It's been a long time since I rock and rolled,
It's been a long time since I did the Stroll.
Ooh, let me get it back, let me get it back,
Let me get it back, baby, where I come from.
It's been a long time, been a long time,
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time. Yes it has.
It's been a long time since the book of love,
I can't count the tears of a life with no love.
Carry me back, carry me back,
Carry me back, baby, where I come from.
It's been a long time, been a long time,
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time.
Seems so long since we walked in the moonlight,
Making vows that just can't work right.
Open your arms, opens your arms,
Open your arms, baby, let my love come running in.
It's been a long time, been a long time,
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time.
It's been a long time since I did the Stroll.

WOW! First time hearing this, and JLL is the SHIT, and really? Jimmy Page too? Crazyness indeed....this one's good enough to be an 8, though I might downgrade to a 7 one day.....oh well, Long Live RP!!

Seems like it's trying a bit hard to be "interesting." Not bad, but…
I thought this was Dread Zeppelin... actually was surprised it was Jerry Lee instead of Tortelvis.
This tune kind of lends itself to this kind of arrangement what with the melody and the words being very much from the tradition of those 50's rock songs. Interesting, but the original metal version does much more for me, like basically it just rocks... this sort of snoozes along but I give it a decent rating for being interesting.

If I hadn't seen the title and artwork before hitting play, woulda thought the same thing.
Had the pleasure of seeing Dread Zep some 15 or 20 years ago with the original lineup and it was a hoot. Sweaty old shit hole, Peabody's Downunder, in the Cleveland Flats. Great fun.

Sometimes it's just for the fun of it.

Jerry Lee is sort of rockabilly version of Mel Tillis—-when he speaks he's damn-near unintelligible, but when he sings you can hear every word—thank goodness for that.
not the "killers" best but hell he's still good

This song exceeds the government maximum allowed limit of awesomeness.
did anyone see jerry lee lewis on the grammies w/john fogerty? he was COMPLETELY OUT OF IT for whatever reason. little richard was also frightening in his part of this segment, but at least he still appeared to be actually playing his piano. OTOH he only looked like little richard because some mortician appears to have done a serious makeup job on him.
comments welcome! %^D

Great Balls of Zeppelin!
LOL!
I've used this too many times (whether in my head or reviewing) with what Bill is playing today. It hasn't been a good day for me musically.....
I'm sure Jerry Lee Lewis lit up more than one piano. Smokin!
I just love the images conjured when listening of Jerry pounding away at the piano like it was a giant drum kit.
Elvis Presley allegedly said that if he could play the piano like Jerry Lee Lewis, he'd quit singing.
d00kie wrote:

Of course not. Jerry Lee's piano goes to 12.
Great Balls of Zeppelin!

Well said. It doesn't have as much frenetic energy as his earlier stuff. It was my first time hearing it and I was dissapointed, though I usually love him. I did turn it up though... :)
A synergistic musical montage! Rock-n-Roll lives!
I have never been able to appreciate Jerry Lee Lewis... I simply don't get him. ">

That album cover is hilarious!
Everything about this project is hilarious. The cover, the name of the album, "You remember me, doncha?"
What a character!
Need we say more?
Very cool rendition!! Much better than some talentless jackoff doing a karaoke version.
ROCK AND ROLL
Wow!

Yeah, no kidding--a bit o' mixed-way-back rhythm guitar, two bars of solo, and you get to say "With Jimmy Page." Well, maybe it sold some albums for 'em. Something had to. . . .
Jerry Lee's been rockin' da house since before I was born.
And that's a looooong friggin time.
Lonely lonely time, according to this song.
and great right after he Immigrant Song. great mix Bill!
This is just weird.
And wrong. Very very wrong.
Funny.. It says "With Jimmy Page", but I never heard Page...
COOL! Led Zep with an actual voice rather than a screech!
That album cover is hilarious!
Jimmy Led Lewis? I'm too confused to rate this one just now...

Jerry Lee Lewis is an icon in boogie woogie style rock-n-roll!!!
WOOOOOOW! Great Singer! Great Pianist!
... no, just joking!
No one is perfect, take me,I can not like Mr.Lewis! Don't know why, never did, probebly never will but I accept this one.#4
this gets more play than it deserves - its a bit of an oddity, curiosity, novelty. RP plays it way more than the original classic which isn't right.

Jerry's voice is sounding a bit strained these days.
brilliant fusion! very fun.
Amazing... Didn\'t know this existed. Need to understand both genres and musicians to appreciate. Thanks for playing!!

This is junk.
Very cool!
Let us all reflect on how great this is compare the other Led Zep cover that Jimmy last helped record; the HORRIBLE Puff Daddy Kashmir rap song.
Far better than Zep.
Rockabilly! How come we don't hear any Gene Vincent?

I heard Sheryl Crow do this live as her final encore of a recent tour -- she stood on top of a grand piano and delivered this with a lot of energy. It's a great song. Hard to screw it up.
especially if you're standing on the piano instead of playing it.

Drive By Truckers then Led Zeppelin followed by Jerry Lee Lewis w/Jimmy Page. Now that's a rock n roll three-fer. Thanks Bill!
Any guy who marries his 13-year old cousin and gets away with it has to be .... well, something .... particularly if she looked like that shoplifter gal. She didn't, however, but I guess love was blind.
The original -- which I have on a 78rpm -- is more "authentic" but this is still cool.
Freakin' brilliant!
I have to give it a solid 5 simply because I'm just confused.

God help them. A Bronx Cheer from me.
oddly enough.............this works.
long live the killer!
I love this entire album! Hot off the press!
I was going to say this was a travesty until I saw Jimmy Page's name. So, um, I guess it's OK, if you say so Jimmy.
Kudos to JLL for attempting this. That said...
the feel's kind of lost on this but I guess it has a curiosity element to it.
I think this works fine. 8
Sorry Jimmmmy Page, I don't like this one
I find it interesting that lots of sixties and seventies bands did their (then) hip versions of rock 'n' roll with someone like Jerry Lee Lewis in mind and now, in the end, he, as an original, takes back what was actually his!
A moving tribute/testament. Few other rockers hit me as much as the Killer.

Seamless seague from Immigrant Song Bill, even if I hate this stuff.
Acceptable because of JLL's kickin' piano. But this sure shows what an amazing job Plant did on vocals.
Then again, if Plant tried this now, it would probably be a train wreck too.
That kicked ass! I'd love to see it live.

Jerry Lee Zeppelin!!!! Boogie baby!!
GREAT BALLS OF FIRE!

And, did a damn good job of it!!
