My shoulders were as heavy as lead
I felt something was just not right
I had to roll a little spliff for my head
So I took a walk inside
Talked to I, I self
Trying to ease these pains of mine
Oh Jah give I strength
And if a egg, natty inna di red
And if a egg, natty inna di red
Rasta inna it, natty inna di red
And if a egg, natty inna di red
Yeah, yah yah
Yah, yah
Eh, Now I'm in a irie place
Now I'm in a irie space
Now I man can I ditate
Free ourselves from all that hate
Now I'm in an irie state
Now I man can I ditate
Free ourselves from all that hate
Bless them with Jah love and grace
And if a egg, natty inna di red
And if a egg, natty inna di red
Rasta inna it, (egg), natty inna di red
And if a egg, natty inna di red
Yeah, yeah
Eh, I didn't get no sleep at all first night, no
My shoulders we as heavy as lead
I felt Something was just not right
Had to Roll a little zig for my head
Yeah
So I took a walk inside
Talk to I, I self
Free I from this frame of mind
Oh Jah give I strength
And if a egg, natty inna di red
And if a egg, natty inna di red
Cmon man and if a (egg), natty inna di red
And if a egg, natty inna di red
Yeah, yah yah
Oh, yah, yah,yah, yah
None shall escape Jah judgment
Jah judgments gonna call on you
Red eye, red eye, red eye
Red eye, you're gonna turn to blue
None shall escape Jah judgment
Jah judgments gonna fall on you
Red eye, red eye, red eye
Red eye, you're gonna turn to blue
Yeah, yah, yah
Yah, uah
Yah, yah
[Outro: Kids]
So when we call him Rastafari
What shall we contend with
Watch how weak heart tremble
Heathen nah like Jah name
It means "My submarine is full of eels",
Same here. But this is a great vibe sung with much feeling. An easy 8.
It literally (sort of) translates into "If I'm in the yolk of the egg", which, figuratively speaking, means being tangled up in the middle of things. Basically, he's saying there's a lot of difficult things weighing on his mind.
You'd have to learn Jamaican slang I guess.
All I got was roll a zig for my head.
And none shall escape jah judgment.
That may be enough.

NIce Bill. Dark reggae. Irie, irie.
Sitting on the Sandals Montego Bay beach. Ahhhhhhhhh
and i agree with you today as well, perfect moment.
And I thought he was from Jamaica
I heard "now I'm in an Irish Dance"
And I thought he was from Jamaica
not sure if you're being sarcastic.
it's Irie.
And I thought he was from Jamaica
Yep
Absolutely
"Inna Di Red" is, perhaps, one of the most iconic songs of all time of RP, since Apr 25, 2007, and I wish to remain......
Che cos'è fino? E perché l'hai scritto tre volte? Uno basterebbe....
Mute on, escape to iTunes for five. This guy really gets on my tits bigtime.
Hallelujah and tot ziens!
yes, I remember Fridays, too... you just made me smile, big time!
(like)
WTF does that mean? This is a great album for the most part from yet ANOTHER Marley offspring.... Very cool tune
FRIdays! w00t! I thought I was the only one who remembers that show.
RIP Andy Kaufman...

No way you're from Texas? Never would've guessed.
Neither do I. The worst of it is that some people seem to NEED to be unkind.
Most of the greatest music in human history is created 'under the influence' and this is a good example!
Love it!...
Bought the album off iTunes, and it's effed up. It crackles and pops. It's the weirdest thing, but I never bothered to complain to the Borg Collective about it. Anyone else ever have that happen with a download from iTunes?
Are you sure its not just Ben Harper?

We are riding that vibe out here on the west coast...definitley a good one.
RED RUM RED RUM - ouch
I'v read on other threads here that someone thinks a tune is over played and usually I do not agree but this one could never be played again and I would be happy.
Normally I really like Rasta and Reggie music but, like someone else said this sounds like some totally stoned dude recording crap to me.
Maybe if I were stoned I would ‘get it'
You don't have to get high to enjoy this song.

Sorry man: it still sounds like a completely stoned out rasta-man, babbling incoherently about the vision he's been having under the influence of the latest "little spliff he had to roll for his hayd".
I think, it not only sounds like that.....
BTW...I would have sworn this was "Burn One Down" by Ben Harper...the beginning of each song is identical to each other. I wonder if the bongos are Ben's doing, along with the guitar work (of course).

Hmm. That's interesting. I was just thinking that this song is a very good piece of music. Mournful and lovely.
If I aint naughty in the DeRay

It's actually my favorite (and the only likeable) part. Reminds me of old Stevie Wonder songs. Otherwise, I find it grating.
This was the highlight of the show I saw; the kids (band's children) actually came out on stage and sang, and were visible off-stage for the whole show. It was like a big family get-together celebration, and a great time was had by all! (Bill—we need a rastafarian emoticon!)
Stephen Marley - Inna Di Red (w/ Ben Harper) ==> Spirit - Fresh Garbage ==> Kali - Me Ki Sa Oule ==> Kirsty MacColl - In These Shoes? ==> Los Lobos - La Bamba ==> Al DiMeola - Mediterranean Sundance
not only the artists, the radio also has inspiration moments!
YES, ZUPER ZET.
What type of situation is that then, man? I can't understand a damn word (even reading the lyrics on the lyrics site).
A ****ing miserable song, in any case!
Hahaha, nothing like a comment from a feisty Geordie to brighten up my day By the way, I like the song tho!

Makes me want to schedule another scuba diving trip to the Caribbean.

yep - buy it. now.
The rating on this song is absurd. Good song.
Nor me, I love it. Carries the legacy just so well with this............
In other words: I deeply DISAGREE!
By "that pushed it up to the top for me" I meant that I had changed my rating from nine to ten.
