyway). But I somehow juxtapose this music with some of the great scenery they shot while filming.
I first listened to this song on RP and been in love with it since then. They have several other cool songs.

Cool!  There was a song not an hour ago by Bloomfield, Kooper, Stills and "Kooper" had me thinking of this song.  I'm a fan.
