Divergent journeys, we will meet again in Hell
Kept my head down and moved
Till every friend I'd known was gone
Then one day, I was not alone
Everything had changed
Everything was strange
Everything had changed
Everything was strange
When in rags and when in wealth
A solemn promise never to give too much of myself
Despite the hopeful words I've said
I've lived my life inside my head
Then one day, I was not alone
Everything had changed
Everything was strange
Everything had changed
Everything was strange
I hold my breath and count to ten
I hate it now, hated it then
Seen it all before
A failure and a bore
That's what friends are for
So it seems I must have won
As I survey the ashes of the damage that I've done
Everyone I've ever known
Is just as closed off and alone
Then one day, I was not alone
Everything had changed
Everything was strange
Everything had changed
Every thing
What a segue, from "My God
" by J.Tull, into
BNL "Everything had changed"
But , William we found out that you have been followed by Allanna.
Great segue!

BNL tried to hard on this one and then it just lost me...
Agreed on the interesting eclectic sound here, but this song is certainly not representative of their better work... 5.
More Barenaked New Years by *GrecianFistOFury
Barenaked Ladies again.
This time more of the group...
Um... not sure what else to say about this.
They rocked and it was an awesome way to ring in the New Year
Their improve was fantastic
Barenaked Ladies a cut above Rush?!! I am aghast! Now, Geddy Lee may have a marginal voice, but musically they aren't even in the same zip code. Go listen to Jacob's Ladder off of Permanent Waves, then go and make a public apology to your country.
Got to back you on this one Crock. Cananda has given us Rush, Sarah McLachlan, the Mckenzie brothers, and Labatts. God bless em.

They're still a cut above Rush, Nickelback, Alannis Morrisette, Platinum Blonde, Gowan . . . ouch.

Wow, that rarest of events, a Canadian cat fight. What's next, a constitutional crisis?
Does a contentious prorogation count as a constitutional crisis? I think so, but the government doesn't seem to.
Just think if Canadians didn't have Americans around so they can gang up and feel superior to. The fur would be flying all day.
Interesting comment.
It wasn't that long ago that we Canucks wanted to be like the US when we grew up. Now we watch from north of the 49th and hope you guys get your act back together.
No matter, though —- your town Austin is one of the coolest places, figuratively at least, that I've ever visited.
Actually, when no one's watching, the fur IS flying all day!
The rule of thumb is that all Canadians love Canada but no one loves Quebec, Ontario (esp. Toronto and Ottawa), Alberta, anyone who lives in those areas or has spent any time there, natives with a land claim, any level of government or authority, or anyone who is successful while being famous (famous & poor = indy, so that's alright). Not necessarily in that order.
We all like a good beer, though. I've learned that's the secret to diffusing any potentially contentious situation. If the UN served beer, the World would be a safer place.

But really, Rush? How can you be embarrassed by Rush? Anything pre-Hold Your Fire is brilliant.

Don't forget Bryan Adams!

just because the barenaked ladies have sucked for a long time, doesn't mean that this song isn't enjoyable.. tap tap tap
Agreed, it's been a while since I've heard a BNL song that doesn't grate on my nerves. This one's pretty good.
Ho-Hum rating is what most sleepers get
Still love BNL though
......
BTW, I love it here in Canada and have no plans on emigrating (unlike many Quebec residents who feel Canada is not worthy of them)
Well, I'll agree that I don't quite understand the appeal of this band but I think your political analysis is wrong. These days Quebec residents do not want to 'emigrate'; Alberta residents want to 'emigrate'.
Albertans are worried sick that this looming battle against carbon emissions and global warming might diminsh their status as those privileged few among the world's highest per capita energy users.

I'm really not interested in continuing this dialogue. I stand by my original statements, and I'll sum it up for you with, "they suck".

a hearty laugh for all of the canadian patriotism nonsense below. i love radio paradise.

Then rate this song a 1 and move on.
I know this conversation is at an end, but I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in and mention that I'm embarrassed to be in the same province as you.
Today's a good day to be a Canadian ... our banks are the strongest in the world.
And BNL, talented as they are, absolutely drive me up the wall.
Of course you ar entitled to your opinion. You could say they sucked and I could care less, but to say they make you embarrassed to be a Canadian?....Bit over the top and reveals your patriotism to be questionable at best.
As for Steve's behavior... yeah he is alone in the music business in partaking in that kind of behavior...ooohh my god that is so shocking!!!! Wrong place at the wrong time, it doesn't dimishish their accomplishments or their talent.
And as for your "residents of Qubec comment", I'm originally from Nova Scotia 9th generation (that's over 200 hundred years for small minded people like you) a die hard federalist and I live in Quebec by choice, so you can stick your anti-Quebec rhetoric where the sun don't shine!

Well you are entitled to you opinion, just as I am to mine. I feel that this band does nothing but perpetuate incorrect stereotype about Canadians, and their humour is juvenile at best. They are not great ambassadors, as can been seen by Steven Paige's latest behavior - that's not the type of ambassador that I want to represent me! Yes, Canada does have MANY fine musicians, but this grade-school calibre basement band is not one of them.

I will hold it against you.
I saw them when they were nobodies, just starting out (still slinging their latest casette ). They were warming up for the the Rheostatics at a small club in Ottawa (around 1992). They were fantastic! They had the whole place on their feet cheering, dancing, laughing. They were simply amazing. When do you see the warm up band being called back for an encore? Then the Rheostatics came on. A real downer by comparison (they are a good band, just not to follow the Ladies) and half the crowd left.
Since then they have gone on to become the "stars" they are now. They are one of the hardest working bands out there and stayed together through one of their members fighting cancer. They are unapologetically Canadian in the content of many of their songs and videos. They are great ambassadors for Canada, combining two of our greatest entertainment exports, music and humour. So if they make you embarrassed to be a Canadian, maybe it is time for you to emigrate!

SNZ just got back together, I wonder if they will tour with BL? I know I will buy tickets!
We won't hold it against you......
Thanks, I appreciate that!
