Underrated tune. Reminds me of the soundtrack of a claymation game called Neverhood.
fun for a Friday morning EEST
Was fun until the accordion kicked in.
Oh, well! The album cover's neat!

Reminds me of an SNL skit. Might have been alright if it ended about halfway through.
Is this Klezmer-inspired music?

Still horrendous.
Dumb band name, dumb CD cover, negligible melody, annoying alto sax.

Me too. I used to go see a garage band in high school that did a fantastic Donkey Kong cover between sets. It was hilarious.

Seconded! Blech! I'll give 'em a 2 just because 1 is reserved for Dengue Fever.

I guess this is what they mean when they say "You've got to think funny with your ears".

This gets a big fat 1 solely for the stupid band name.
Yeah, but the cover...I know I've seen those guys somewhere... they look so familiar...
Never heard this before. I like it.

Yes you are right. Gotta love a song that makes good use of an accordion.
I heard Frank too.
Apparently he can live forever

Thought I heard a little Gentle Giant in there for a second. Frank Zappa too. Maybe I need more coffee.
The segue from this into Steely Dan - The Royal Scam was interesting....

Oh, I love the Austin Lounge Lizards! But I think he was talking about a different band, Pyro... A.L.L. sounds nothing like this.
Yes, I see now. Read the post too fast or was THINKING about A.L.L. As versatile as A.L.L. are, I thought this might have been them! But I knew it was a stretch....

The cover, the band name, the title...
The bizarre instrumentation, the circus tent klezmer and the John Zorn brass..
It all sets my mental buffoons cap a-jingle.
Easily an 8 =)

I somehow get visions of steve Martin doing some kind of crazy dance to this - in his white suit.

Or yodeling, but that thought sort of destroys the nice arabian/egyptian atmospherere of this song.
What are those instruments?
Could be just clarinet & fagot/bassoon, or is it some middle-eastern contraption?

Ann Margret?? Are your visions in color or Black and white? ;-)

Idunno - anyone else hear Frank Zappa's Little Umbrellas from the Hot Rats album here?
YES
is it over yet?
Any song that begins with a bass clarinet (which continues throughout the entire song) is bound to be unusual. I haven't decided if I like it or not....

Spidergirl has an unerring instinct for good music.
I've liked this song ever since it showed up on the LRC. It has the virtues of both inventiveness and skilled musicianship.

Frank Z. would love this!
Freakin' tight!
Hey, it's my 15th Sucko-Barfo rating! If I weren't bleeding from the ears I'd celebrate!

Yes. You beat me to it. I was about to make a similar comment.

Best song I\'ve heard in a long time.
This style is so cool and makes me swing my hips and shoulders.
10!

Quite an interesting tune. I saw these guys play completely improvised music and sound effects for the old silent movie Nosfaratu at the Byrd theater in Richmond years ago. That was truly a one-of-a-kind experience.
Support your local musicians!
One word. Shite!
these guys have heard Zappa
In the same sort of vein as Japonize Elephants
does this ever end?
the bananas down the page are at the exact right tempo. I'm frightened. Hold me.
This is pretty sweet... and by sweet I mean AWESOME.
Oh really, it is a pretty entertaining listen. 8 for me :)
Started OK, but it was downhill all the way from there. A 4 I'm afraid

Pleasently surprised to get this on. The Ululating Mummies were a Richmond VA band that used to play at our local summer concert series. Very ecelectic and the only time you could catch me dancing in public.

Spot on!

Me like! A bit of "Negresses Vertes" to it.
Pretty groovy...albeit bizarre, in a good way I reckon.

I thought so too, but the only thing I've heard ululating so fax is the saxophone.

Sounds like a gypsy's funeral dirge.
Confusing for sure but I don't know about frightening. It might grow on me.
Gotta love the band name
So glad this one made the cut from the LRC - I loved it every time I heard it there and I love it now!
funky sax - not sure about the rest ...
This song frightens and confuses me...
It's fun though.
